"How fierce!" Rao Jie exclaimed once more.
Wu Rong was taken aback, staring at Rao Jie’s face. Although she was asleep, there was an oddly expressive look on her face—an expression of grievance mixed with a hint of fear that tugged at his heartstrings.
Did he really treat her too harshly? It seemed she had mentioned it before. In truth, he didn’t mean to be fierce… Rao Jie was quite serious about her work. Though a bit clumsy, she was a good person.
With this thought in mind, Wu Rong cleared his throat and suppressed the fierce expression that had unconsciously settled on his face, trying to appear a bit friendlier. Just as he was about to call out to her, Rao Jie muttered another word in her sleep.

When Rao Jie woke up in the morning, she felt completely stiff, as if her joints had deteriorated. Her back ached, and her nose felt slightly blocked; it seemed she might be coming down with a cold.
Accompanied by the sound of cracking bones, Rao Jie sat up. Once she took in her surroundings, she finally understood what had happened to her body.
Curled up next to the bookshelf, she had spent the night sleeping on the hard floor while the air conditioning in the room kept running. She was only wearing a short-sleeved shirt and shorts. Now, not only were her limbs stiff but also icy cold.
Having been overly focused on studying for the past few days and feeling exhausted, she must have reached her limit last night and accidentally fallen asleep in an awkward position.
However, Rao Jie distinctly remembered falling asleep while Wu Rong was still working. At that time, her subconscious thought was that no matter whether Wu Rong wanted to order her around or send her back to bed, he would surely wake her up.
So she let herself drift off into slumber.
But she never expected that she would end up sleeping here all night.
Rao Jie turned her head in confusion towards the bed beside her.
The person on the bed was sleeping in an extremely standard position on the soft mattress of the spacious double bed. He lay perfectly centered, not shifting at all, covered by a thin air-conditioned blanket, wearing an eye mask and earplugs—fully armed and sleeping soundly.
In an instant, all of Rao Jie’s thoughts of "logically speaking," "should," and "under normal circumstances" burned away completely.
What was going on? Was it really as she thought? Professor Wu… Wu Rong… how could someone like him exist?
Was he a devil?
Standing by the bed, Rao Jie took a deep breath, her gaze involuntarily fixating on the two pillows beside him. She really wanted to grab one and smother him with it just to silence him for good.
Fortunately, reason held back her impulse. After being angry for a while, Rao Jie ultimately chose to quietly leave the room like a coward and resigned herself to preparing breakfast.
It was only when the two of them were having breakfast together that Rao Jie’s face looked dark.
Wu Rong, showing an unusual interest, asked without a hint of guilt, “What’s wrong? Did you not sleep well last night?”
Rao Jie lifted her sorrowful eyes and said, “Professor Wu, you could have woken me up last night. After all, you don’t like having strangers in the same room as you, right? I was afraid I would pollute your air.”
Wu Rong rarely wore a smile, but this time he did. “It’s fine, I’m used to it.”
Rao Jie’s expression twisted slightly. “But I’m not used to sleeping on the floor, and without a blanket, I might catch a cold.”
How could he let her sleep uncomfortably like this and not wake her up? How much time would it take to wake her? Was it really a waste of his breath?
If he wasn’t going to wake her up, couldn’t he at least show some kindness and give her a blanket? Didn’t he know that sleeping like this was uncomfortable for her and could easily make her sick?
