Sitting in the spacious limousine, she turned to glance at the silent man beside her. Remembering the prize he had mentioned earlier, she hesitated for a moment before speaking, "Should I buy the dress for you myself, or will you come with me?"
The man, who had been resting with his eyes closed, slowly opened them. His lazy gaze fell on her delicate face. "Let's go back to the hotel first, and then I'll go with you."
"Okay!" Nodding, she fell silent again, and the carriage became quiet once more.
Upon arriving at the hotel, she had just returned to her room and set down her luggage when she heard a knock at the door. She opened it to see the figure standing outside and stepped aside to let him in.
Mu Tongzi had changed into a light-colored casual outfit, looking more refined. His every gesture exuded an air of elegance.
It seemed that no matter what he wore, he could always showcase his own charm, as if he didn't have to do anything to become the center of attention.
"Are you ready? Let's head out soon!" After surveying the suite, his gaze finally landed on her.
"I'll be ready in a moment!" Coming back to her senses, she hurriedly grabbed her bag and took out a pair of flat shoes from the closet to change into.
A shadow loomed over her, and she looked up in surprise to see the man holding her ankle. Startled, she gasped.
Taking the shoes that were on the carpet, he crouched down and gently helped her put them on. The coolness against her ankle made her shiver slightly.
In her entire life, aside from when she was little and her father had helped her with her shoes a few times, even Xue Yiyang, who had doted on her later on, had never done such a thing for her.
Yet here was this distinguished man, humbling himself to help her put on shoes. They were neither family nor lovers; this unexpected feeling of being cherished was something she found hard to accept at that moment.
Putting on her shoes, Mu Tongzi slowly stood up. Seeing her still sitting there in a daze, he reached out his hand to her and said, "Let's go! We should eat first!"
She looked up in a daze and saw his long, clean hand in front of her. Without thinking, she reached out and placed her hand in his palm. The coolness from his hand brought her an inexplicable sense of comfort.
Holding hands, they walked out of the hotel. The warmth of their palms and the coolness intertwined, merging into a gentle temperature.
A car was already waiting at the hotel entrance. Once inside, she turned to glance at the man in the driver's seat but said nothing.
On the bustling commercial street filled with various shops and restaurants, they had lunch at a Western restaurant. Green Qi specifically searched for nearby brands of Counter on her phone before pulling Mu Tongzi toward a Counter store she preferred.
All the way, Mu Tongzi held her hand tightly as if afraid she would get lost, or perhaps he enjoyed this secretive feeling.
Since they were in B City, she didn't have to worry about running into acquaintances and felt free to let him hold her hand.
"Is tonight's banquet a private gathering or a business dinner?" She turned her head and quietly asked him.
"It's a business dinner hosted by local tycoons. I received an invitation earlier, and since I was coming here to discuss a collaboration, I accepted it."
"Since it's a business dinner, choosing a dress is important. I know you don't like wearing branded clothes, but this brand has excellent quality. Although it's pricey, it's worth it." She paused at the entrance of Counter, looking at the brand logo above her head, and smiled as she spoke to the man beside her.
Seeing her praise for the brand, Mu Tongzi nodded and led her into the store.
