"Let's go home first. I've already called your brother, and he said the family doctor will come over soon to check your condition. You can't take this lightly!" Shen Yulin said, focused on driving while turning his head to speak to me. Reflecting on what had just happened, I was genuinely frightened. Now, sitting in this soft and comfortable car seat, I felt a bit more at ease, but I could still clearly sense a dull pain in my stomach. Perhaps it was due to the tension and discomfort; before long, I felt unusually tired, as if my heavy eyelids were weighed down by a thousand-pound burden, making it impossible to keep them open. In no time, I fell into a deep sleep.
When I woke up again, my head felt extremely heavy, as if it had been struck. I struggled to open my eyes and found myself lying on a soft bed. The room was filled with a faint smell of disinfectant that made me feel somewhat uncomfortable. I tried to move but noticed a pain in my left hand. Looking down, I realized I was hooked up to an IV drip.
I lifted my head and gazed out the window. A bright moon hung high in the sky, casting a cool light. The moonlight filtered through the window, illuminating a corner of the room. "You're awake?" Shen Yulin stood up from the sofa and slowly walked towards me. Concern flickered in his eyes as he softly asked, "Do you still feel unwell?"
I stared at him blankly, my mind feeling like a muddled mess. I shook my head vigorously, trying to clear my chaotic thoughts. "What happened to me?" After a while, I finally found my voice, though it came out hoarse.
Shen Yulin frowned, worry and guilt evident in his gaze. "Dr. Zhang said you were scared and need to rest for a while. It's best not to get out of bed for these few days. It's all my fault; I shouldn't have taken you to crowded places..."
I mustered some energy and said, "Don't blame yourself too much; I'm fine now, right? No one could have predicted this would happen."
Seeing his remorseful expression made my heart ache, and I softly asked, "Will you stay with me for a while?" He seemed surprised but quickly reacted. He took off his clothes, gently lifted the blanket, and pulled me into his embrace.
As my body touched his warm skin, a wave of warmth spread throughout me, causing my cheeks to flush involuntarily. The tenderness and affection in his eyes drew me deeper into his embrace. He suddenly leaned down and softly kissed my lips. I could feel his breath becoming more rapid, but the kiss didn't last long.
"Sweetheart, sleep now. I'll stay with you."
After hearing the doctor's advice, I became like a well-behaved child, lying still in bed for ten whole days! During this time, it felt like my limbs were turning into fossils; I seemed to have completely lost the ability to move. Every time I needed to go to the bathroom, Shen Yulin would carry me there; he wouldn't even let me touch the floor.
Sometimes I couldn't help but pout and tell him I wanted to go downstairs for a walk. However, no matter how much I pleaded, he would refuse without hesitation. To make matters worse, my aunt, Uncle, and even my dad stood by his side to prevent me from getting out of bed. They were all in cahoots! I really didn't understand what they were thinking... Did they expect me to just lie here forever? I was about to suffocate from boredom!
