"Do you have a toothbrush?" Chen Yue asked.
Since they wanted to know where Chen Yue had been and what he had done, he decided to tell them.
"Chen Yue?!" A surprised male voice came from behind him.
Chen Yue turned around and saw it was Bai Caicai.
"What a coincidence," Bai Caicai said excitedly as he walked up to Chen Yue. He was ten centimeters shorter than Chen Yue, smiling as he stood on his tiptoes, draping his arms around Chen Yue's neck. Chen Yue smirked and bent his knees slightly.
"What did you do this summer? I couldn't find you anywhere," Bai Caicai said, releasing his grip and gently poking Chen Yue's chest with his finger.
Chen Yue stood up straight and replied, "I didn't do much, but you didn't look for me either."
Bai Caicai chuckled awkwardly and said, "I didn't even know where you lived. You're so mysterious; I sent you a message, but you didn't reply."
"Message? When did you send that?" Chen Yue asked, taken aback.
"Yesterday," Bai Caicai said as he looked around the shelves.
"Yesterday? Maybe my phone ran out of data," Chen Yue explained, but then he scrutinized Bai Caicai and asked, "School starts next Monday; today is Saturday. What did you want from me yesterday?"
"Ahem," Bai Caicai cleared his throat twice, grabbed a toothbrush from the shelf, and stuffed it into Chen Yue's hand. "I just wanted to ask if you finished your homework."
Chen Yue rolled his eyes at him, then picked up a tube of toothpaste from the shelf and said, "I did; I'll send it to you later."
"I'll go with you to get it," Bai Caicai said, his eyes lighting up.
Chen Yue lowered his gaze, thought for a moment, and replied, "Alright."
Bai Caicai grabbed two bags of crispy noodles for himself.
After paying, Bai Caicai stayed right next to Chen Yue and shared one bag of crispy noodles with him.
Bai Caicai had a baby face that made him look very obedient; Chen Yue enjoyed talking to well-behaved people and said kindly, "Thank you."
Then he took out two milk candies from his pocket and handed them to Bai Caicai.
Bai Caicai tore open the candy wrapper, popped the candy into his mouth, and grinned widely with his bright white teeth. "Thank you, Brother Yue."
Chen Yue responded with a WeChat message while lightly covering his pocket; the dagger inside was vibrating incessantly.
He gripped the dagger tightly to keep it still, but his heart raced uncontrollably, accompanied by a suffocating feeling as if every bone in his body was itching unbearably.
"Brother Yue? What's wrong?" Bai Caicai asked, slightly opening his lips in surprise as he looked at Chen Yue with concern.
"It's nothing." Chen Yue bent down, feeling like he was about to explode, truly from the inside out, breaking apart piece by piece.
Bai Caicai said worriedly, "You're sweating all over your forehead."
Chen Yue threw out a quick remark, "You wait here for me, I need to go to the bathroom," and hurriedly walked toward a corner.
Bai Caicai shouted, "No! Bro! There's no bathroom here!"
"It's fine!" Chen Yue suppressed the power within him and held his breath as he spoke.
Chen Yue dashed into an alley, gasping for air. He punched the wall, feeling much better after releasing some of his strength, and then pounded the wall a few more times.
Finally relaxing, he exhaled a breath of stale air and opened his tightly shut eyes, noticing a small crack in the bricks.
Is this it?!
Chen Yue questioned this ability of his. So all the pain was directed at him, with no harm done to the outside world?
How useless.
Chen Yue showed a look of disdain, clapped his hands, and walked out of the alley.
Seeing Chen Yue come out, Bai Caicai quickly asked, "Are you feeling better?"
Chen Yue replied, "Much better."
After thinking for a long time, Bai Caicai bit her lip awkwardly and couldn't help but ask curiously, "Bro, you wanted to go to the bathroom, but there are no residents in that alley and no bathroom either... How did you solve it? Did you...?"
"I didn't!" Chen Yue interrupted firmly.
Bai Caicai said earnestly, "Right, I misunderstood you. How could you do something like that..."
"Ahem," Chen Yue reminded her.
Bai Caicai continued, "How could you do such a thing?"
Chen Yue shook his head helplessly and said, "Alright, let's go get the homework and catch up."
Chen Yue arrived at that unpleasant wealthy neighborhood from yesterday again.
At the bottom of the apartment building, Chen Yue said to Bai Caicai, "You wait for me here."
Bai Caicai nodded slightly.
