"Everyone, let's take a break. We have to continue recording the show tomorrow," Lin Xuemin said as he walked over and gently patted Lin Lu's shoulder.
Lin Lu nodded, stood up, and walked under the canopy, finding a corner to rest.
Seeing Lin Xuemin arrive, Chen Xue immediately changed her demeanor, greeting him with a bright smile. "Lin Xuemin, you are amazing! You managed to set up the house so quickly."
Lin Xuemin merely nodded slightly and ignored her, turning to walk towards Lin Lu.
"Xiaolu, are you okay?" Lin Xuemin asked softly.
Lin Lu shook her head. "I'm fine, just a bit tired."
"Then you should rest. I'll go check around to ensure everything is safe," Lin Xuemin said as he took a flashlight and walked off into the distance.
Lin Lu watched Lin Xuemin leave, her eyes filled with gratitude and reassurance.
Lying on the makeshift bed with her eyes closed, Lin Lu found it impossible to sleep. The events of the day kept replaying in her mind, especially Chen Xue's words: "If your brother weren't Lin Xuemin, would you have found water and shelter so quickly?"
She knew that Chen Xue was deliberately trying to sow discord between her and Li Xue, aiming to isolate her and put her at a disadvantage in the show.
She wouldn't let Chen Xue succeed!
She would prove herself with her own strength!
"Xiaolu, are you asleep?" Yan Liming's voice came from the darkness, breaking the night's tranquility.
Lin Lu lifted her head and saw Yan Liming standing not far away, holding a thermos.
"Why are you still awake?" Lin Lu asked.
"I can't sleep," Yan Liming said as he approached Lin Lu, handing her a thermos. "I made you a cup of hot milk. Drink it to warm yourself up."
Lin Lu took the thermos, inhaling the fragrant aroma of the milk, feeling a warm sensation rise in her heart.
"Thank you."
"No need to thank me," Yan Liming replied with a smile. "I have some things to take care of, so I'll be going now."
Lin Lu nodded, watching Yan Liming leave.
She took a gentle sip of the milk, feeling its warmth slowly spreading in her stomach, yet her heart was filled with complex emotions.
Yan Liming's kindness touched her deeply and stirred her feelings.
However, she couldn't forget the pain of the past.
Lin Lu set the cup aside, lay back down, closed her eyes, and tried hard to drift off to sleep.
As dawn broke, a new day began.
The production team announced a new challenge task, requiring all guests to search for ingredients in designated areas and participate in a cooking competition.
Lin Lu and her teammates split up to look for edible plants in the dense forest.
"Everyone be careful, there are quite a few poisonous mushrooms here," Lin Xuemin said as he walked at the front of the group, reminding everyone.
"I know, brother," Lin Lu nodded, her eyes scanning the surroundings for edible plants.
Lin Lu and her teammates searched the forest for the entire morning and finally found some edible wild vegetables and mushrooms.
They returned to the campsite and began preparing for the cooking competition.
"Xiaolu, you take charge of cooking," Lin Xuemin said with a smile, "You're our team's chef."
Lin Lu nodded and started preparing the ingredients.
She took out the seasonings she had prepared in advance and began cooking.
As she cooked, she kept an eye on the progress of the other teams.
She noticed that Chen Xue and Li Xue's team was making excellent progress; they had found many ingredients and were already preparing for the cooking competition.
"It seems we need to speed up," Lin Lu thought to herself, focusing more intently on her cooking.
Time flew by, and the deadline for the competition was approaching quickly.
Lin Lu finally finished her dish and placed it on the table.
"Lin Lu, what dish did you make?" Lin Xuemin asked.
"This is my mom's signature dish, called 'Mushroom Chicken Soup,'" Lin Lu said with a smile.
"Mushroom Chicken Soup? It sounds delicious," Lin Xuemin said as he picked up a spoon, scooped up some soup, and took a sip. His eyes lit up. "Mmm, it’s really fragrant! Xiaolu, you’re amazing."
"Thank you, brother," Lin Lu replied, her face showing a satisfied smile.
"Teachers, please present your competition dishes!" the host announced.
Lin Lu and her teammates brought their dishes to the judges.
The judges carefully tasted their dishes and provided feedback.
"Lin Lu, your Mushroom Chicken Soup is excellent; it’s flavorful and nutritious. Congratulations on winning this competition!" the judge announced.
Chen Xue clenched her fists in frustration, her nails digging deep into her flesh without her noticing the pain. She turned to look out the window, where the calm sea seemed to hide turbulent undercurrents.
"Xue Jie, don’t be upset. The production team is clearly favoring Lin Lu, giving her all the camera time..." an assistant whispered beside her, cautiously observing Chen Xue's expression.
Chen Xue suddenly turned her head, glaring sharply at the assistant, causing them to fall silent in fear.
"Favoritism? Hmph, I want to see how long they can keep this up!" Chen Xue scoffed coldly, a hint of malice flashing in her eyes. She pushed the assistant aside and walked straight to her room, leaving the assistant trembling in place.
