I stood on my tiptoes and fed him, asking with a smile, "Is it good?" Shen Yulin's Adam's apple bobbed as he swallowed the entire dumpling without fully processing it, not even having time to taste it.
I stuffed the whole box of dumplings into his arms, took his basketball, bent down, and dribbled it with a "thump thump thump," then hugged the ball to my chest and threw it with all my might, but missed.
Shen Yulin laughed, holding his stomach, "With that posture, anyone who doesn't know would think you're trying to fly to the moon like Chang'e." I threw the ball hard at Shen Yulin and complained, "Can't you be a little nicer to me?"
Shen Yulin reached out to catch the ball, spinning it on his fingertips while looking at my pouting face. "Are you angry?" I crossed my arms and ignored him, my lips pouting so much they could hold a soy sauce bottle.
"Alright then," Shen Yulin said as he shoved the ball back into my arms and lifted me by the waist. I found myself sitting on his shoulder, and he supported my knees with one hand. "Be good, just shoot."
I gently tossed the ball, and it went in.
"Are you happy now?"
I nodded.
"That's good. Now eat your dumplings before they get cold." He gently set me down, adjusted my slightly wrinkled shirt, and handed me the dumplings.
Just as I took a bite of the dumpling, I saw him running towards me after the ball. Then jokingly, he knelt on one knee and held the ball up to me. "Star, do you think this counts as a proposal?"
Hearing this made my head spin; my face involuntarily flushed hot, and I forgot to chew the dumpling in my mouth. Embarrassed and angry, I shouted at him, "You're dreaming! I'm not marrying you." With that, I turned and hurried back to the classroom.
During the May Day holiday, Zhang Yun, Shen Yulin, Cheng Haifeng, and I decided to go out and relax a bit to escape from our studies and enjoy our rare free time. We planned to visit nearby villages or natural scenic areas to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and experience the freshness and tranquility of nature.
On the morning of May Day, we packed our bags and set off for our destination. The car drove along picturesque country roads where we occasionally stopped to admire the scenery and take beautiful photos as mementos.
Upon arriving at our destination, we first explored a local street filled with specialty snacks and tasted various delicacies. Then we decided to hike in the nearby mountains to immerse ourselves in nature.
The mountain scenery was magnificent and serene, resembling a stunning painting by nature. We walked along rugged mountain paths, sometimes passing through lush forests and sometimes climbing higher for a better view while feeling the refreshing mountain breeze against our faces.
In the forest, towering trees were lush and vibrant; sunlight filtered through the leaves' gaps casting dappled shadows on us that felt warm. Occasionally, a lively little squirrel would leap out from the woods, adding a touch of vitality and energy.
From high above, we gazed at distant landscapes; layers of mountains appeared faintly shrouded in mist like an ink wash painting. In the valley below flowed a crystal-clear stream that wound its way through rocks; its gentle babbling accompanied our footsteps as if narrating nature's wonders and mysteries.
Atop the mountain, we looked out over the scenery: rolling hills stretched before us while vast green fields lay in the distance—a spectacular sight. Sitting at the summit, we savored the majestic natural beauty while discussing our dreams and future plans amidst this rare tranquility and warmth.
Shen Yulin pulled me over to stand by a beautiful railing. He took out his camera, adjusted the angle carefully, and gently pressed the shutter. In the sunlight's glow, our figures were clearly captured in the frame against a backdrop of undulating mountains and blue skies with white clouds—creating a beautiful landscape painting.
