After leaving the gym, Yan Jien planned to go home, but Tong Liya didn't want to return so soon. She wanted to take a walk in the park across the street, but Yan Jien was afraid that being alone with her would make it hard for him to control himself, especially since she was currently in her ovulation period, and her scent was incredibly alluring to him.
However, Tong Liya insisted on having him accompany her, and he couldn't refuse. Reluctantly, he suggested they sit at a nearby bubble tea shop for a while.
The two arrived at the bubble tea shop and ordered a cup of milk tea. To avoid physical contact, Yan Jien tried to make conversation: "Liya, how's work been lately?"
"Not bad. I just closed a deal yesterday. The client is quite satisfied with our company, but they think our quote is a bit high and want to compare it with others," Tong Liya replied.
"Have you thought about continuing to work at our company?" Yan Jien asked.
"I haven't decided yet, but I should probably stay!" Tong Liya said.
"That's good to hear," Yan Jien nodded.
"By the way, why did you go to Power Fitness Club today?" Tong Liya asked curiously.
"I met with a few clients in the afternoon and happened to pass by there, so I decided to get a gym membership," Yan Jien explained.
"Do you go to the gym often?" Tong Liya inquired.
"Yeah, I go every now and then," Yan Jien replied.
"I really enjoy working out too. We can go together sometime!" Tong Liya suggested.
"Sounds good!" Yan Jien nodded.
"Oh, I just saw a movie at the cinema that’s supposed to be really good. Since it's still early, why don't we go watch it together?" Tong Liya invited.
"Um..." Yan Jien initially wanted to refuse, but the words caught in his throat. "Alright!"
"Then let's go!" Tong Liya exclaimed happily.
"Okay," Yan Jien nodded and left the bubble tea shop with Tong Liya, heading toward the cinema.
They watched a romantic film that told the story of a boy and a girl who met, fell in love, and eventually got married and had children. Although the plot was somewhat cliché, they were both engrossed in it.
After the movie, Yan Jien walked Tong Liya home; it was already ten o'clock at night.
"You can go home now! I can go upstairs by myself," Tong Liya said.
"Alright, just be careful," Yan Jien reminded her.
"Yeah, you be careful on your way too," Tong Liya replied.
"Then I'm off," Yan Jien said.
"Mm." Tong Liya nodded.
Yan Jien turned to leave, and as she watched Yan Jien's gradually receding figure, a sweet smile appeared on Tong Liya's face.
"Why are you still standing there? Can't bear to part with him?" A voice came from behind.
"Mom, what are you doing? You scared me." Tong Liya was startled.
"You're the one who was lost in thought!" Tong Qingqing laughed.
"I wasn't!" Tong Liya denied.
"I just saw you come back with Xiao Yan. Why did you come back so late?" Tong Qingqing asked.
"I went to look at building materials with a client in the afternoon, and I ran into him after that," Tong Liya explained.
"Did you two go watch a movie together?" Tong Qingqing asked.
"Mm." Tong Liya nodded.
"Didn't I tell you? Don't get too close to him," Tong Qingqing reminded her.
"Why not?" Tong Liya was confused.
"Don't be fooled by his good looks; he's actually quite a flirt," Tong Qingqing said.
"Mom, what are you talking about? Master is not that kind of person," Tong Liya retorted.
"How do you know he isn't?" Tong Qingqing asked.
"I know him well; he..." Tong Liya wanted to explain but thought better of it and held back, "Anyway, Master is not that kind of person."
"Don't you like him?" Tong Qingqing asked.
"I..." Tong Liya wanted to deny it, but the words caught in her throat, "I do like him, so what?"
"If you like him, then you should keep your distance," Tong Qingqing said.
"I... I don't want to keep my distance from him," Tong Liya replied.
"You... this girl, why don't you listen?" Tong Qingqing was angry.
"Mom, I know you're looking out for me, but I've grown up; I can make my own judgments and know what I want," Tong Liya said.
