It seemed she hadn't expected him to suddenly bring up divorce. Jiang Chengmu was momentarily taken aback, then his expression darkened, and the coldness in his gaze made her feel uneasy.
"Divorce? Who said I want to divorce you?" He snorted coldly, a mocking smile curling at the corners of his lips, his dark eyes glinting with frost. "Wife, when I mentioned divorce before, you were the one who disagreed. Now you say you want a divorce, and you think I would just accept it? That's too dismissive of me!"
"You..." Jiang Chengmu's opposition exceeded her expectations, and for a moment, she felt guilty.
"What? When you were making things difficult for me back then, weren't you quite capable? Now that you suddenly bring up divorce, what trick are you trying to play?" He sneered, leaning closer to her, his piercing gaze almost penetrating her. "Wife, you wouldn't want to be ungrateful, would you? Are we not going to repay the life-saving grace our family has given?"
"You!" Biting her lip, she furrowed her brows and sighed lightly. "Didn't you always want a divorce? Besides, don't you want to marry the person you love?"
"I'm not that easy to get rid of. Don't think that just because you say this, I'll agree to a divorce. Not a chance!"
"What... what do you actually want?" Jiang Chengmu's attitude was beyond her expectations. Green Qi bit her lip, unable to come up with a good countermeasure. Although Jiang Chengmu was easier to read than Mu Tongzi, this conversation left no room for negotiation and clearly had no need to continue.
"I'll let you know soon what I want!" He stood up coldly and yanked Green Qi from her seat, dragging her out of the café despite her struggles.
"Jiang Chengmu, what are you doing? Let go of me!" When he dragged her into the elevator, she thought he would finally let go of her. However, Jiang Chengmu turned his head coldly to glance at her while still gripping her tightly.
Before she could press the close button, a tall figure entered the elevator. Upon seeing the familiar face of Xue Yiyang, Green Qi's expression stiffened as she stood frozen in place.
Today was truly unlucky; not only was she entangled with Jiang Chengmu but now she had to encounter Xue Yiyang in such an embarrassing situation.
Standing aside, Xue Yiyang silently observed the two holding hands. Noticing Green Qi's unusual expression, Jiang Chengmu turned to look at the man beside him with slight surprise. "Oh, it's Young Master Xue. What a coincidence!"
"Yes, what a coincidence!" Xue Yiyang replied lightly. However, this remark fell into Green Qi's ears with a different meaning.
She slightly raised her head, her gaze landing on that tall figure, still dressed in his favorite white clothes. She hardly had the courage to look again, lowering her eyes but faintly sensing the gaze beside her, which felt like a silent and intense scrutiny that made her somewhat flustered.
Almost instinctively, she struggled against Jiang Chengmu's grip on her wrist, but he tightened his hold even more. She couldn't help but look up at him, her delicate face showing a hint of annoyance.
With Xue Yiyang nearby, she dared not speak out and could only bite her lip and endure.
The short elevator ride of ten floors felt unusually long to her.
Finally, when the elevator reached the ground floor and the doors opened, she quickly pulled Jiang Chengmu out with her. Her unusual speed made Jiang Chengmu furrow his brows in thought.
"What's wrong with you?" He suddenly stopped and pulled her over forcefully, the abrupt motion causing pain in her arm that made her grit her teeth.
