The person outside seemed to breathe a sigh of relief, and then Xinping heard a soft "click."
The sound of the lock being engaged.
Xinping's heart sank.
Her mind raced.
She hadn't locked the door, so aside from her brother, only Liu Jinming had the reason, motive, and ability to enter this room.
Thinking of this, Xinping couldn't help but feel a twinge of regret.
She shouldn't have been so trusting of others.
Liu Jinming's hand brushed against Xinping's face.
His movements were gentle, as if he feared waking her.
Xinping fought back her nausea and remained still.
Liu Jinming moved from her face to her arm, then to her abdomen, and attempted to unbutton her nightgown.
Unable to endure it any longer, Xinping suddenly opened her eyes and kicked at his face.
Liu Jinming was caught off guard and fell backward.
Taking the opportunity, Xinping grabbed his arm and bit down hard.
She used all her strength, and the taste of blood filled her mouth.
She wanted Liu Jinming to pay the price.
If his daughter bit her, she would bite him back.
Liu Jinming let out a muffled grunt but did not resist, allowing Xinping to vent her frustration.
When Xinping finally grew tired of biting, he softly asked, "Does that make you feel better?"
Xinping said nothing, wiped her mouth, and glared at him with hatred.
Liu Jinming looked at her and suddenly smiled.
Xinping felt a chill run down her spine, covered in goosebumps.
"What are you laughing at?" she asked warily.
Liu Jinming shook his head without answering and continued to ask, "Are you feeling better now?"
Xinping sneered, "What do you think?"
Liu Jinming lowered his eyes and replied, "I think you're still not feeling better."
"Then why don't you hurry up and get lost!" Xinping shouted, "Do I need to call my brother to throw you out?"
Liu Jinming looked at her with gentle yet unwavering eyes. "Xinping, I won't leave you."
A glint of ruthlessness flashed in Xinping's eyes.
Without hesitation, she lunged at Liu Jinming and bit down hard on his shoulder.
Liu Jinming winced in pain and instinctively pushed her away.
Xinping grabbed his arm and refused to let go, using all her strength to struggle against him.
One thought consumed her mind: If you want me dead, then let's die together.
With that thought, she bit down decisively.
Liu Jinming was taken aback that she would actually bite him; the pain made him gasp as he quickly pushed her away.
Xinping held on tightly, indifferent to the pain of her lips being cut by his teeth, still refusing to release her grip.
Her mind was blank except for one thought: to bite him to death.
Liu Jinming swung a punch at her; Xinping instinctively dodged but still got clipped on the chin.
The pain brought tears to her eyes, yet she still wouldn't let go.
Seeing this, Liu Jinming became furious and raised his fist again.
Xinping seized the opportunity and struck out with her palm, aiming directly at his face.
Liu Jinming instinctively closed his eyes, and Xinping took the chance to kick him hard.
The door swung open.
Ignoring everything else, Xinping struggled toward the doorway while still holding on tightly.
"Xinping!" Her brother's voice came through the door, sounding muffled and distant. "What's wrong? Did Liu Jinming go in? Open the door, don't scare me..."
Xinping wanted to reply with a "yes," but as soon as she opened her mouth, she bit down harder.
Liu Jinming felt the pain and began to push her away again.
Ignoring him, Xinping was like a wild boar rolling in the mud, or a beast driven to desperation, her mind only focused on taking him down with her.
Before she could reach the door, Liu Jinming suddenly pushed her back with force.
Xinping fell to the ground, and Liu Jinming also awkwardly landed on the floor.
"Xinping!" Her brother was still banging on the door, his tone growing increasingly anxious. "Xinping, don't scare me! What’s wrong with you?"
Xinping struggled to lift her head and charged at him fiercely.
Liu Jinming was knocked back by her impact, his head hitting the wall hard.
