"Beautiful girl, are you still chasing?"
Seeing President Gu's car making its way through the bustling streets, turning down twenty different blocks, the erratic speed and the kind of alertness akin to a fugitive evading capture made the driver impatient.
"Chase! Hurry, look, it turned! Keep following!"
Lan Hui's eyes were fixed on the target vehicle ahead, her small hands waving as if she were a general charging into battle.
The more it seemed like a game of cat and mouse to shake off her pursuit, the more it indicated something was wrong.
She would bet that something was bound to happen tonight.
After a long while, President Gu's car stopped in front of a private villa area and drove straight in.
"No entry without a pass," the security guard at the entrance said with a stern face, explaining impatiently to Lan Hui.
"I am President Gu's fiancée." In her desperation, she had to make up a story and put on a pitiful expression, as if not letting her in would make the guard the culprit behind her unhappy marriage.
Once she got through the gate, she was dumbfounded.
With identical buildings all around, where could she find that pair of scoundrels?
Time passed second by second, each moment felt like it was carving into her flesh.
Recalling everything that had happened since she met Gu Yi, thinking about that confession she had yet to receive, and realizing that the cooked duck was about to spread its wings and fly away, tears welled up in her eyes like a pump filling with water.
"Gu Yi, you heartless bastard. You started this and abandoned me. We are engaged, yet you're fooling around with other women."
Her voice was unprecedentedly loud. There were only ten households in this villa area, and she couldn't believe Gu Yi couldn't hear her.
"Miss, you can't shout like this here." A few security guards, well-trained, rushed over to stop her.
What else could she do besides shouting? She couldn't just call Gu Yi and ask, "Hey, where are you messing around?"
Several households had already drawn their curtains and curiously poked their heads out.
"Gu Yi, you big jerk! I'm pregnant, and you're still fooling around. If you don't come out now, do you believe I'll go get an abortion right now?"
Lan Hui was already crying, her nose running and tears streaming down her face, looking pitiful enough that the security guards felt reluctant to chase her away.
Her phone rang.
"Fool, I'm in number 5. Come in!"
This trick still worked; he finally agreed to show himself.
Once inside the house, she turned the entire villa upside down, not even sparing the bed or the wardrobe, but found no trace of him.
"He left early; stop looking." He cornered her against the door, a smug look in his eyes as if he had successfully plotted something.
Was she being schemed against again? Just as her mind was racing, his face was already close to hers...
"What... what are you going to do?"
"You said you were already pregnant with my child, right? Tomorrow you have to meet my mother-in-law, and she doesn't like lying daughters-in-law. I guess I'll have to sacrifice myself and help you create one quickly; maybe there's still time."
He had taken shamelessness to the extreme.
"Wait, I still have things to ask you!" She dodged his descending lips.
"You might as well wait and watch the side story with the readers!"
He picked her up around the waist and headed toward the large bed.
Side Story
Time rewound twenty minutes earlier, in Gu Yi's villa, where a similar scene had played out.
Gu Yi pushed away Qiao Qingyan, who was clinging to him.
"Qingyan, don't do this. We're done."
"Yi, didn't you say that I look the best in a dress? Look, I'm wearing your favorite purple dress."
"There's someone who looks even better than you in a dress."
"Yi, do you really like that girl?" Upon learning that Gu Yi's company was on the brink of collapse, she felt that her chance to reconcile with him had come.
With her worth, investing fifty million into his company would easily bring it back to life.
"Yeah!" A deep smile spread across her face as she immersed herself in memories.
"Alright! Give me a reason."
"She's the first girl who complimented me on my looks."
"Huh?" Qiao Qingyan stumbled and nearly fell.
