On the way home, Lin Wan asked, "Chen Wu, it seems like your relationship with your parents isn't very good?"
"Yes," I nodded.
"Why?" she asked.
"They don't deserve to be parents," I said coldly.
"Ah?" Lin Wan's eyes widened in surprise.
"They abandoned me when I needed them the most," I replied.
"Why did they... get divorced?" Lin Wan asked cautiously.
"Because..." I couldn't find the words.
I didn't want to tell her the truth.
It was a shame for me.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked," Lin Wan said softly.
"It's okay," I shook my head.
We fell silent for a moment.
"Actually, I've long since gotten used to it," I said lightly.
"Mm," Lin Wan nodded.
"I haven't seen them for many years," I continued.
"Then today you..." Lin Wan looked at me with some confusion.
"I wanted them to know that I've grown up," I said.
"Mm," Lin Wan nodded.
"And I also wanted them to know that I'm getting married," I added.
"Mm," Lin Wan nodded again.
I turned to look at her; her eyes were slightly red.
"What's wrong?" I asked in surprise.
"I... I feel so sorry for you..." Lin Wan choked out.
"Fool," I laughed, "what's there to feel sorry about?"
"You were so young when they divorced..." Lin Wan said.
"That was a long time ago," I replied lightly.
"But..." Lin Wan wanted to say something more.
"Don't think about it," I interrupted her, "I've gotten used to it."
"Mm." Lin Wan nodded.
"I only want you," I said softly.
Lin Wan looked at me and suddenly impulsively hugged me.
I was taken aback.
I didn't expect her to hug me so suddenly.
I stood there in a daze, letting her hold me.
Her embrace was warm and soft.
I could feel her heart pounding rapidly.
My heart started racing as well.
I didn't know how long we held each other until I felt her face pressed against my neck, damp with tears.
I knew she was crying.
My heart ached instantly.
I reached out and gently stroked her back.
She cried even harder.
"Don't cry," I said softly.
"I can't help it..." she sobbed.
"Fool," I sighed.
"I just feel so sorry for you..." she cried.
"What's there to feel sorry for?" I said with a bitter smile.
"You were so young when they got divorced..." she cried.
"That was a long time ago," I replied lightly.
"But..." she wanted to say something more.
"Don't say anything," I interrupted her, "I have you now, right?"
"Mm." She nodded.
"So, don't cry," I said softly.
"Mm." She nodded again.
I gently pushed her away and took out a tissue to wipe the tears from her face.
She looked at me, her eyes filled with tears.
My heart ached again.
I couldn't help but lower my head and kiss her.
The next morning, I slept in.
After waking up, I got up to wash up and have breakfast.
After finishing breakfast, I planned to go to work.
"Where are you going?" Chen Wu asked.
"I'm going to work," I replied.
"You're not going to work today," he said.
"Why?" I was a bit puzzled.
"Did you forget?" he asked.
"What?" I was confused.
"We're going to get the marriage certificate today," he said.
"Oh." I suddenly realized.
