Xu Jiayi's face was pale, her eyes filled with terror. Her hair was disheveled, and her body was covered in dust, making her look quite disheveled.
"Jia Yi!" I called out excitedly as I ran towards Xu Jiayi.
When Xu Jiayi saw me, a look of surprise appeared on her face.
"Lu Fan, is that you?" Xu Jiayi asked, her voice trembling slightly.
I stepped forward gently, looking at Xu Jiayi with a heart full of pain.
"Yes, it's me," I nodded and said, reaching out to untie the ropes binding her.
Just then, the door to the room was suddenly flung open, and a tall man in black entered.
"Who are you? Why did you break in here?" The man in black glared at me and Uncle Zhao, his voice filled with anger.
I watched the man in black warily, clenching my fists and preparing for a fight.
"Don't be nervous; we're just here to rescue someone," Uncle Zhao said with a smile on his face.
The man in black sneered and said, "Do you really think you can save her?"
"Of course we can," Uncle Zhao replied confidently.
"You will regret this!" The man in black shouted as he lunged at me.
I quickly dodged the man's attack, sidestepping to the side while throwing a punch aimed at his abdomen.
The man in black staggered back a few steps, clutching his stomach with a pained expression on his face.
"Who are you?" the man in black asked, his tone filled with shock.
"My name is Lu Fan, and I'm here to save you," I said, my voice cold.
"Lu Fan?" The man in black paused for a moment, disbelief evident on his face.
He seemed to remember something, and his expression turned even angrier.
"So it's you!" the man in black shouted, lunging violently at Uncle Zhao.
Uncle Zhao deftly dodged the man's attack and landed a backfist to the man's chin.
The man in black was knocked to the ground, groaning in pain.
"You've really gotten stronger," Uncle Zhao remarked, looking at the man with indifference.
"Who... who are you really?" the man in black asked, his voice trembling with fear.
"I am here to save Xu Jiayi," Uncle Zhao replied, his tone calm and resolute.
The man in black struggled to get up but was pinned down by Uncle Zhao's foot on his chest, unable to move.
"Tell me, who sent you? Why did you kidnap Xu Jiayi?" Uncle Zhao questioned, his voice icy.
The man in black writhed in pain but could not escape Uncle Zhao's grip.
He glanced at me and then lowered his head, saying, "We... we were hired by Lin Tianyu."
"Lin Tianyu?" I asked in surprise, confused about why Lin Tianyu would want to kidnap Xu Jiayi.
"Why did Lin Tianyu want to kidnap Jia Yi?" Uncle Zhao pressed further, his tone still cold.
“Lin Tianyu... Lin Tianyu wants to use Jia Yi to threaten the Lin family...” the man in black said, his voice growing quieter.
Upon hearing this, I immediately understood.
It turned out that this was all part of Lin Tianyu's scheme.
He was willing to go so far as to kidnap Xu Jiayi in order to threaten his own family for the power of the Lin family.
“Lin Tianyu is truly insane,” I said, clenching my fists in anger.
“Lu Fan, calm down,” Uncle Zhao said, his gaze fixed on the man in black.
“I won't let him get away with this!” I exclaimed, my tone filled with rage.
“Now is not the time; we have more important things to do,” Uncle Zhao replied, scanning the surroundings.
I took a deep breath, suppressing the anger within me as I looked at Uncle Zhao.
“What should we do?” I asked.
“We need to leave here, find evidence, and expose Lin Tianyu's crimes,” Uncle Zhao said firmly.
“How are we going to leave?” I inquired.
“I've already made arrangements,” Uncle Zhao replied, pulling a key from his pocket and handing it to me.
“What is this?” I asked, taking the key with confusion.
"This is the key to the back door of the warehouse; it leads to the underground parking lot," Uncle Zhao said, his gaze fixed on me.
"Are we leaving now?" I asked.
"That's right," Uncle Zhao nodded, leading me out of the room.
We arrived at the back door of the warehouse, and Uncle Zhao unlocked it, signaling for me to follow him.
We stepped out of the warehouse and into the underground parking lot, where a black sedan was parked.
I felt a bit puzzled and asked, "Uncle Zhao, whose car is this?"
"This car is arranged by me; it's here to pick us up," Uncle Zhao replied, opening the door and gesturing for me to get in.
I got into the car, and Uncle Zhao followed suit, starting the engine and quickly leaving the underground parking lot.
"Where are we going?" I asked.
"I can't tell you that yet," Uncle Zhao said, his eyes focused ahead.
I silently nodded, not asking further questions.
My mind was filled with confusion; I had no idea where Uncle Zhao was taking me or what he planned to do next.
But I trusted Uncle Zhao; I believed he would help me achieve my revenge.
I watched the scenery rush by outside the window, my heart filled with anger and sadness.
I would not let Lin Tianyu go unpunished; he would pay for what he had done!
I clenched my fists, silently waiting for the moment of revenge to arrive.
Uncle Zhao did not answer, focusing intently on driving. The black sedan sped through the city streets under the night sky like an arrow released from a bow. Outside the window, the colorful neon lights rushed past, reflecting the tense atmosphere inside the car.
"We're going to a far place; it will take some time to get there," Uncle Zhao broke the silence, glancing at me. "During this time, you can rest well."
I nodded and closed my eyes, but my mind kept replaying the scene of Xu Jiayi being taken away by the men in black, my heart aching. I forced myself to calm down; I knew that only by becoming stronger could I rescue Xu Jiayi and make those who had harmed us pay.
I lost track of time until the car slowly came to a stop. I opened my eyes and found ourselves in a desolate suburb, not far from a dilapidated factory. The rusty iron gate was tightly shut, appearing particularly eerie in the night.
Uncle Zhao got out first and walked over to my side, opening the car door. "We've arrived."
I followed Uncle Zhao into the factory, and a damp, moldy smell hit me. The interior was vast and dimly lit, with only a few yellowed light bulbs casting weak glows over the dust-covered floor and abandoned machinery.
"What is this place?" I asked quietly as I looked around.
"This is one of my secret bases," Uncle Zhao replied as he walked over to a wall and fumbled for a button.
With a dull mechanical sound, the wall slowly slid open to reveal a passage leading underground. The brightly lit corridor stood in stark contrast to the dilapidated surroundings outside, filling me with curiosity and confusion.
"Follow me," Uncle Zhao said as he stepped into the passage first.
