As Qian Mo journeyed along, he reached the boundary of the Loess Plateau. This time, he truly experienced what it meant to be in a primeval land, a prehistoric world...
It was quite thrilling, at least... much more exciting than staying at home reading the Classic of Mountains and Seas.
Lizards, some as large as horses, with bodies as red as flames, suddenly rose from the ground. Towering dozens of meters high, covered in rocky armor but moving incredibly slowly, was the Rockbone Behemoth...
Qian Mo even witnessed a Giant Ape, also towering several dozen meters tall, with thick, curly fur harder than steel. It lifted a giant python that had been lurking underground waiting for prey and tore it in half. Ignoring the writhing snake body, it began to feast.
However, before Qian Mo could marvel at the Giant Ape's incredible combat power, the ground beneath its feet suddenly turned into a void, causing the Giant Ape to fall through. Faintly, he could hear sounds of digestion coming from below.
Qian Mo had no idea who the owner of those digestive sounds was and didn't want to know! That damned Maze Master kept insisting on letting him experience his journey of the heart, yet so far all he had received was a psychological suggestion to walk up the mountain—nothing else!
In a role-playing game, wouldn't you expect to be given the best sword in the village along with proficiency in cloth armor?
Indeed, Qian Mo now understood why he felt an uncontrollable urge to walk toward the distant peaks from the very beginning. It was entirely the doing of that twisted Specter!
When it sent him here, it had implanted a psychological suggestion. With his Illusion skills, he couldn't shake it off by himself...
So now he found himself fully aware that there were fierce beasts lurking in the deep mountains and marshes—he had just realized what "fierce beasts" meant in the Primordial Era—but he simply couldn't control his legs as they continued to carry him toward the highest mountain...
Stepping out onto the last piece of land of the Loess Plateau, Qian Mo looked up at the peak that had been on his mind...
"Wow... so high... Damn Specter, you can't be serious about wanting me to climb that..."
Using scientific methods to estimate the height of this mountain, he arrived at a conclusion that was utterly unscientific.
To put it in popular terms, compared to this mountain, Mount Everest might as well be a little brother... like a little brother among little brothers among little brothers...
Retracting his gaze from afar, Qian Mo noticed a distinct line perfectly separating the Loess Plateau he came from and the area where the mountain stood.
It was as if... there were two different maps. On one side of the line, the sun blazed high in the sky; it was hot and dry with swirling yellow sand and lurking dangers. Giant beasts fought fiercely against each other for survival.
On this side of the line, birds sang and flowers bloomed; it was warm like spring with gentle breezes caressing his face. In the distance lay lush green grasslands where even unicorns with noble grace strolled leisurely by the water's edge, looking serene and content.
What a warm and beautiful scene it was in this highland marsh area!
"Wow... roar... splash..." Well... Qian Mo didn't expect there would be crocodiles in the water... ones dozens of meters long. He could no longer see those elegant unicorns he once thought were charming; they had completely shattered his fantasy about walking by marshes with giant crocodiles—what a creature... truly a beast!
Despite some minor interruptions... Qian Mo found that it was indeed true that two areas were distinctly separated by this "line." Even birds flying in the sky would immediately turn back as if nothing had happened when approaching this "line," continuing to wander within their pre-defined territory.
"It really feels like... birds in a cage."
