Just as she returned to the villa entrance, Jiang Chengmu blocked Gu Lvq Qi right in her tracks.
Jiang Chengmu rarely came over when there was nothing going on; since their marriage, they had not lived together. He had already visited a couple of days ago, so his sudden appearance now was quite unexpected.
Madam Jiang and Mrs. Jiang had stipulated that they must return to the Jiang Family Old Residence on weekends, and it was only during those times that they would put on a show of marital affection in front of their elders.
Seeing him appear again so soon made Gu Lvq Qi slightly worried that he had figured something out. Remembering that tomorrow was Saturday, and they were supposed to meet in the morning, it was unusual for him to come over at night to confront her.
Glancing at the suitcase in her hand, Jiang Chengmu frowned slightly and questioned, "Where have you been these past two days? Why is your phone off? You’re not really doing something to betray me and running away from guilt, are you?"
"Jiang Dashao, stop being so suspicious all the time. You're not a paranoid husband!" She shot him a light glance before pulling out her keys and turning to open the door, allowing the man behind her to follow in. Since it was difficult to drive him away easily, she might as well let him in.
After being retorted by her, Jiang Chengmu felt a lump in his throat, unable to express himself; his face darkened considerably.
Once inside the foyer, he looked at the men's slippers she handed him. His gloomy expression softened a bit as he reached out to take the slippers and put them on.
These slippers were not specifically prepared for Jiang Chengmu; she had bought them on a whim during a trip to the supermarket for future use.
After changing into a set of loungewear, Green Qi glanced at the man sitting on the sofa without leaving and walked over to sit down herself. She picked up a magazine from the coffee table and flipped through it. "Did you come here for something?"
Having not rested well last night and having traveled by plane and car today, she was genuinely too tired to move. Yet he had come home looking for trouble, and his serious demeanor made her feel anxious.
"What have you been doing these past few days? Why is your phone off?"
That morning, he believed Lu Manqing's words and rushed to Yunhu Resort to catch the woman in the act, but he ended up finding no one and offending Mu Tongzi. He wasn't sure if she had already cheated, but he still had his doubts. When he wanted to continue investigating later, all the leads suddenly went cold. He had a feeling that someone was obstructing the investigation, but he couldn't be sure who it was.
Without finding evidence of her infidelity, he inexplicably felt a sense of relief.
However, her evasive gaze from a couple of days ago made him feel suspicious about the matter, but he had to abandon his pursuit due to an urgent matter. When he tried to find her for confirmation again, she suddenly went completely silent. The girl from IKEA was on her side, making it impossible to gather any information. Today, he finally caught her red-handed.
"I went to Su Jimo's Art Exhibition in L City. Why did you come looking for me tonight? Can't we talk about it when we meet tomorrow?" Sitting on the sofa, she replied casually, her eyes filled with undeniable fatigue and impatience.
Seeing her indifferent attitude, Jiang Chengmu slightly furrowed his brows. "I'm staying here for the night; we'll go back to the Jiang family together tomorrow!"
"You’re staying here tonight!" Green Qi's voice suddenly rose sharply.
"What's the big deal? It's only natural for a couple to live together. Are you hiding a lover upstairs and afraid I'll see?" He smirked and scoffed lightly before getting up and heading upstairs.
