"You must get this done!" She coldly threw out the words, paused for a moment, and then added, "Jiang Chengmu's flight is at five today. You need to pick him up!"
"Okay, got it!"
With a light snort, Mo Rushi turned to leave, seemingly too lazy to talk to her after revealing her true self.
Once Mo Rushi left, Green Qi felt even more deflated, like a punctured balloon. She stood by the window at the end of the corridor for a while, trying to calm her emotions before returning to the private room.
Asking Mu Tongzi for help was not out of the question, but Mu Tongzi might not agree, especially in matters involving the interests of both families. Moreover, she wasn't anyone special to him; how could he possibly agree to help just because of her request? Her position was already awkward, and she didn't even know how to bring it up. Perhaps as soon as she opened her mouth, he would propose some conditions that she would have to accept.
Caught in a dilemma, she felt a headache coming on...
In the Quiet Private Room, Qin Feili focused intently as Bai Zi quietly placed a piece on the chessboard. The serene atmosphere seemed undisturbed by Mo Rushi's sudden appearance. Observing the increasingly tense situation on the board and the calm confidence of the man across from him, Qin Feili chuckled lightly, "Youngest, that last move of yours has blocked your own path. I'm curious to see how you plan to turn this around."
"Desperation can lead to new opportunities; situations often improve," Mu Tongzi replied as he placed a piece on the board. The previously deadlocked game suddenly opened up.
Looking at the chessboard where an escape had been made and then back at the situation that had pushed him into a corner, Qin Feili smiled faintly. "Now it seems I'm the one trapped. It appears I really shouldn't underestimate my opponent!"
"Being merciful to your enemy is being cruel to yourself," Mu Tongzi said calmly as he placed another piece.
"That's true in theory; however, seizing the opportunity is key. If you act too early, you'll inevitably alert your opponent," Qin Feili reminded with a gentle smile as he made his move.
"I know that as long as the means are used well, there's no fear of losing."
"Is that so?" Qin Feili raised his eyes to glance at him. "This Miss Gu is a married woman; you should put away those hunting thoughts! If the Mu Family finds out, it could cause a big stir!"
Although the elders at home spoiled him, this matter concerned the face of the Mu Family, so it was better not to attract unnecessary attention.
"You don't need to worry about this; I will be careful. If that day really comes, I can handle it calmly." With his usual confidence and elegance, he lowered his gaze to the chessboard and made a move.
"As long as you know your limits," Qin Feili nodded but couldn't help reminding him, "I won't interfere with the Resort land; you companies can bid based on your true abilities!"
"Yes, I know. Everything is already prepared; you just need to watch from the sidelines!"
Seeing his confident demeanor, Qin Feili didn't say much more. He was well aware of Mu Tongzi's capabilities; since he was so sure, he wouldn't let him down.
Not knowing how long they had been standing by the window, when Green Qi pushed open the door to the private room, the two had just finished a game of chess. Hearing the noise, Mu Tongzi looked up at her, his expression darkening as he lowered his head to pick up the pieces.
She stepped forward, glanced at the chessboard, and smiled at Mayor Qin. "Who won?"
"Mu Zong won!" Qin Feili looked at Mu Tongzi and said with a faint smile, "He didn't give me any leeway at all!"
"If I gave you leeway, you'd think it was an undeserved victory!" Putting away the chess box, he raised his head to glance at Green Qi. Noticing her expression seemed off, he didn't say much more. "Let's call it a day; we can battle again another time!"
Thank you for your support, my darlings! Mwah!
