The sound of an explosion ignited by both hands caught the attention of the over four hundred members of the Spirit Corps behind. George took a step back, watching as Miao Chengmin transformed into an arc in the sky.
"Is the boss really going alone?" Several members of the Spirit Corps approached George and asked.
George silently nodded—it's not that Miao Chengmin didn't trust them, but he knew very well that aside from himself, no one in the Spirit Corps could match Virgil. Miao Chengmin had a chance to return alone, but if he brought his brothers along, it would likely render the Time-Space King's efforts futile.
"Brother Miao is a hero," George said, gazing at the meteor falling into the distant mountains. "He always takes on the most dangerous tasks himself, using all his strength to protect us."
Boom!
Surrounded by a black energy field, Miao Chengmin knelt on the ground, one hand supporting himself as he slowly raised his head with the energy field dissipating.
Where was the grave? Miao Chengmin wasn't sure and could only search for it little by little. He observed that he should be upwind, and with the strong winds, it was difficult to detect energy fluctuations.
Miao Chengmin had no idea how far Virgil's influence had spread, but it certainly wasn't small. He had been very cautious, yet unfortunately, he always managed to step on a few fallen leaves, which sounded extremely loud in the quiet dark forest.
"Ouch..." Miao Chengmin sighed in frustration as he looked down at the dark ground—though he couldn't see clearly, he felt that these fallen leaves were messing with his mindset.
Ahead was a cliff-like gap; Miao Chengmin estimated that he could see the grave from there if Virgil hadn't arrived—then that would be best.
There were too many tree trunks along the way; Miao Chengmin could roughly guess their thickness. As he approached one tree and was about to move forward, he suddenly stopped.
Not far away, the tree closest to the edge struck Miao Chengmin as odd—it was significantly wider at its base than at its trunk above.
Miao Chengmin felt something was off; why was there such a tree?
Wait a minute, could there be a possibility...
Miao Chengmin thought for a moment and deliberately stepped on the ground a few times. With a crackling sound, he stepped on some fallen leaves.
To his surprise, the trunk below twisted slightly, and then it seemed like a head peeked out from behind the tree, looking around.
Sure enough, Miao Chengmin's guess was correct; someone was sitting there.
"Could it be Virgil?"
Miao Chengmin didn't dare to approach; he couldn't see clearly in the dark. However, he noticed that this person seemed to emit no light and blended perfectly with the night—if they absorbed Chaos Crystals, they should have energy fluctuations.
"Uh... how do I get to the village?" Miao Chengmin asked casually, hoping this person couldn't see him clearly.
"From your appearance, you don't seem like someone from the village," came a female voice.
Indeed, Miao Chengmin's energy fluctuations were too obvious and completely exposed him.
"Let me guess; you're not even one of the Vamulel people," said the woman.
Miao Chengmin sensed something unusual in her cold tone and deliberately took a few steps back. "Vamulel?"
"Don't be afraid; I won't harm you," she said while moving closer to Miao Chengmin. "I'm a good person. I came to this planet with someone named Nars. However, he chose to join The Celestial Warriors Alliance while I preferred freedom, so we parted ways."
Miao Chengmin didn't have much impression of Nars's name, but he seemed to recall someone mentioning an alliance before.
"Is it... I remember someone in armor, another with two chains hanging from their wrists, a sniper, and another..."
"The azure-colored person."
"Yes."
"He is my comrade."
Miao Chengmin looked at this shadow before him with skepticism and asked, "Really?"
"What benefit would I have in lying to you? We don't even know each other," she replied.
"Then why are you telling me all this?" Miao Chengmin countered.
"Because I believe we are on the same side," she said. "Your description just now was very accurate; you must have dealt with The Celestial Warriors quite often."
"Uh..." Miao Chengmin wanted to reveal the truth but held back. "Yes."
The woman seemed to turn away slightly and said, "Do you know why I refused to join them?"
"Why?" Miao Chengmin asked.
"I want to stop Ban Sa, unless they can obtain Chaos Crystals and Life Crystals. However, now Life Crystals are already in his hands, and Ban Sa is about to come and take away the Chaos Crystals. It's impossible with just them, do you understand?" the woman said.
Miao Chengmin ultimately had a kind heart. After some internal struggle, he said, "Not necessarily."
"Hmm?"
"I absorbed the energy of the Chaos Crystals."
The woman suddenly turned around and walked straight up to Miao Chengmin, staring at his glowing eye sockets. "So you know where the Chaos Crystals are?"
How is that possible? He can actually absorb the energy of the Chaos Crystals? This person is definitely not simple.
"This seems unrelated to you," Miao Chengmin stated, not intending to continue this topic.
"It is related! If we can effectively utilize the energy of the Chaos Crystals, our chances will greatly increase!" The woman's voice became anxious and hurried.
Miao Chengmin looked at her and suddenly had an idea. "Take me to the cemetery here, and I'll tell you."
The woman suddenly fell silent. Miao Chengmin could sense that she was sizing him up.
"You..." the woman stammered, "It smells so bad, like dead people."
"That's why I want to go to the cemetery," Miao Chengmin replied casually.
Sure enough, the woman seemed quite frightened, gasping in shock before running off without a word.
"Where are you running to?"
Miao Chengmin instantly teleported in front of her.
The stench of decay from him nearly made the woman faint. She had no choice but to say, "Fine, fine, fine! I'll take you there, but please stay away from me."
The woman led the way while Miao Chengmin followed her slowly, gradually falling behind.
"What are you doing?" the woman turned around.
"I don't want to step on any leaves," Miao Chengmin shrugged.
"Tch." The woman pointed at a clearing below. "We're almost there."
"Let me explain first. Recently, tomb raiding incidents have been frequent. To prevent their ancestors from being dug up, the village has set up camp near the cemetery. You'd better be careful," she said.
Miao Chengmin quickened his pace to catch up and asked, "How do you know?"
"Because something happened," the woman replied without looking at him. "Stay away from me."
Miao Chengmin frowned as they reached above the cemetery.
"By the way, what's your name?" the woman asked.
"Miao Chengmin," he replied.
The woman nodded and glanced at the dark shadow beside her. "So what are our terms?"
"Just put it on hold for now," Miao Chengmin said as he jumped down without looking back.
"Miao Chengmin..." The woman silently repeated his name in her mind. He kept his mouth shut and even absorbed the energy of the Chaos Crystals. He poses a significant threat...
Upon landing, Miao Chengmin walked into the cemetery. After a few steps, he stepped on something soft. Unable to see clearly, he bent down to feel it.
However, Miao Chengmin couldn't discern much; he could only feel upwards until—
He touched something hard and round.
Startled, Miao Chengmin quickly cupped it with both hands and leaned in closer to look.
It was a person.
With a startle, Miao Chengmin stood up abruptly. Remembering what the woman had said, he couldn't help but shift his gaze forward.
This was an ominous sign.
"Hey!" Miao Chengmin shouted at the woman above. "Come down for a moment!"
"No need."
With a crisp click, the strong light instantly illuminated the entire graveyard. Miao Chengmin turned around, ultimately confirming the ominous sign that lingered in his heart.
In the graveyard, the slain villagers lay scattered, their blood mingling together to form a river that flowed along the dirt trench by Miao Chengmin's feet, as if guiding him to move forward.
"Uh..." In shock, Miao Chengmin heard a painful groan. He ran towards the sound and saw a villager writhing in agony in a pool of blood.
"Still alive!" Miao Chengmin quickly crouched down and used the strong light to locate the deep cut on the villager's body, intending to use his energy to stop the bleeding.
"Whoosh!"
"Ah!" The villager screamed in agony, his eyes bulging out. Before he died, he looked not at Miao Chengmin but at the woman above him.
A flying knife had precisely pierced the innocent villager's heart.
"What are you doing?!" Miao Chengmin shouted furiously, gathering a Chaos Sphere in his hand, ready to attack at any moment.
"Sorry, I killed too quickly and missed one," the woman sneered.
"The Celestial Warriors do not kill indiscriminately!" Miao Chengmin roared.
"Did I say I was one?" The woman waved her hand and threw another flying knife. Miao Chengmin reacted swiftly and knocked the knife to the ground.
"Thank you for the information, Miao Chengmin. Until we meet again," the woman said, pointing at the knife embedded in the ground.
Miao Chengmin looked at the blade flashing red with urgency as it emitted a beeping sound.
"Let's get acquainted," the woman turned and walked into the darkness, "My name is Stalker."
Boom!
A massive explosion instantly engulfed the entire graveyard, with powerful shockwaves snapping nearby trees like twigs. In an instant, flames shot up into the sky, shaking the earth as fire tongues danced in midair, illuminating Miao Chengmin's ash-gray face.
As the blazing inferno finally subsided, Miao Chengmin reacted just before the explosion occurred. He soared into the air, brushed off the dust from his clothes, and fixed his glowing eyes on the forest interior, searching for that killer; however, Stalker had already vanished into the shadows.
"People from Ban Sa," Miao Chengmin's expression darkened.
M City Military Base
"This is the basement; it should be safe here, right?" Xu Yicheng asked General Jiang, "I mean, no one will come here?"
"It shouldn't... but I can't guarantee it," General Jiang replied as he patted Xu Yicheng on the shoulder. "It'll be fine; if there's any problem, I'll take responsibility."
Xu Yicheng gave General Jiang a thumbs-up and took out a Summoning Stone, beginning to chant quietly.
As everyone watched expectantly, a Time Portal opened up. Titan Aibo emerged holding grilled fish skewers but quickly turned back upon seeing so many familiar faces behind Xu Yicheng, tossing the skewers back into his nest.
"Did we interrupt him during dinner?" Liu Xuan poked Xu Yicheng.
