Ming Juan had been hiding behind an abandoned vehicle, her palm pressed against the license plate. Finally, when she heard the sound of the bus starting and moving away, she managed to support herself with her aching legs.
She didn't know why she made this choice; perhaps it was simply to satisfy her own expectations. Ming Juan peeked out from behind the back of the bus, watching as it turned the corner before turning away and running toward the distant explosion of light.
"Since childhood, I have felt inferior because of the third eye on my forehead, setting myself apart as an outsider."
After running four or five kilometers, Ming Juan continued to push her sore legs toward the brilliance she once knew.
"The decline of my family, the loss of loved ones, your departure—each has made me wish for death."
Unconsciously, Ming Juan's right hand grasped the emerald green amber hanging around her neck, and the jingling sound abruptly stopped.
"But do you know? Ever since you entered my black-and-white world, everything has turned into a rainbow of colors."
Snowflakes playfully fell into Ming Juan's eyes, and she instinctively blinked, squeezing out a tear.
"I cry easily, but there is always a man willing to dry my tears; my home cannot give you happiness, but there is always a man who says he doesn't mind."
Through the windows of abandoned vehicles along the road, Ming Juan's figure flashed by as she ran.
"I am willing to love you deeply and wait for you to place a wedding ring on my finger..."
The flashing light grew closer and more dazzling.
"Now, the third eye tells me in despair that you have returned."
"Even if this time the world is destined to collapse, I, Ming Juan, will definitely embrace you."
After jogging a few steps, Ming Juan stopped and looked up at the figure in Black Lightning.
The shockwave generated by the collision of two lights blew against the frayed edges of Ming Juan's torn jeans.
"Miao..."
"Is that you?"
Zombie King caught sight of a figure with his keen peripheral vision and looked down at the ground surrounded by Black Lightning.
"Ah?!"
Miao Chengmin's claws retracted slowly, transforming back into a human hand.
"Juanzi!" Miao Chengmin nearly shouted.
Upon hearing this name, a rose blossomed on Ming Juan's face. It was Miao Chengmin; only he would give her such an unflattering nickname.
Three years of heart-wrenching pain and three years of sobbing—Ming Juan had always lived in despair but had never given up hope. You promised you would marry me, so I am willing to wait; after all, it was you who made that promise.
"Miao Miao!" Ming Juan called out but found herself hindered by her numb legs. She had only taken a few steps before nearly collapsing on the road. Leaning against a nearby car, she looked up at Miao Chengmin as he gradually faded from Black Lightning.
Seeing this, Miao Chengmin was about to flash in front of Ming Juan when a shockwave shot through his chest from behind!
"Ah!" Ming Juan watched as Miao Chengmin let out a muffled groan and fell onto the road.
"No!" Ming Juan fell to the ground but quickly got back up, almost rolling and stumbling as she rushed toward Miao Chengmin lying on the ground.
Ordinary people would not know that for Miao Chengmin, this was just a normal injury that would heal quickly. But for Ming Juan at that moment, her heart was bleeding.
"Hmm?" Zombie Queen looked at the ordinary human girl running toward Zombie King and felt that she was in the way. She reached out to aim at Ming Juan.
But Ming Juan could no longer care; she just wanted to embrace her beloved one more time before life ended... Nothing more was desired.
"Buzz—"
A Micro Death Line shot toward Zombie Queen's chaotic Force Field again, effortlessly slicing open another gap in it.
"Xiaotian!"
The LCD television hanging on the wall of the nearby residential building was sliced in half by the mechanical wings of Fierce Eagle. With a thunderous crash as bricks were shattered, Fierce Eagle burst out from the building, gripping the battle sword in reverse, and thrust it into the opening just created by Blue Face Hero!
This not only restricted Zombie Queen's physical strength but also significantly lowered her defensive capabilities due to the two openings in the Chaotic Field. Now, Zombie Queen's danger level had dropped by nearly two tiers.
"Ugh—" Zombie Queen roared as she turned around, her fury reaching its peak as she punched Fierce Eagle in the abdomen. In an instant, Fierce Eagle felt a tearing pain explode within him, and he was slammed to the ground by the force of her punch.
Zombie Queen had had enough of these Earthlings; being cut open at close range was a tremendous humiliation for her!
"You will die—"
A massive beam of light shot towards Fierce Eagle. Despite enduring immense pain, he still remembered to raise his armored Particle Shield to defend himself. However, the beam engulfed him completely.
"Ah!" Stabbing his battle sword into the ground proved useless; Fierce Eagle could only let himself be blown away by the wave of light, like a bug being sprayed with a high-pressure water jet, sending him farther and farther away.
Everything happened too quickly—so fast that Blue Face Hero couldn't intervene in time. He saw Zombie Queen's hand reaching out from the chaotic Force Field and decisively summoned his Laser Long Curved Blade, bringing it down in a swift strike.
"Sizzle!"
With her hand severed, Zombie Queen could no longer summon waves of light. She glared at Blue Face Hero, who quickly dodged away, as five Venomous Blades sprouted behind her.
"Xiaotian!"
Blue Face Hero hoped for reinforcements, but Fierce Eagle was completely immobilized, his armor sparking from overload. Only his battle sword remained stuck in the ground.
Fierce Eagle lay motionless.
The spotlight on his armor flickered until only the orange viewport on his helmet remained lit.
"Miao Chengmin!"
Blue Face Hero saw Zombie King cradled in a girl's arms; she was weeping uncontrollably while Zombie King's chest wound continued to heal. Worse still, he seemed lost in emotion.
"Alright." Blue Face Hero sheathed his Laser Long Curved Blade and clenched his fists clad in Tianchuang Gloves, staring at the menacing Zombie Queen. "Looks like we need to have another match."
"This time, let's see how long you can last!" Zombie Queen instantly teleported right in front of Blue Face Hero. Anticipating her move, he vanished just before her claws could grasp him.
Before Zombie Queen could react, Blue Face Hero had already shifted behind her, his Tianchuang Gloves charged with Cosmic Energy as he delivered a powerful punch…
"Boom!"
"Miao Chengmin... don't die... where have you been all these years? I..."
Ming Juan was sobbing uncontrollably, unaware that Miao Chengmin, her former fiancé now turned zombie, could no longer respond to her cries.
The explosions around them could not awaken Miao Chengmin; all he wanted was to hold Ming Juan and find a sacred place free from worries where they could laugh together under the sun.
Such days seemed beyond their reach now.
"Juanzi... stop crying. I won't die. These three years... I haven't died; I've just become something no one can see anymore... so... I'm sorry..." Miao Chengmin strained to weave this bizarre lie.
"No! I don't care!" Ming Juan wiped her tears away. "No matter what you become, I want you back! Why did you leave me?"
Those who have cried through long nights know that heartache can truly hurt.
Ming Juan clutched the emerald amber hanging around her neck while pressing her fist against her chest, gritting her teeth. Her disheveled hair fell over Miao Chengmin's healing chest as she fought to keep her eyes open. Her eyelids struggled against fatigue and sorrow as she fought to maintain a glimpse of her beloved through tear-stained eyes.
"It's alright... Miao Miao, I'm here with you now."
Miao Chengmin extended his frail arm and cradled Ming Juan's head. She nestled against his chest obediently, listening to the roar of Chaos Power within him.
"You bad guy... why..."
Why did you have to let me meet you again? Why make my already grieving heart ache once more?
It seemed impossible yet here you were again in an impossible way.
Memories flashed like scenes from a movie in their minds: Miao Chengmin being blown out from an explosion while wearing firefighting gear; their tender farewells before missions; laughter shared during travels across cities; Ming Juan crying tears of joy upon receiving a DIY gift made by Miao Chengmin for her birthday; their first dance together; and finally that moment on campus when Ming Juan stood before Miao Chengmin with a book in hand and said softly, "Hello, Senior."
Ming Juan cupped Miao Chengmin's face and slowly leaned in closer…
"Bang!"
A loud noise jolted Miao Chengmin awake. He looked up to see Blue Face Hero thrown to the ground by Zombie Queen, sliding across the road for quite some distance.
Ming Juan turned back towards them and suddenly began to suspect Miao Chengmin's current identity.
"Are you The Celestial Warriors?"
Ming Juan once again locked eyes with Miao Chengmin. However, Ming Juan noticed that there was a flame burning in Miao Chengmin's eyes.
Miao Chengmin was momentarily stunned; he hadn't actually considered this question: Was he The Celestial Warriors?
"Maybe," he said, then tightly embraced Ming Juan for a moment before releasing her and standing up.
"You don't want to..."
Before Ming Juan could finish her sentence, Zombie King was already engulfed in Black Lightning, appearing in front of the exhausted Blue Face Hero to shield him from the wave of light.
"You don't want to kiss me, do you..."
Ming Juan trembled, slowly lowering her head.
He was still the same; whenever anyone was in danger, it was always Miao Chengmin who stepped forward. Although Ming Juan felt sad about his lack of companionship, she knew that such a righteous and fearless man was rare.
In this reunion, he remained the hero in people's eyes, willing to sacrifice his own feelings to protect others.
But Ming Juan would not understand that Miao Chengmin had his own struggles.
He would never allow a disgusting zombie to kiss the purest girl in his heart, even if that zombie was himself.
"Juanzi, hide!" Zombie King shouted while blocking the shockwave.
Ming Juan nodded and quickly crawled towards the nearby internet café.
Watching Ming Juan run inside, Zombie King summoned a Chaos Sphere with his other hand. Due to the dazzling shockwave obscuring his vision, he could only rely on instinct to throw the Chaos Sphere.
Even with a Force Field for protection, Zombie Queen, being a human soul, instinctively covered her eyes when she sensed an attack coming.
Seizing the opportunity, Zombie King charged forward...
"Slash!"
"Slash!" "Slash!"
...
After five sounds of bodies being pierced, Ming Juan, hearing the commotion, turned to look out the window and immediately covered her mouth with both hands.
Zombie King might have forgotten that Chaos Power is a life form; whoever's body it enters becomes a guardian presence.
The five Venomous Blades of Zombie Queen pierced into Zombie King's body, converging at one point as she roared:
"Shred you all!"
