Chapter 40
The next day, Lu Weize was called to the office by the homeroom teacher because of the fight.
After two classes, he still hadn't returned.
The class was buzzing with rumors that Lu Weize would definitely face punishment this time.
I listened to the discussions, feeling a bit anxious.
"Lu Weize really got himself into trouble this time; he’s probably going to get disciplined."
"Yeah, I heard Xu Fei was seriously injured, and his family is really angry. They want the school to give an explanation."
Cao Da and a few other boys were discussing it animatedly.
Zhao Xinghai walked over to me and asked, "Lin Chu, were you with Lu Weize yesterday?"

I wanted to explain when suddenly a boy ran over, excitedly saying, "Lin Chu, Lu Weize told you not to say too much."
Qiao Qiran heard about Lu Weize's fight and rushed in front of me, asking, "Were you with him last night?"
I nodded slightly.
Qiao Qiran gritted his teeth and said, "What did you do?"
I lowered my head and replied softly, "Nothing."
Qiao Qiran clenched his fists and turned to confront Lu Weize. I hurriedly grabbed his arm and said, "Qiao Qiran, what are you doing?"
With a dark expression, Qiao Qiran replied, "It's none of your business."
I held onto his sleeve and insisted, "Qiao Qiran, Lu Weize didn't do anything wrong. You can't cause trouble for him."
Qiao Qiran coldly said, "Lin Chu, don't be fooled by him."
I shook my head and said, "Lu Weize didn't deceive me."
After a few seconds of silence, Qiao Qiran turned and walked out of the classroom.
I chased after him and asked, "Qiao Qiran, where are you going?"
Qiao Qiran stopped in his tracks, looked at me seriously, and said, "I'm not going to find Lu Weize. You can relax now."
I sighed in relief and said, "Thank you, Qiao Qiran."
Qiao Qiran snorted lightly and replied, "Don't get me wrong; I just don't want you to be sad."
In the academic affairs office.
Xu Father pointed at Lu Weize angrily and exclaimed, "He's the one who hit my son!"
The academic affairs director looked at Lu Weize and asked, "Lu Weize, can you explain what happened?"
Lu Weize said lightly, "I didn't hit anyone."
The Dean of Students frowned, "Are you really saying you didn't hit anyone?"
Lu Weize nodded, "I didn't hit anyone."
Xu Father shouted angrily, "You're talking nonsense! My son is in the hospital!"
The Dean of Students looked at Xu Father and tried to calm him down, "Mr. Xu, please calm down."
Xu Father glared at Lu Weize, "This violent boy must be expelled!"
The door to the office was pushed open, and Zhao Min walked in.
She approached Lu Weize and asked, "What happened?"
The Dean of Students explained, "Student Lu Weize is suspected of hitting someone, and the victim is already hospitalized."
Zhao Min turned to Lu Weize, "Did you do it?"
Lu Weize shook his head.
Zhao Min looked at the Dean of Students, "My son says he didn't hit anyone, so he didn't."
Xu Father retorted angrily, "Just because you say he didn't hit anyone doesn't mean it's true. Do you think this school is your family business?"
Zhao Min replied coldly, "Sir, please watch your language."
Xu Father pointed at Lu Weize and cursed, "This little brat beat my son like that; I will make sure he gets kicked out of this school!"
Zhao Min narrowed her eyes, "If you want him expelled from school, I'm afraid you don't have that authority."
Xu Father’s face turned pale with anger: “Fine, we’ll see about this!”
Yang Ming followed behind Zhao Min and timidly said, “Director, I can testify that Lu Weize was with me all night.”
The academic director asked in confusion, “With you all night?”
Yang Ming nodded earnestly, “Lu Weize was tutoring me last night; we were together the whole time.”
Xu Father snorted coldly, “Who knows if you two are just putting on a show?”
Zhao Min replied calmly, “Whether Lu Weize actually hit someone still needs to be investigated.”
The homeroom teacher tried to mediate: “Alright, everyone calm down. The school will handle this matter properly.”
Lu Weize looked at me and asked, “What are you doing here?”
Qiao Qiran scoffed, “How would I know you’re so capable that you sent someone to the hospital?”
Lu Weize laughed derisively, “I’ve hit plenty of people; is this your first day knowing me?”
Qiao Qiran was left speechless and glared at Lu Weize.
Suddenly, Lu Weize’s mother appeared, catching him off guard.
What surprised him even more was that Zhao Min actually had Yang Ming come out to testify.
Yang Ming glanced at Lu Weize and explained, “Lu Weize was helping me with my studies last night.”
The academic director remained silent.
The excuse of needing to catch up on studies was really unpopular among classmates.
Lu Weize scratched his head, looking a bit awkward. "My mom needed me for something, so I didn't go."
Zhao Min glanced at the academic director and said calmly, "My son didn't hit anyone; I'll handle this matter and also visit Xu Fei in the hospital."
The academic director sighed in relief. "Thank you for your help."
Lu Weize caught up with me, grabbing my wrist and pushing me against the wall.
I was startled. "Lu Weize, what are you doing?"
Lu Weize had a serious expression. "What were you doing at the academic office door?"
Feeling guilty, I lowered my gaze. "I... I wanted to testify for you."
Lu Weize raised an eyebrow. "Testify?"
I nodded. "Yeah, I want to help you."
He pinched my chin, lifting my face to force me to meet his gaze. "Lin Chu, are you an idiot? Is this something a girl should get involved in?"
I blinked in surprise. "I just wanted to help you..."
Lu Weize sighed, then lowered his head and kissed my lips.
I froze, eyes wide open as I stared at Lu Weize.
He closed his eyes and softly said, "Silly girl, let me handle this."
He let go of me and held my hand, saying, "Don't do anything foolish in the future."
I lowered my head, my ears turning red.
Lu Weize's phone rang, and he answered the call.
Zhao Min's voice came through, "Lu Weize, I've already dealt with Xu Fei's issue."
Lu Weize replied, "I know."
Zhao Min asked, "Are you with Lin Chu?"
Lu Weize glanced at me and said, "Yeah."
Zhao Min said lightly, "Take good care of Lin Chu, don't let anything happen to her."
Lu Weize hung up the phone and called Zhao Min back, "Mom, I'm still worried."
Zhao Min chuckled, "Don't worry, Mom knows what to do."
Only then did Lu Weize feel reassured.
Chapter 41
In the evening.
I sat in the classroom, listening to my classmates discuss Lu Weize.
"Lu Weize's mom is amazing; she directly found someone to transfer Xu Fei to a private school."
"I heard about that too; Xu Fei's dad got demoted."
"Tsk tsk tsk, messing with Lu Weize is really bad luck."

After school, Lu Weize called: "Lin Chu, I'm waiting for you downstairs."
I ran downstairs. Lu Weize was standing under the streetlight, the warm yellow light casting a gentle glow on his face.
Lu Weize looked at me and smiled, "Come here, Lin Chu."
I walked up to him.
Lu Weize ruffled my hair affectionately and said, "You were scared today, right?"
I shook my head and looked at Lu Weize: "Lu Weize, I..."
Lu Weize reached out and pressed his finger against my lips: "Don't say anything; I already know."
My nose tinged with emotion: "Lu Weize, am I really that useless?"
Lu Weize smiled and shook his head: "How could that be? My Lin Chu is the best."
He held my hand and smiled, saying, "Let's go, I'll take you to eat something delicious."
Lu Weize received a call from Zhao Xinghai: "Brother Lu, what are you doing? Same old place, waiting for you."
Lu Weize glanced at me and replied, "No time."
Zhao Xinghai said, "Come on, are you serious? You're stuck to Sister-in-law every day."
Lu Weize raised an eyebrow and asked, "What's wrong?"
Zhao Xinghai chuckled, "Are you coming or not?"
Lu Weize hung up the phone and said to me, "Lin Chu, do you want to go?"
I nodded.
Lu Weize smiled and said, "Then let's go."
Lu Weize took me to Nocturne Bar.
He stood at the door and told me, "Once we go in, if you don't like it here, just let me know and I'll take you away."
I nodded.
