The classmate named Huan Huan felt embarrassed by the comments made about her. Just as she was about to retort, there was a knock on the door, "Knock, knock." When the door opened, Jiang Jun walked in.
"Teacher Gong, happy birthday!" Jiang Jun said, holding a box of birthday cake!
"Jiang Jun! What are you doing here?" Teacher Gong was both surprised and delighted as he took the birthday cake. "Let me introduce you all; this is... Jiang Jun!" Teacher Gong suddenly realized he didn't know how to introduce Jiang Jun. He had met Jiang Jun in the school cafeteria when he was working part-time. It wouldn't be appropriate to share that with his classmates. Now, it seemed that Jiang Jun was doing well, but Teacher Gong wasn't sure what Jiang Jun had been up to lately.
"Gong Shengli, who is he to you?" A few people were not pleased with Jiang Jun's intrusion and grumbled to themselves, with Chen Can directly asking.
"I am a student of Teacher Gong!" Jiang Jun noticed Teacher Gong's awkwardness and quickly introduced himself.
A student? It was quite rude for a student to barge into a teacher's private space!
Since Jiang Jun had helped him out last time, which led to his promotion, Teacher Gong felt grateful. Although there was no concrete evidence that Jiang Jun had helped him get promoted, who else could it have been?
Therefore, despite his classmates' displeasure, Teacher Gong introduced Jiang Jun to them. "Jiang Jun, these four are my classmates: Chen Can, Wang Huanhuan..."
"Hello! Nice to meet you!" Jiang Jun greeted them. Wang Huanhuan saw that Jiang Jun was just a young person dressed ordinarily and frowned slightly, ignoring him. She seemed to have a distaste for someone like Jiang Jun.
"Waiter, add another set of chopsticks!" Teacher Gong disregarded his classmates' dissatisfaction.
Jiang Jun seemed oblivious to their expressions and confidently sat next to Teacher Gong. On the other side of Teacher Gong sat Wang Huanhuan.
"Teacher Gong, I toast to you; happy birthday!" Jiang Jun filled his glass and raised it in salute.
"Thank you! Come on, everyone, let's drink!"
Everyone raised their glasses in celebration, temporarily forgetting the discomfort brought by Jiang Jun.
"Xiao Jiang, what do you do?" Even though Jiang Jun claimed to be Teacher Gong's student, everyone could tell from his age that he wasn't currently a student but rather an alumnus. Since Gong Shengli hadn't introduced his current profession, one classmate had to ask Jiang Jun himself.
"I do business!" Jiang Jun replied casually.
"Oh, may I ask what business your father is in?" Chen Can now ran a company and thought that Jiang Jun didn't seem like a businessman. Since Jiang Jun claimed to be in business, it must be that his family was involved in it. Chen Can probed further to see if there was any reputation worth pursuing in their circle.
"My father has passed away."
What? Passed away! Was his mother wealthy then?
"What does your mother do?" This time it was Wang Huanhuan who asked.
"My mother passed away when I was born."
Both parents gone! What kind of business could such a young person run? Gong Shengli must be quite pleased; perhaps this is just a poor student? Chen Can thought to himself, struggling to recall any businessman with the surname Jiang.
Chen Can looked at Teacher Gong. "Victory, since Xiao Jiang's parents are no longer around, I suppose you've helped him quite a bit, right?" It must be so! That's why this student came to express his gratitude.
Teacher Gong nodded, "I helped a little in the beginning. He doesn't need it anymore now."
Jiang Jun started to eat quickly. From the way he was eating, it was clear that he hadn't been eating well these days.
"Jiang Jun, didn't your father pass away recently? Which company did he work for?" someone thought to ask.
"Dongsheng Company. I wonder if anyone has heard of it? My father's name was Yang Zhao!"
Dongsheng Company? Yang Zhao? I've heard of that person. Yang Zhao passed away suddenly not long ago; it was reported in the newspapers.
Not long after Yang Zhao's death, there were rumors that Dongsheng Company was going to go bankrupt. Strangely enough, Dongsheng Company didn't end up closing down.
So, Jiang Jun must be inheriting the business from Dongsheng Company. No wonder he doesn’t have to wash dishes anymore.
Chen Can chuckled inwardly. Although Dongsheng Company didn't go bankrupt, its strength still couldn't match his own company’s. And with Jiang Jun being so young, Dongsheng Company would surely decline even further in the future!
"Jiang Jun, may I ask why your last name is Jiang when your father's last name is Yang?" Wang Huanhuan asked politely, but her eyes revealed disdain. The other three also showed curious expressions upon hearing this.
"I took my mother's surname," Jiang Jun replied lightly.
Upon hearing this, everyone looked as if they suddenly understood. However, aside from Teacher Gong, the others clearly held a condescending attitude towards Jiang Jun.
After drinking and cutting the cake, the birthday party came to an end. Jiang Jun said his goodbyes and left first.
Teacher Gong went to the front desk to settle the bill, and several classmates followed him. When they reached the front desk, Chen Can quickly pulled out a bank card before Teacher Gong could and handed it to the cashier with a rather stylish gesture.
"Bill for Box 306!"
The front desk cashier looked at Chen Can strangely. "Sir, Box 306 has already been paid for with a super VIP card!"
What? This is embarrassing!
"Gong Shengli, why didn’t you mention someone else paid for you? Who has the power to possess a super VIP card for this hotel?" Chen Can said unhappily.
"It was Jiang Jun; I didn’t know he paid!" Upon hearing that someone had settled the bill, Teacher Gong immediately understood it must have been Jiang Jun.
"Jiang Jun? How could he have a super VIP card?" The four classmates were taken aback!
...
Jiang Jun continued walking home.
On the way back, Jiang Jun suddenly noticed a crowd gathered at the street corner, seemingly around someone who had collapsed on the ground. Since he was passing by, he decided to take a look.
A girl lay on the ground, her face pale and her breathing weak. A woman was leaning over her, crying and lamenting about how unfortunate her daughter was.
Jiang Jun asked a bystander and learned that the mother and daughter had just come out of a nearby bar when the girl suddenly fell ill and collapsed. Someone had called for an ambulance, but it seemed that by the time it arrived, the girl would be gone.
Jiang Jun took a closer look at the girl and realized what was happening. A blood vessel in her brain was blocked! The brain cannot lack blood; if he waited just a few more seconds, the girl would be lost.
Without thinking much, Jiang Jun crouched down, turned the girl's face back with one hand, and quickly slapped the back of her head with the other.
These actions happened so quickly that the crowd didn’t have time to gasp, and the woman didn’t have time to stop him.
“What are you doing? Are you a doctor?”
“Hey, kid, don’t mess around if you’re not a doctor!”
The onlookers reacted and some shouted to stop him.
“I’m not a doctor, but I’m saving her!” Jiang Jun explained to the crowd.
“Who is this ugly kid? Not even a doctor and trying to save my daughter?” The woman crying over the girl yelled at Jiang Jun.
“Auntie, look at your daughter; I’ve already saved her!”
Oh, the daughter’s complexion was returning to a healthy color.
“Cough… cough…” The girl woke up and coughed twice.
“He really saved her! This kid is amazing! Not even a doctor and he can bring someone back to life; it’s truly remarkable!”
The crowd began to murmur among themselves.
“Thank you so much, young man! I’m sorry for misunderstanding you earlier!” The woman quickly apologized.
“No problem, Auntie! What exactly happened just now?”
“We had just come out of that bar over there. We hadn’t walked far when my daughter suddenly collapsed!” The woman pointed to the nearby bar.
“Could you tell me what happened inside the bar?”
