"Sis, you get grumpy when you wake up, and I can't wake you up, so I had to let Brother Fang Chu come with me to the car," Chen Yueyue said innocently, blinking her eyes.
"You..." I gritted my teeth in anger. Why didn't he tell me in advance so I could prepare myself?
"You two siblings have a really good relationship," Fang Chu said, looking at me with a faint smile on his face.
"Hehe." I forced a laugh, unsure of what to say.
Chen Yueyue and Shen Yuqian were being affectionate beside me, and I snapped a picture to send to my parents. "Look at your son; he's completely different from before," I teased, tucking my phone into my pocket.
"Uncle and Auntie will definitely be happy to see these photos," Fang Chu said as he walked over to me, looking down at the grass on the ground.
"Yeah." I nodded. "They should be having a great time abroad."
"Let's go." He turned around and walked into the woods.
"Where are we going?" I jogged to catch up.
"Yueyue assigned us the task of collecting firewood."
"Why?" I bit my teeth in frustration. I'm the older sister, okay?
"Your brother is with his girlfriend; don't disturb them."
"Got it." I pouted and resignedly followed him into the woods. Collecting firewood requires tools, so I borrowed a tricycle.
He frowned and asked, "Can you drive?"
"Of course I can," I confidently patted my chest. "Get on, I promise I won't throw you off."
The corner of his mouth twitched. "Are you sure?"
"Absolutely sure."
I pushed the Tricycle in front of him. "Come on."
He hesitated for a few seconds but eventually climbed on.
I took the driver's seat and started the Tricycle.
"Hold on tight!"
I shouted and slammed down on the accelerator.
The Tricycle shot forward quickly, almost throwing him off.
"Slow down!"
He turned pale with fear and quickly grabbed the handrail.
"Don't worry, I'm a great driver; I won't let you fall."
I chuckled and accelerated again.
I drove ahead while he screamed behind me.
When we reached our destination, his legs felt weak, and he could barely walk.
"Are you okay?"
I leaned in front of him, looking worried.
"I'm... I'm fine," he waved his hand and took a deep breath.
"That's good."
I found a clean spot to sit down and started grilling meat.
Shen Yuqian walked over with her phone. "Sister, look at this photo."
I tilted my head to see it was a picture of me driving the Tricycle with Fang Chu on it.
I burst into laughter, nearly gasping for air.
"Hahaha, Fang Chu, you're so timid!"
He frowned, looking somewhat displeased.
"Don't be afraid, I'm really good at riding a tricycle. Even if I fall, I'll protect you."
"Just focus on driving."
He maintained a serious expression.
"Alright, alright."
I suppressed my laughter and continued grilling the meat.
"Sis, can you get me a portion of fried noodles?"
Chen Yueyue shouted from a distance.
"Got it."
I replied and shared the grilled meat with them.
After eating and drinking to our fill, we sat on the lawn to rest.
Shen Yuqian leaned close to my ear and whispered, "Sis, I asked Fang Chu to give you a raise."
"Thank you."
I excitedly hugged her.
Fang Chu looked at us, the corners of his mouth slightly lifting into a smile.
...
Back at the office, Manager Qu quickly sent me a message about a three-thousand-yuan raise.
My performance had been excellent, and I had been working overtime frequently.
Zhou Qingya's face turned pale with anger; she looked like she wanted to swallow me whole.
I smiled in schadenfreude.
At the end of the workday, she assigned me a lot of tasks again.
"Zhou Qingya, are you doing this on purpose?"
I slammed my hand on the table in frustration.
She crossed her arms and looked down at me arrogantly, "So what if I am?"
