"Follow me," he said.
I followed Old Wang as we went to a cave on the back mountain of the school.
"This is it," he said, stepping inside first.
I followed him into the cave.
The cave was small, filled with various clutter.
But what caught my attention were the strange symbols painted on the wall.
They were identical to the symbols on the note.
"What is this..."
"Time Displacement," Old Wang said.
"How did these things end up here?"
"I don't know."
I approached the wall and examined the symbols closely.
They seemed to have a kind of magic, drawing me in deeply.
"The thing you're looking for is inside," Old Wang suddenly said.
"Huh?" I turned my head.
Old Wang pointed deeper into the cave.
"Go take a look," he said.
I hesitated for a moment and then walked deeper into the cave.
It was pitch black inside.
I turned on my flashlight, illuminating the path ahead.
After about ten minutes of walking, a light appeared in front of me.
As I stepped out of the cave, my surroundings opened up dramatically.
It was a vast space.
The ground was filled with various instruments.
And right in the center was a peculiar machine, covered in buttons and indicator lights.
"This is..."
"Time Displacement," Old Wang's voice echoed from the entrance.
I turned around and saw him standing at the cave's mouth.
"This is all its doing."
"Did it cause the Time Displacement?"
"Yes."
I looked at the machine before me and couldn't help but furrow my brow.
"What exactly is this thing?"
"I don't know," Old Wang shook his head, "but we must destroy it."
"Destroy it?"
"Yes."
I walked up to the machine and began to figure out how to break it.
Time passed slowly.
Half an hour later, I heard a "click."
The machine stopped operating.
"Success!" I exclaimed.
Just then, I heard a loud noise.
I turned my head and saw Old Wang standing at the entrance, holding a remote control.
"You..."
Before I could react, a blinding light suddenly illuminated the area.
I instinctively closed my eyes.
When I opened them again, I found myself at the school gate.
I'm back?
I looked around and saw the familiar streets and buildings.
I returned to the normal Timeline!
Excited, I ran toward the school.
As soon as I entered the gate, I saw Lin Yutong.
"You’re back!" She looked surprised to see me.
"Yeah!" I nodded and told her what had happened.
After hearing everything, Lin Yutong fell silent.
"Things might be more complicated than we imagined," she said.
