Thinking of Lin Xiao's dreams, I chose to give up. At six years old, I was unable to save her. This is what caused Lin Xiao to suffer for all these years. I hope her future life is filled with sweetness. The runes can be obtained later; if harm is done, it will be irreversible. Human lives are at stake, so I must be cautious. Lin Xiao did not blame me; having grown up in dire circumstances, she no longer holds any expectations. 0

Tears welled up in my eyes; I am not a person who cries easily, but I couldn't help it. "I'm leaving first." I turned and left without hesitation. After returning home, I fell into a deep sleep, and the next morning, I surprisingly felt the Dream Layer calling to me. This was the first time I had such a feeling. After hastily eating breakfast, I entered the Dream Layer. 0

What I didn't know was that I was being watched. Not by just anyone; he was one of the most powerful forces in the Dream Layer. And I, a novice just starting out, had unknowingly gotten myself into trouble with him. While exploring the Dream Layer, I encountered my good friend Zhou Shu, who was also being pursued by men in black. 0

In the same predicament, without thinking, I pulled him to hide, just like Lin Xiao had saved me before. The men in black used the power of dreams to create obstacles, forcing us to reveal ourselves. To avoid implicating the innocent, we had no choice but to stand out. The outcome was predictable; they had long been prepared. 0

We were outnumbered and suffered a crushing defeat. The Dream Layer was fraught with danger; not only were there illusions but also nightmares. We struggled to survive through one crisis after another but could never shake off their pursuit—this situation was unlike anything we had faced before. I began to doubt my judgment. Could I really find a way to cure Lin Xiao? The opponent was proving to be incredibly difficult. 0

"Watch out!" Zhou Shu suddenly shouted and pushed me away forcefully. I turned back to see a sharp sword grazing Zhou Shu's arm, leaving a deep wound behind. 0

“Zhou Shu!” I exclaimed, quickly supporting him. 0
Zhou Shu’s face was pale, cold sweat dripping down, but he still managed to force a smile at me: “It’s nothing, just a small injury.” 0
I felt a surge of guilt; if it weren't for my distraction, Zhou Shu wouldn't have been hurt. 0
I began to doubt whether I truly had the ability to protect those around me, whether I could help them escape from their predicaments. 0
The other party seemed relentless in their pursuit; no matter where we fled, we couldn't shake them off. 0
My stamina was gradually depleting, and Zhou Shu was becoming weaker due to his injuries. 0
“Li Jin, don’t worry about me, just escape on your own,” Zhou Shu gasped. 0
“Impossible!” I immediately rejected his suggestion. 0
I tried to calm myself down and think of a strategy. 0
But they clearly weren’t giving us a moment to breathe; their attacks grew fiercer, as if they wouldn’t rest until they captured us. 0

Just when I thought we were doomed this time, I suddenly received help from a mysterious power. 0

I didn’t know whether this power was friend or foe, but it allowed us to escape. 0
With Zhou Shu injured, I took him home to recuperate. Having fought together and saved each other, I regarded him as a brother. 0
He rested at my home while I began trying various methods, repeatedly entering dreams in hopes of finding a way to save Lin Xiao. 0

Strangely enough, no matter how hard I tried, every time I reached a critical moment, an invisible force would push me out. 0

Did I realize that I had been marked? 0

Someone was obstructing me from saving Lin Xiao. 0

I thought of the strange runes in Lin Xiao’s dream. 0

When I had tried many methods without any clues, Zhou Shu saw the materials I was studying and said: “This thing looks like that Big Bun in the northeast corner.” 0

“Big Bun?” 0

“It’s the stadium that looks like a bun.” 0

I decided to go take a look. 0

To my surprise, I discovered that the dark corners of the stadium were actually a branch of the organization of men in black. 0

I went to the warehouse, where I found “Phantom Bone.” 0

However, it seemed that the men in black had sensed my actions. 0

They began casting spells in the Dream Layer to create chaos, trying to stop me from treating Lin Xiao. 0

That mysterious helper appeared again, and someone pointed me in the right direction. 0
I found a way to break their scheme and crushed the men in black's plot. 0

When I was treating Lin Xiao, I discovered there was an issue with the magical artifact. 0

If I continued to provide aid, I might lose my abilities. 0

If I stopped the treatment now, I would be fine, but Lin Xiao would never have a chance to recover. 0

Thus, he would remain in darkness for a lifetime. 0
After completing the first stage of treatment, I returned home. 0

“Li Jin, why aren’t you speaking?” Zhou Shu asked in confusion. 0

I had been lost in thought until his question brought me back to reality. 0

"Nothing, just a bit worried about Lin Xiao," I expressed my true feelings. 0

Zhou Shu glanced at me and suddenly smiled, "There's no need to worry; she's a strong girl." 0

"How do you know?" I was surprised by Zhou Shu's reaction. 0

"Intuition." Zhou Shu didn't even know Lin Xiao, so how could he be so sure? 0

He stood up and walked to the window, looking out at the night sky. He slowly said, "Li Jin, do you know? I've always envied you." 0

"Envied me? Why?" I was a bit confused. 0

"Because you have the courage and strength that I lack." Zhou Shu turned to look at me, his gaze deep. 0

I was silent for a moment before smiling and saying, "You have it too." 0

Zhou Shu paused for a moment, then laughed, "I'll weigh the pros and cons first." 0

After he left, I fell back into contemplation. 0
