It seems like she doesn't really like me.
But this is our first meeting, and I haven't even spoken to her.
Could it be that she treats every newcomer this way?
Gu Nian led me into the office and handed me a pile of blueprints. "Look these over tonight; I'll ask you about them tomorrow."
I stared at the unfamiliar blueprints, feeling a bit lost.
Although studying finance requires some knowledge of engineering, it's just the basics. I truly can't understand real engineering drawings.
I bit my lip, feeling a bit awkward. "Manager Lin, these blueprints look quite complicated. I haven't studied engineering before, and I'm struggling a bit. Could you give me some simpler drawings first?"
She scoffed, "This isn't school. Why do you think I would treat you like a teacher would?"
"I..."
I hadn't finished my sentence before she interrupted me. "Song Juan, remember that the company didn't hire you to train you; they want results from you."
"But I'm new and don't know anything."
She glanced at me disdainfully. "That's your problem. The company has provided you with a platform; if you can't deliver results, then get out."
Her gaze pierced through me like a knife. "Song Juan, I assume you don't want to be fired, do you?"
I frowned, finally sensing her hostility.
I looked at her and calmly asked, "Manager Lin seems to have a bias against me?"
"I've seen your profile; you also majored in Finance in college."
"So what?"
"You should know which is harder, the Engineering Department or the Finance Department."
I fell silent.
"So, why did you come to the Engineering Department?"
Looking into her cold eyes, I suddenly understood.
She thought I had gotten in through connections.
No wonder she was targeting me so harshly.
I shook my head. "I don't know."
"You don't know?"
She scoffed, "Then you should just get out of the company right now."
I looked at her seriously. "I came in through campus recruitment; HR assigned me to the Engineering Department. I can't help it."
She stared into my eyes, seemingly trying to determine if I was telling the truth.
After a moment, she looked away. "Then just do your job well."
I nodded and replied earnestly, "I will definitely work hard."
She ignored me afterward and focused on her documents.
Holding the blueprints, I walked out, looking at the dense data on them, feeling a bit of a headache.
Although I have some engineering knowledge, it's only superficial, and I find it a bit challenging to read these blueprints.
But since I've taken on the task, I must complete it diligently.
I returned to my workstation and began studying the blueprints.
Just when I was feeling stuck, a man stopped beside me.
"You're Song Juan, right? I'm Wu Jian."
He looked to be in his early thirties, wearing gold-rimmed glasses, and appeared refined and handsome.
He extended his hand towards me. "I'm your colleague."
I quickly shook his hand and excitedly asked, "Hello, Brother Liu, are you also from the engineering department?"
"Yes."
He nodded and glanced at the blueprints in my hand. "What's wrong? Is there something you don't understand?"
I sighed. "I don't understand any of it."
"I'll teach you how to read the blueprints."
