Zhou Qi stood downstairs, calling Liu Liang: "Uncle Liu, has Zhou Qiang had an accident?" 0
Liu Liang replied, "How did you know?" 0
Zhou Qi asked, "Is my brother in trouble?" 0
Liu Liang was silent for a moment: "Yes, Zhou Qiang has sacrificed himself." 0
Zhou Qi: "……" 0
Liu Liang continued, "Half a month ago, Zhou Qiang was on a mission in Northern Myanmar. He sacrificed himself to save a child." 0
Zhou Qi: "……" 0
Liu Liang added, "Zhou Qiang sacrificed himself to save the child. The child was rescued, but he didn't come back…" 0
Zhou Qi: "……" 0
Liu Liang said, "Zhou Qiang's body was found three days later. It was too badly damaged by wild animals, so it wasn't brought back; it was cremated locally." 0
Zhou Qi: "……" 0
Liu Liang continued, "Zhou Qiang's memorial service was held five days ago. His brother happened to return from abroad that day; they look very much alike." 0
Zhou Qi: "……" 0
Liu Liang sighed, "Zhou Qiang… sigh, he was a good kid; it's such a pity." 0
Zhou Qi: "……" 0
After hanging up the phone, Zhou Qi turned around and saw Xu Jing. She had been standing behind him for some time and had heard the news of Zhou Qiang's sacrifice. 0
Zhou Qi's heart suddenly felt like it was being pricked by needles, aching intensely. 0
He forced himself to suppress the pain inside and walked up to Xu Jing, trying hard to squeeze out a smile: "Xu Jing, I…" 0
"I want to see Zhou Qiang one last time." 0
Zhou Qi: "……" 0
Xu Jing held back her tears and looked up at him: "Zhou Qi, please let me see Zhou Qiang one last time, okay?" 0
Zhou Qi: "……" 0
He wanted to refuse, but he couldn't bring himself to do it. 0

Xu Jing stood in front of Zhou Qiang's gravestone, unwilling to leave for a long time. She remembered five years ago when Zhou Qiang married her; he was still a spirited young man. But now, he lay alone in this cold world, resting forever here. Xu Jing felt as if all of this was a dream. How could someone as good, kind, and brave as Zhou Qiang be dead? Xu Jing did not believe it. She thought that perhaps Zhou Qiang was just too tired and had fallen asleep temporarily. Maybe one day, he would wake up. 0

Xu Jing sat down beside Zhou Qiang's gravestone, looking at the photo of him on the stone, tears silently streaming down her face. She recalled their wedding year when Zhou Qiang held their marriage certificate, looking as happy as a child. He said, "Xu Jing, don't worry. I will take good care of you and won't let you suffer even the slightest grievance." But now, he had broken his promise. 0

Xu Jing raised her hand and gently stroked the photo of Zhou Qiang on the gravestone, tears falling drop by drop. "Zhou Qiang, how could you leave me?" she cried. "You promised to take care of me for a lifetime." "You promised me..." "Zhou Qiang, get up! Look at me! Look at me..." "Zhou Qiang..." 0

Xu Jing cried until she nearly fainted. After an unknown amount of time, she finally cried herself out. Leaning against the gravestone, she slowly fell asleep. In her dreams, she felt a hand gently stroking her hair. The hand was very gentle and warm, just like Zhou Qiang's hand. 0

Xu Jing opened her eyes and saw Huang Hongwei. She quickly stood up and wiped her tears hastily. "What are you doing here?" Huang Hongwei looked at her swollen eyes and sighed. "I came to bring you something." Saying this, Huang Hongwei took out a letter and a divorce certificate and handed them to Xu Jing. Xu Jing trembled as she received them with shaking hands. 0

She first opened the divorce certificate. When she saw the embossed seal and the name Zhou Qiang on it, Xu Jing could no longer hold back and began to cry uncontrollably. Huang Hongwei did not try to comfort her; he simply stood quietly by her side, allowing her to vent her emotions. 0

Xu Jing cried for a long time until she finally exhausted herself. She wiped her tears and opened the letter. The letter was written by Zhou Qiang. 0

"Xu Jing, by the time you read this letter, I will probably no longer be here." 0

"Don't cry; I hate to see you cry." 0

"Xu Jing, you are the most important woman in my life. I have always wanted to protect you and keep you safe, but unfortunately, I can no longer do that." 0

"Xu Jing, I am a police officer. From the day I put on that uniform, I knew that this day would eventually come." 0

"Xu Jing, I know about your relationship with my brother. I don't want to put you in a difficult position, so I've chosen to leave. I don't want you to be sad because of me." 0

"Xu Jing, after I'm gone, please don't be sad for me or feel distressed. I hope you can quickly move past this shadow and live a life that belongs to you." 0

"Xu Jing, you are the woman I love the most. I hope you can find happiness." 0

"Xu Jing, don't let yourself fall into despair because of me. I hope you can break free from this unhealthy relationship and seek your own happiness." 0

"Xu Jing, I love you." 0

"Forever loving you, Zhou Qiang." 0

Xu Jing could no longer bear to read on. She covered her face and crouched down on the ground, crying out loud. Huang Hongwei walked over, wrapped his arms around her, and gently patted her back to comfort her. Xu Jing cried even harder. 0

"Huang Hongwei," she said through her tears, "tell me this isn't true! This isn't true!" 0

Huang Hongwei sighed. "Xu Jing, Zhou Qiang wouldn't want to see you sad or upset. He hopes that you can live well." 0
