It was probably the dramatic way Lin Xiaoxia fainted at the sports meet that made her famous.
Her romantic prospects also flourished, with boys constantly asking her out.
Lin Xiaoxia felt a bit overwhelmed; she even suspected that someone had set a trap for her, waiting for her to fall into it so they could mock her.
Moreover, the medical school was almost like a mental institution, where even couples held hands while secretly observing each other. So, she was very cautious because she didn't want to become someone else's joke.
After several rejections, many of her suitors gave up, except for a boy named Li Rui, who persisted and called Lin Xiaoxia every day.
In the end, Lin Xiaoxia couldn't resist his persistence and agreed to go watch a movie with him.
Standing in front of the cinema, Lin Xiaoxia felt a bit dizzy. The huge poster displayed the main characters in tattered clothes, bloodied and bruised. Lin Xiaoxia swallowed hard.
She knew that one of the quickest ways for couples to bond was to watch a horror movie together.
However, when she was nervous, she wouldn't hold someone else's hand tightly; instead, she would grip their wrist and count their pulse. When scared, she wouldn't lean into a boy's embrace but would faint instead. Although after the last incident, her blood phobia had improved significantly.
Li Rui approached with a pile of snacks and soda, smiling broadly. Lin Xiaoxia couldn't bear to disappoint this poor boy and decided to go in with her eyes closed the entire time.
Just as she was about to enter with Li Rui, Lin Xiaoxia was suddenly pulled back and turned to see Zhou Feng with a gloomy expression.
Lin Xiaoxia felt a mix of emotions—anger intertwined with joy. She put on a stern face and asked, "Can't you see I'm on a date?"
Zhou Feng squinted and turned to look at Li Rui, coldly snorting, "You dare think about my woman?"
Li Rui took a step back, puffing out his chest in a show of bravado and said, "Lin Xiaoxia clearly doesn't have a boyfriend; where did you come from?"
Lin Xiaoxia sensed that the situation was not right and whispered to Li Rui, "I am researching the possibility of using traditional Chinese medicine to treat mental illness; he is my test subject."
Li Rui nodded in realization, and his gaze towards Zhou Feng immediately became strange.
Lin Xiaoxia pulled Zhou Feng to a secluded spot and coaxed him, saying, "I just went to see a movie with him."
Zhou Feng scoffed, "I've used that trick of watching horror movies too many times."
A surge of anger welled up in Lin Xiaoxia's heart, and she replied coldly, "Is that so? But we don't use that trick in medical school because watching this is just like attending an anatomy class." With that, she turned to leave.
Zhou Feng suddenly pulled her back, leaned down to hug her, and whispered in her ear, "Let me hold you for a moment, and then I'll go. I won't come here to bother you again."
Lin Xiaoxia felt a twinge of compassion; after all, he had very few opportunities to interact with normal girls.
Moreover, upon reflection, he hadn't really caused her any trouble. Lin Xiaoxia obediently nestled into his embrace.
After a while, Zhou Feng straightened up and looked at her seriously.
His eyes were as deep as obsidian, making Lin Xiaoxia's heart race wildly.
Suddenly, Zhou Feng released her and turned to leave.
As Lin Xiaoxia was abruptly pulled from his embrace, she felt a hint of disappointment.
The movie began, and screams from women echoed in the theater as they clung to the boys beside them.
Li Rui kept glancing at Lin Xiaoxia from the corner of his eye, but she remained still. Her eyes were fixed on the screen while her mind replayed the moment when Zhou Feng had held her.
Suddenly, everyone in the cinema exclaimed, pulling Lin Xiaoxia's thoughts back to reality. It turned out that the movie on the screen had abruptly cut off, replaced by a scene of two people kissing.
The male lead had his back to the camera, while the female lead's face was hidden in the shadow of his tall figure. Under the soft moonlight, the scene was beautiful, accompanied by gentle music that was quite pleasing to the eye.
The girls covered their mouths, blushing and gasping in envy.
Why did that person's back look so familiar? Lin Xiaoxia suddenly had a bad feeling.
As the kiss ended, the girl's face came into view. Lin Xiaoxia's eyes widened as she stared at her own incredibly clear face on the screen, and she stood up abruptly.
The interlude ended, and the screen resumed playing the previous movie.
Lin Xiaoxia could no longer watch; feeling embarrassed, she hurriedly said goodbye to Li Rui and walked back to her dorm with her head down. As she walked, she gritted her teeth and thought about how she had just felt sympathy for him—how could he be so despicable!
The next morning, a video shot with a phone in the cinema appeared on Campus BBS.
Lin Xiaoxia felt extremely frustrated. With such high-definition camera capabilities, why didn't they go pirate something instead of filming this boring stuff?
Her explanation felt weak; she had merely been held by someone, and it looked like a kiss because someone had used a filming technique called "blocking."
Her reputation was completely ruined, and she didn’t even have a chance to defend herself.
