After our escape from the deep sea, we returned to land, but the unease in our hearts did not diminish. The signal from the last fragment on the Navigator flickered intermittently, as if hinting at some unpredictable crisis. Jack and I hurriedly prepared for our next adventure, while the shadow of Zhao Wuji loomed over us.
We arrived at a remote island, the closest departure point to the Atlantis ruins. The sea wind howled, and the waves crashed against the rocky shore with deafening sounds. Jack and I stood by the sea, gazing at the flickering signal on the Navigator.
"Li Jin, we have gathered six fragments; only one remains," Jack said, his voice tinged with fatigue but mostly filled with determination.
I nodded. "Yes, the last fragment will determine whether we can restore the continuity of time. But Zhao Wuji won't give up easily; we must be fully prepared."
Just as we were about to set sail, Zhao Wuji's pursuers appeared again. They surged towards us like ghosts from all directions, surrounding us completely. Zhao Wuji stood on a speedboat, sneering at us.
"Li Jin, don't be naive. Do you really think you can restore time? Stop dreaming and hand over the fragments you have; I guarantee your safety. Otherwise, you won't leave this island," Zhao Wuji threatened.
A surge of intense anger rose within me. "Zhao Wuji, your guarantees are worthless. Your greed and ambition will only bring disaster to the world."
Zhao Wuji's expression darkened. "Then don't blame me for being rude." He waved his hand, signaling his men to attack us.
The battle erupted on the island as we stood back to back against Zhao Wuji's subordinates. They wielded advanced weapons while we had only the fragments in our hands and our trust in each other.
In the heat of battle, I suddenly felt dizzy; the abnormal fluctuations of the Time Rift affected reality, causing our movements to slow down. Zhao Wuji clearly noticed this too, a smug smile appearing on his lips.
"Li Jin, look around you; the rift in time is widening. How does it feel to be powerless?" Zhao Wuji mocked.
I gritted my teeth but grew increasingly calm inside. "Jack, we must find Zhao Wuji's source of interference and stop his technology from continuing to affect the Time Rift."
Jack nodded, and we began searching for Zhao Wuji's technological device amidst the fight. During a narrow escape, I discovered a high-tech device hidden behind some rocks; it was emitting a strong signal that interfered with the Time Rift.
"There! Jack, we need to destroy it!" I shouted, pointing at the device.
We started moving toward it, but Zhao Wuji's men continuously obstructed us. In a moment of breakthrough, I harnessed the power of the Sun Fragment to create a blinding light directed at the device while Jack rushed in with all his strength to destroy it.
The explosion of the device caused a massive tremor, and the abnormal fluctuations of the Time Rift began to weaken. Zhao Wuji's face turned grim: "No, this can't be happening!" he roared. "You can't defeat me; I am the master of time!"
We did not stop but continued fighting against Zhao Wuji's men. After a clever maneuver, we successfully repelled our pursuers and rushed toward the sea to search for the last fragment.
Seeing this, Zhao Wuji personally drove his speedboat after us. The sea was turbulent as two speedboats raced through the waves, a contest of speed and strategy unfolding on the water.
In a moment of closeness, I used the power of the Stardust Fragment to shoot a beam of bright light at Zhao Wuji's speedboat, causing him to briefly lose direction. Seizing this opportunity, Jack accelerated, and we finally shook off Zhao Wuji as we headed toward the direction of Atlantis ruins.
