As the elevator doors opened, I stepped out, and Shen Yulin followed closely behind me, walking briskly down the corridor. When I reached the door of my father's hospital room, I happened to encounter the doctor coming out. I rushed up to him, tightly grabbing his arm, and asked with a trembling voice, "Doctor, how is my dad doing now? Is his condition serious?" My eyes were filled with worry and fear, dreading to hear bad news from the doctor. 0

The doctor gently removed his mask and revealed a reassuring smile. "The patient is no longer in critical condition; he needs some time to rest in order to fully recover." He paused for a moment before continuing, "During this time, please ensure that the room remains quiet to avoid disturbing the patient's rest. Also, pay special attention to his diet; it should be light and easy to digest. You can include more protein and vitamin-rich foods to help his body recover quickly. Additionally, if you notice any unusual symptoms in the patient, please inform the medical staff promptly." 0

After hearing the doctor's advice, I let out a sigh of relief, but tears couldn't help but flow down my cheeks. Shen Yulin walked over to me and gently embraced me, comforting me by saying, "It's okay, don't cry." 0

Once the doctor left, Shen Yulin and I stepped into the eerily quiet hospital room. My aunt and Uncle were solemnly standing by the bedside, their expressions revealing endless worry. My father was lying quietly on the bed, his face as pale as paper, eyes tightly closed as if he had lost all vitality. I slowly walked over and sat down beside him, my trembling hand gently holding his slightly cold palm as I silently prayed in my heart, hoping to convey a bit of warmth and strength to him. 0

Meanwhile, Shen Yulin stood quietly beside me, his gaze fixed on my father, his eyes filled with deep concern. Time passed slowly in that suffocating atmosphere of tension that enveloped the entire room. Every so often, my father would emit a faint groan that was almost inaudible. Each time this happened, my heart felt like it was being torn apart; I could only do my best to hold back my tears and softly say to him, "Dad, don't be afraid; we're all here with you. You must hang in there!" At the same time, I gave him a supportive look filled with determination and love. 0

Shen Yulin was also attentive; he would occasionally bring a cup of warm water to my father or carefully adjust his pillow height to make him more comfortable. Although he remained silent throughout, his actions spoke volumes about the genuine care he felt deep inside. 0

" Xiao Fan, you two stay here; I'm going back to get some soup. The doctor said he can eat after 24 hours," my aunt said. I nodded in agreement. My aunt and Uncle got up to leave first. I turned to look at Shen Yulin; he nodded slightly at me as if to reassure me. I gazed at my father's face and reflected on our past together; he had always been healthy until now when he lay here like this—it filled me with emotion. 0

At that moment, Shen Yulin softly said, "Uncle will be fine; I'll go buy something. You must be hungry too." I nodded in response as our eyes met, tears of gratitude shimmering in them. In this difficult time, his presence brought me immense warmth. Time quietly passed as night fell; the lights in the room appeared particularly soft. I leaned back in my chair and unknowingly fell asleep. When I woke up, I found myself covered with Shen Yulin's jacket while he sat on the nearby sofa quietly reading a book. At that moment, an indescribable feeling surged within me. 0

"You're awake?" he said softly. 0

"How is Dad? Has he woken up?" I sat up straight and looked at my father who was still asleep. 0

"You fell asleep; Uncle woke up for a bit earlier. I fed him some congee that Sister-in-law made for him; now he's asleep again." 0

I got up and moved to sit next to him on the sofa. "I bought some congee for you; you should eat some too so you don’t wear yourself out while taking care of Uncle." 0

"And what about you? Have you eaten?" 0

"I'll eat with you?" 0

I agreed and opened the food container to find two bowls of century egg and lean pork congee. We silently ate together without saying a word. After finishing our meal, I looked again at my father; his complexion seemed a bit better. 0

"Thank you, Brother Yulin." 0
