Chen Mo pretended to be calm as he picked up the divorce agreement from the table, his gaze scanning the terms. A cold smile tugged at the corners of his mouth. "Lin Wei, stop pretending. Are you trying to threaten me this way? Let me tell you, it's useless! Do you think your little tricks can change anything?"
Lin Wei gently shook her head, picked up the coffee on the table, and elegantly took a sip. Her gaze fell on the swirling coffee in the cup, her tone flat as if discussing someone else's affairs. "Chen Mo, you know whether or not I am threatening you. After three years of marriage, you know how I've treated you. I'm here today just to tell you that parting amicably is good for both of us."
"Parting amicably? You're talking about parting amicably while taking half of my assets?" Chen Mo slammed his hand on the table, his face turning red as he pointed angrily at Lin Wei. "Lin Wei, don't take advantage and act innocent! Without me, you're nothing!"
Sitting next to Chen Mo, Su Qing had deliberately worn a bright red dress today, which made her skin appear even fairer. Her long hair cascaded over her shoulders, and a hint of smugness graced her face. She gently stroked Chen Mo's hand and spoke softly, "Chen Ge, don't be angry; it's not worth getting upset over. She just thought it through wrong for a moment. Once she calms down, she'll understand."
Su Qing's words and actions only fueled Chen Mo's anger further. "Understand? What can she understand? She just wants to take my money and then fly away with her little boy toy!"
Lin Wei set down her coffee cup and raised her head to meet Chen Mo's gaze with icy eyes. "Chen Mo, you can eat whatever you want, but don't say whatever comes to mind. You know what kind of person I am. If you called me here today just to say these baseless things, then I can only say you're wasting my time."
As Lin Wei spoke, she stood up, grabbed her bag from the chair, and turned to leave.
"Stop!" Chen Mo suddenly stood up, glaring at Lin Wei's back. "Lin Wei, let me tell you, if you want money, forget it! If you want a divorce, leave empty-handed! Otherwise, just wait for the lawyer's letter!"
Lin Wei paused but did not turn around; she simply said calmly, "I hope Mr. Chen won't regret it in the future." With that, she left the café without looking back.
Chen Mo watched Lin Wei's departing figure with a flicker of panic in his eyes, but he quickly suppressed it and turned to Su Qing. "It's fine; she's just bluffing; don't worry about her."
Su Qing nestled into Chen Mo's embrace, a barely noticeable cold smile playing on her lips as she softly said, "Chen Ge, I believe in you."
Chen Mo held Su Qing close and left the café with an air of calmness; however, he unconsciously tightened his grip on Su Qing's hand as if trying to hold onto something tightly.
The glass door of the café automatically closed, isolating Chen Mo's feigned calm figure inside. Lin Wei stood by the roadside, taking a deep breath, as if the air in City A was filled with a nauseating scent of hypocrisy and betrayal. A taxi slowly pulled up in front of her; she opened the door and got in, giving the address of Aunt Wang's house.
"Wei Wei, are you okay?" Aunt Wang rushed over as soon as she saw Lin Wei, her face filled with concern.
Lin Wei forced a smile. "I'm fine, Aunt Wang. Sorry to worry you."
Aunt Wang took Lin Wei's bag and sighed. "Silly girl, if something's wrong, just say it. Don't keep it bottled up inside."
Lin Wei shook her head and walked into the living room. This apartment was bought with her savings before she married Chen Mo, and only her name was on the property deed. It was her last retreat and also her confidence for a counterattack.
"Lawyer Lu, do you have any news?" Lin Wei dialed Lu Zhe's number, her tone calm as if she were asking about the weather today.
