The next morning, Rao Jie woke up feeling as if she could still hear Wu Rong's incessant instructions from the night before. If there was a switch on her body, she would definitely force herself to turn it off.
She got out of bed and prepared breakfast.
Oh right, she also needed to wake someone up for breakfast. This caretaker-like task was something she had agreed to, and she was determined to see it through, even if it felt like a chore.
However, when she knocked on the door for five minutes without any response, Rao Jie felt utterly frustrated.
She had no choice but to call instead. After three attempts, she could hear the vibrating sound coming from inside, yet still no one answered.
Was he sleeping or dead?
Rao Jie almost gave up, but then remembered Wu Rong's serious insistence from last night that she must wake him up for breakfast!
With a sigh, Rao Jie began shouting outside the door, knocking and calling out. She felt like she had never been this loud before. Would the neighbors complain?
Just when she was about to tire herself out from shouting, the door suddenly swung open with a bang.
Wu Rong stood at the doorway, squinting his eyes and wearing a gloomy expression as he coldly stared at Rao Jie, radiating an aura that suggested he was about to erupt like a volcano.
The sight of such a formidable presence startled Rao Jie, making her take three steps back to avoid the chill.
Uh-oh, did Wu Rong have a case of morning grumpiness?
Rao Jie felt certain that she would be the target of his frustration and quickly deflected. "Professor Wu, it's seven-thirty; that's the time you set! Breakfast is ready for you. You said last night that I must wake you up for breakfast!"
She cautiously watched Wu Rong's reaction as he glared at her for a moment before turning and heading into his bathroom.
Only then did Rao Jie breathe a sigh of relief, feeling like she had narrowly escaped death.
...
When Wu Rong came out for breakfast, his anger had subsided somewhat, but he still looked a bit sullen.
Rao Jie thought to herself that since he hadn't scolded her, it meant she hadn't done anything wrong?
However, Wu Rong's morning grumpiness was intense. If every day was going to be this nerve-wracking, Rao Jie really needed to consider getting herself some insurance for her nerves.
For the sake of her own safety, she couldn't help but suggest, "Professor Wu, since you get so angry when I wake you up, why not just sleep in? You don't have any classes today!"
Wu Rong glanced at Rao Jie with tired eyes and lazily replied, "I can sleep in, but I must eat breakfast. Even if I’m not good at living on my own, I know how to maintain my basic health. So exercise and three meals a day are absolutely essential."
Rao Jie twitched her lips. She didn't know whether to praise him or complain.
Not willing to give up easily, Rao Jie said, "But calling you like this is so inefficient; why not just set an alarm yourself?"
"I've set an alarm, but it doesn't work. I only wake up naturally when I actually have something important to do in the morning," Wu Rong explained while leisurely eating.
Rao Jie felt a bit deflated; after all, even a few seconds of the Demon King's morning grumpiness could be quite terrifying.
Wu Rong looked up at Rao Jie and, seeing her despondent expression, hesitated for a moment before suggesting, "From now on, I won't lock the door. You can come in and wake me up. It will be more efficient and won't disturb others."
Rao Jie was so shocked that she almost dropped her chopsticks. Was Wu Rong really that unconcerned about her personal space? Was it really okay to give her such free access?
And wouldn’t calling someone up close like that just make things worse?
Rao Jie looked at Wu Rong with some skepticism.
Wu Rong, feeling impatient, said, "Isn't this enough? What do you want then?"
Did she really want to refuse this Wake-Up Service?
But Rao Jie didn't dare to bring it up and could only awkwardly agree.
