"That's good to hear." Mo Liangzhe sighed in relief. "You look unwell; I should take you to the hospital."
"No need," Ye Jingzhu shook her head. "I can go by myself."
"That's not acceptable," Mo Liangzhe said worriedly. "I can't feel at ease with you like this."
"I'm really fine," Ye Jingzhu said gratefully as she looked at Mo Liangzhe. "Thank you, Dr. Mo."
"Jingzhu, why are you being so polite with me?" Mo Liangzhe smiled. "We're friends, after all."
"Yes," Ye Jingzhu nodded. "Dr. Mo, you should go back now; I can manage to get to the hospital on my own."
"Alright then." Seeing Ye Jingzhu so insistent, Mo Liangzhe didn't push further. "Just be careful."
"Okay." Ye Jingzhu smiled lightly as she watched Mo Liangzhe leave.
She stood by the roadside for a while, and only when her stomach pain subsided did she slowly walk toward her apartment.
Walking down the street, she noticed many pedestrians; it was bustling with activity.
Ye Jingzhu walked slowly, glancing at the shops around her, feeling a bit unsettled inside.
She thought she could forget everything, but standing in familiar places again brought back painful memories.
Her mood grew heavy as she continued walking forward, surrounded by all that felt so ironic.
Suddenly, a black car sped towards her, startling Ye Jingzhu. She took a few steps back as the vehicle came to a sudden stop in front of her.
The person in the car hurriedly got out. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry."
Ye Jingzhu shook her head. "I'm fine."
"Jingzhu." The person in the car took off their sunglasses, revealing a look of surprise. "Jingzhu."
Ye Jingzhu looked up in shock at the person before her. "Shen Xingyu."
"Jingzhu, you're okay." Shen Xingyu excitedly grasped Ye Jingzhu's shoulders, unable to believe his eyes. After searching for so long, he had finally found Ye Jingzhu standing right in front of him.
Ye Jingzhu hadn't expected to see Shen Xingyu again and felt a bit flustered. "Shen Xingyu, let go of me."
"I won't let go." Shen Xingyu refused to release Ye Jingzhu, fearing that if he did, she would disappear once more.
"Shen Xingyu, let me go," Ye Jingzhu struggled. "You have the wrong person; I am not Ye Jingzhu."
"You are Ye Jingzhu," Shen Xingyu said firmly. "Jingzhu, how could you not be Ye Jingzhu?"
"Shen Xingyu, please let me go!" Ye Jingzhu looked at Shen Xingyu. "I no longer love you."
Shen Xingyu trembled all over, staring blankly at Ye Jingzhu. "What did you say?"
"Shen Xingyu, I no longer love you," Ye Jingzhu said, looking at him. "So please stop bothering me."
"No, I don't believe it." Shen Xingyu couldn't accept that Ye Jingzhu no longer loved him; his brows furrowed tightly. "Ye Jingzhu, you’re lying to me."
"Shen Xingyu, I'm not lying to you," Ye Jingzhu said calmly. "During the time without you, I found myself. I have let go of my love for you."
"No, I don't believe it." Shen Xingyu gripped Ye Jingzhu's collar tightly, his eyes wide with disbelief. "Ye Jingzhu, you're lying to me."
"Shen Xingyu, I'm not lying to you," Ye Jingzhu said very calmly. "Shen Xingyu, it's really impossible between us now."
"No." Shen Xingyu shouted loudly. "Ye Jingzhu, you are mine; you will always be mine."
"Shen Xingyu, let go!" Ye Jingzhu looked at him. "We are no longer possible."
Shen Xingyu looked at Ye Jingzhu; his hands fell weakly to his sides, his eyes hollow and his heart dead silent.
Ye Jingzhu looked at Shen Xingyu; she knew her words were a blow to him, but she was speaking the truth—she truly no longer loved Shen Xingyu.
She turned around and left without looking back.
Shen Xingyu watched Ye Jingzhu's departing figure; he had never felt such loss and helplessness before.
He didn't know how he got back to the car; his hands gripped the steering wheel as his shoulders shook. He leaned over the wheel and cried out in anguish.
After calming himself down, Shen Xingyu picked up his phone. "Search the entire city for Ye Jingzhu's whereabouts."
"Yes."
Shen Xingyu closed his eyes; his mind was filled with images of Ye Jingzhu. How could he let her leave him?
He thought of the forensic doctor and decided to pay a visit.
Three hours later, Shen Xingyu's subordinate Little Ma returned.
"Mr. Shen, we found something," Little Ma said as he stood in front of Shen Xingyu's desk, looking serious.
"Speak," Shen Xingyu said in a deep voice.
"The forensic expert said he made the false report under the orders of Mo Liangzhe," Little Ma said.
"Mo Liangzhe." Shen Xingyu narrowed his eyes, a cold smile curling at the corners of his mouth. "So it's Mo Liangzhe."
"Mr. Shen, should we continue the investigation?" Little Ma asked.
"No need," Shen Xingyu waved his hand. "I'll go meet Mo Liangzhe myself."
"Understood."
