The next morning, when I woke up, he had already prepared breakfast. I got up, washed up, and sat at the dining table. He brought over fried eggs and milk.
"Thank you," I said.
"You're welcome," he replied.
I took a sip of the milk; it tasted great.
"You made this?" I asked in surprise.
"Yeah," he nodded.
"That's impressive," I admired.
He smiled.
After finishing breakfast, he took me home. My parents were a bit surprised to see us get out of a car together.
"You two..." my mom looked at him hesitantly.
"We slept together yesterday," I explained.
"Oh," my mom nodded, "then come in quickly."
So, we entered the house. My parents were quite pleased with Chen Wu.
"Xiao Chen, you need to treat our Lin Wan well from now on," my dad said, patting his shoulder.
"Definitely," he nodded seriously.
My mom went to make lunch, and I walked into the kitchen to help.
"Look how considerate Xiao Chen is," my mom praised.
"Yeah," I nodded.
"You should cherish him," my mom advised.
"I will," I nodded again.
The dishes were served on the table, and we began to eat.
Dad took a small sip of wine and sighed, "Time waits for no one."
"You’re at it again," Mom shot him a glance.
"What’s wrong with that?" Dad replied defiantly.
Seeing them about to bicker again, I quickly intervened, "Dad, Mom, let’s eat."
"Right, right, let’s eat," Chen Wu chimed in.
Only then did Dad and Mom stop their quarrel and start eating.
After dinner, Chen Wu and I washed the dishes together.
"Look at us, we have such great chemistry," he said with a smile.
"Yeah," I nodded.
We exchanged smiles, our hearts filled with sweetness.
Once we finished washing the dishes, we returned to the living room where Dad and Mom were watching TV.
"Let’s go for a walk," Chen Wu suggested.
"Okay," I nodded.
So we stepped outside.
We strolled through the neighborhood, the evening breeze gently brushing against our cheeks, refreshing and pleasant.
"Tonight, we can watch the stars together," I said dreamily.
"Mm-hmm," he nodded.
We walked silently forward, enjoying this tranquil moment.
"Lin Wan," he suddenly called out.
"Mm?" I turned to look at him.
"I love you," he said softly.
My heart skipped a beat, feeling warmth spread throughout my body.
"I love you too," I whispered back.
He reached out his hand and held mine.
I looked at him, my heart filled with happiness.
"We should always be like this in the future, never to be separated," he said.
"Mm." I nodded vigorously.
We held each other's hands tightly, as if we would never let go.
On the day of the wedding, my mother woke me up at four in the morning to do my makeup.
The makeup artist applied various products on me, and I looked at my reflection in the mirror, feeling somewhat unfamiliar.
Zhou Wen, as the bridesmaid, had also arrived at my house early.
"Wow, Xiao Yuan, you look so beautiful today!" she exclaimed.
"Thank you," I replied with a smile.
"I'm speaking the truth," she laughed.
"By the way, did you hide a couple of packs of Shaqima?" I asked.
"Of course I did," she said proudly. "As the bridesmaid, I have to take care of the bride."
"That's good to hear," I nodded.
"Don't worry, I guarantee you won't go hungry at the wedding," she patted her chest.
"Then I'm relieved," I smiled.
After finishing my makeup, it was already six-thirty.
Chen Wu's call came in.
"Are you ready?" he asked.
"I'm ready," I replied.
"Then I'll come pick you up now," he said.
"Mm." I nodded.
After hanging up, my heart was filled with anticipation and nervousness.
At seven o'clock, the doorbell rang.
"They're here!" Zhou Wen jumped up excitedly to open the door.
When the door opened, Chen Wu appeared at the entrance.
He was dressed in a black suit, wearing a tie, with neatly combed short hair, looking handsome and dashing.
"Wow, Chen Wu, you look so handsome today!" Zhou Wen gushed.
"Thank you." He smiled.
"Xiao Yuan, hurry up, the groom is here to pick you up," Zhou Wen called out to me.
I stood up and walked towards him. He reached out his hand and took mine.
"You look beautiful today," he said softly.
"Thank you." I smiled shyly.
"Let's go," he said.
"Okay." I nodded.
Then, we stepped outside and got into the wedding car.
Inside the car, I looked out at the scenery, filled with complex emotions. I was finally getting married. I was finally marrying the person I loved the most.
I remembered the first time we met; it was back in high school. He was playing basketball on the court while I watched from the stands. His figure was so striking that it was hard to look away...
Lost in thought, my eyes began to mist over.
"Xiao Yuan, what's wrong?" Chen Wu asked with concern.
"I'm fine." I shook my head. "I'm just really happy."
"Silly, why are you crying?" He gently wiped away my tears.
"I can't help it," I choked out.
"Don't cry; today is our big day, we should be happy," he urged.
"Okay." I nodded vigorously and forced a smile.
"That's more like it." He smiled back and held my hand.
I looked at him, my heart filled with happiness.
