Faced with the reprimand from Staff, Anna bit her lip but did not retort. She knew her earlier attitude was somewhat inappropriate, yet she felt wronged. After all, no one at home had ever dared to lecture her like that. However, Staff was her brother and one of the people she respected the most, so even though she felt indignant, she could only endure in silence.
Seeing that I was safe and sound, Shen Yulin drove us swiftly toward the hotel. Staff and Anna completed the check-in process smoothly and agreed to have dinner together later that evening before returning to their room to rest. Shen Yulin focused intently on driving but remained silent. I gazed out at the road ahead, a hint of confusion rising in my mind, so I turned to him and asked, "Where are we going?" Without hesitation, he replied, "To the hospital! You definitely weren't feeling well just now; for safety's sake, it's better to get checked out at the hospital first."
I didn't argue, thinking that going to the hospital would indeed put my mind at ease. The car continued on smoothly and soon arrived at the hospital entrance.
After parking the car, Shen Yulin quickly got out and opened the door for me, then held my hand tightly as we walked into the hospital lobby. He guided me to the registration desk to complete the paperwork. When it was my turn to see the doctor, Shen Yulin accompanied me into the examination room and described my situation in detail to the doctor. After a thorough examination, the doctor smiled and said to us, "Don't worry too much; you're almost six months along now, and the fetal condition is stable. As long as there are no major emotional ups and downs, everything should be fine. If you're really worried, just take it easy and rest in bed for a couple of days." Hearing this result, we both breathed a sigh of relief.
That evening, Mr. Staff invited Shen Yulin and me to dine at the largest hotel in City Z. I stood in front of my wardrobe for a long time, hesitating over what to wear for the occasion. Just as I was struggling with my decision, Shen Yulin walked in through the door wearing a tailored black suit that complemented his demeanor perfectly. The collar of his shirt was crisp, and his tie matched his suit beautifully, showcasing his taste in details. The fabric of his suit had a high-quality texture that shimmered subtly with his movements.
In that suit, he looked like an elegant gentleman radiating a mature and composed charm. He held a garment bag in one hand, a gentle smile playing on his lips filled with affection and anticipation as he softly said to me, "Baby, I've prepared a dress for you; why don't you try it on?"
I looked at him in surprise and carefully took the bag from him before unzipping it. In that moment, a stunningly beautiful white evening gown appeared before my eyes. The dress was exquisitely tailored; it cleverly accentuated a pregnant woman's rounded belly while maintaining elegance and grace. The hem flowed like light clouds, gently swaying with each step as if dancing to a wonderful melody. The neckline was intricately designed with delicate lace trim that added a touch of romance to the overall look.
"Wow, it's so beautiful!" I exclaimed involuntarily, my voice filled with admiration. However, when I came back to my senses, I couldn't help but feel a blush creeping onto my face. "Baby, let me help you change into it," Shen Yulin said with a teasing smile as he reached out to pull off my clothes. I hurriedly pushed him away shyly and playfully said, "You go outside; I can change by myself."
