This was deliberately shown to me by Wen Ling.
I liked it, took a screenshot, and then posted it on my Moments.
"Thank you, husband, for the Cartier Gradient Pearl Necklace. I really like it."
The accompanying photo was of me wearing the pearl necklace.
After posting on Moments, I sent another text.
"In ancient times, there were seven reasons for divorce: no children, disobedience to parents, promiscuity, jealousy, serious illness, excessive talkativeness, and theft."
"I wonder which one Wen Ling belongs to?"
"Such a pity, a good girl who willingly degrades herself to be a concubine."
Imagining Zhen Zhuo's feelings upon seeing this post made me laugh out loud.
Yet tears slowly rolled down my cheeks.
On New Year's Eve, Zhen Zhuo booked the most expensive restaurant, bought bright red roses, and ordered a table full of my favorite dishes.
Under the romantic candlelight, his smiling and affectionate gaze made me feel as if I had returned to the time when we were in love.
After dinner, we walked hand in hand among the couples at Universal Studios.
He even bought me a bunny ear headband.
Kissing my eyes, he said, "Yu Zhu, you are my heart's moon."
My heart felt like a damp sponge, constantly absorbing moisture and becoming heavy.
My waist ached unbearably, but I tried to hold on.
This hard-earned happiness felt like an oasis in the desert, uncertain of when it might disappear.
I wanted to try sitting on a roller coaster and watch a fireworks show.
To put an end to love without regrets.
My smile froze on my face.
Zhen Zhuo received a call from Wen Ling.
"Azhong, Mom is feeling uncomfortable in her chest and can no longer speak. How can I take care of her alone?"
"If something happens to her, I don't want to live anymore..."
Wen Ling cried like a rain-soaked pear blossom, and Zhen Zhuo's face suddenly changed color.
He abruptly grabbed my hand and said, "Let's go."
But I was in so much pain that my legs gave way, and I fell to the ground in a mess.
Not only did he not care about me, but he also shouted at me, "Yu Yuzhu, do you really have to be this cold-blooded?"
"I haven't even settled the score with you about Lingling almost having a miscarriage."
"If anything happens to my mom, I will never forgive you for the rest of my life."
My heart felt as if it had been cut in half by a thin string, bleeding profusely.
"What do you mean?"
"Zhen Zhuo, you begged me to forgive you, and now you're treating me like this?"
"You said you wouldn't lie to me again."
I looked at him, my eyes stinging, but I held back the tears.
He irritably tugged at his hair and said, " Yu Zhu, I'm begging you, can you not make a scene right now?"
"My mom really isn't feeling well; her heart isn't good."
"Wen Ling said she might not make it."
"After all, she's my mom. Even if she has wronged you, she gave birth to me and raised me; I can't just ignore her."
Heh.
It turns out that everything he said before was just to placate me.
His change was only because his mom and Wen Ling had temporarily calmed down.
It wasn't true repentance.
"What if I insist on you staying?" My voice was hoarse.
Zhen Zhuo looked at me in shock, as if he didn't recognize me.
After a moment, he calmed down.
" Yu Zhu, don't make me hate you."
He threw down this line and left decisively.
I stared blankly at his back, my vision blurring.
The whole world seemed so far away from me.
A voice in my heart was screaming wildly—
Run up to him, hold him, beg him to stay.
But my body wouldn't obey.
A sharp pain spread from my lower back, causing me to tremble all over.
I struggled to get up but failed.
Voices of passersby reached my ears.
"Miss, are you okay?"
"Why do you look so unwell?"
"Oh no, she seems to have stopped breathing."
"Quick, call 120."
"Don't move her; it could injure her spine. Hurry and call an ambulance."
"Come on, let's perform CPR on the patient."
The voices around me went from piercing to fading away.
I completely lost consciousness.
