Yan Jien stood at the door of Room 2802 across the hall, sniffing at the doorway. "Sure enough, it's Yan Weila's scent. She's really inside. I wonder if she bought or rented this place?" Yan Jien felt a bit pleased. It was quite a coincidence that someone familiar lived right across from him! "Since she lives across the hall, there will be plenty of opportunities to run into her!" Yan Jien had no intention of knocking on the door to greet Yan Weila.
He returned to his new home and closed the front door. Then, he went up to the second floor through the living room balcony. The small room on the second floor had already been cleared out by Miss Hu, with walls painted in a milky tea-colored artistic paint, wooden-patterned tiles on the floor, and a plain white ceiling.
"This space can fit a shelf for raising rabbits for experiments!" Yan Jien contemplated. He took out his phone and contacted a friend who made shelves, explaining his needs. Soon, he received a message from his friend saying that the shelf was ready and could be delivered the next day. "Great!" Yan Jien smiled.
The next morning, Yan Jien went downstairs to receive the delivery, instructing the workers to install the shelf and cages against the southern wall of the room on the second floor. There were four rows in total, with each row capable of holding six rabbits. Next to it was a small shelf specifically for rabbit food and an operation table for experiments.
"This will do!" Yan Jien was satisfied. To manage his uncontrollable urges and conduct experiments, he bought a car and also purchased four little white rabbits and two male rabbits. Then he drove back to the basement to avoid being seen.
Once upstairs again, he prepared to start his experiment. He intended to test the effects of a mixed liquid secreted from his claws (a mixture of a transparent part and a light red part). "The transparent part should cause poisoning or infection, while the light red part is likely related to marking territory. However, whether they interact with each other is still unknown!"
Thinking this, Yan Jien entered his attic laboratory and transformed into his experimental state, dripping several drops of the mixed liquid into a container. "It really has mixed!" Watching as the transparent S Liquid and Light Red R Liquid blended together in the bottle, Yan Jien's expression turned serious. "Now, let's conduct an experiment using this mixed liquid!"
He thought as he picked up three little white rabbits. He marked one with a red dot on one ear, labeling it as number 1; another received two red dots, labeled as number 2; and the third got three red dots, labeled as number 3.
Then, he injected a drop of transparent S Liquid into Rabbit 1, a drop of Light Red R Liquid into Rabbit 2, and a drop of the mixed solution into Rabbit 3.
"Now, all three rabbits have been marked, and they will all excrete in the same place, allowing us to compare the effects of the different liquids!" Yan Jien said as he set the rabbits down and waited quietly.
Time passed, and after an hour, Rabbit 1 began to show some reactions, while the other two rabbits showed no significant changes.
"Rabbit 1 was injected with the transparent S Liquid; could it be that the effect of the transparent part is unrelated to the R Liquid?" Yan Jien frowned.
"Let's wait a bit longer!"
After another half hour, the reactions of Rabbit 1 and Rabbit 2 became more pronounced, while Rabbit 3 showed little response.
"It seems that the effect of the mixed solution is not as strong as that of the individual components!" Yan Jien realized.
He took out his phone and glanced at the time.
"It's time to go mark my territory!"
Thinking this, Yan Jien went to the basement, set up surveillance, and then left the community.
He first arrived at West Lake Park, following the route he had previously established. He used his claws to dig into the soil, creating a hole where he injected a drop of Light Red R Liquid before covering it back up with dirt.
As he walked along, he marked his territory, spending two hours marking all of West Lake Park.
"Ha..."
Exhaling a breath of stale air, Yan Jien found a spot to eat before returning to his community.
He first went to apartment 1802 and knocked on the door. After waiting for a while with no response, he frowned slightly.
"Not home!" Yan Jien thought before heading back to apartment 2802.
He opened the door and entered the laboratory, turning on the surveillance video.
"Hmm?" Yan Jien was surprised.
In the video, Rabbit 3 had actually begun to show reactions.
"It seems that the effect of the mixed solution is slower!" Yan Jien realized.
After watching for a while longer, he turned off the video and went into his bedroom to rest.
In a daze, his phone rang.
"Who is it?" Yan Jien squinted and opened his phone.
"A strange number?" Yan Jien wondered as he answered the call.
"Hello?" Yan Jien spoke.
"Hi, is this Yan Jien, Mr. Yan?" A woman's voice came from the other end.
"This is Yan Jien. Who are you?" Yan Jien asked, puzzled.
"I'm Tong Liya's mother!" the woman replied.
"Tong Liya's mother?" Yan Jien was shocked. "Auntie, what do you need from me?"
"I want to meet you!" Tong Qingqing said.
"Now?" Yan Jien was taken aback.
"Yes, now!" Tong Qingqing affirmed.
"Auntie, it's already midnight. How about tomorrow instead?" Yan Jien suggested.
"No, it has to be now!" Tong Qingqing insisted.
"Auntie, what exactly is going on?" Yan Jien frowned.
"Mr. Yan, I can only tell you that this matter is related to Liya!" Tong Qingqing said in a serious tone.
"Related to Liya?" Yan Jien was surprised. "Then... where shall we meet?"
"At the apartment that Liya rented!" Tong Qingqing answered.
"Okay!" Yan Jien nodded. "I'll head over now!"
