Yanyan's tone grew increasingly agitated. Shen Qingyan wanted to stop her but found herself unable to speak, helplessly watching the tense atmosphere in the hospital room.
"Yanyan!" she called softly, her voice weak and powerless.
Hearing Shen Qingyan's voice, Yanyan realized she had lost her composure. She took a deep breath, trying to suppress the anger within her, and turned to look at her, her tone softening slightly. "Qingyan, don't be afraid. With me here, no one dares to bully you."
Shen Qingyan smiled gratefully at her, but a wave of bitterness rose in her heart. With Yanyan around, she indeed wouldn't be bullied, but some pains were not something others could truly understand.
"Yanyan, calm down. Qingyan and I will handle our matters ourselves," Fu Xieli finally spoke up, his voice deep and calm, revealing no emotion.
"Handle it yourself? How will you handle it? Like the past three years, ignoring her and letting her suffer?" Yanyan scoffed, locking eyes with Fu Xieli as she spoke each word deliberately. "Fu Xieli, I'm laying it out here today. If you really care about Qingyan, show your sincerity and stop making her feel cold!"
Yanyan's words were like a stone thrown into Fu Xieli's calm heart, stirring up waves of complex emotions that he hid behind lowered eyelids.
The room fell into a dead silence, and I felt an overwhelming sense of fatigue as I watched the scene unfold.
"Enough. Everyone stop talking," I said weakly, closing my eyes with a heavy sense of weariness. "Yanyan, I want to rest now. You should go back."
Yanyan seemed to want to say something more but was stopped by a glance from me. She sighed helplessly, walked to the bedside, tucked in the blankets for me gently, and said softly, "Then rest well. Call me if you need anything."
Shen Qingyan nodded and watched as Yanyan left the hospital room.
The door closed again, leaving Shen Qingyan, Fu Xieli, and Lu Wanting in that small space together.
She didn't want to talk anymore, nor did she want to see any of them. Thus, Shen Qingyan turned around, facing away from them, closed her eyes, and pretended to be asleep.
Fu Xieli looked at Shen Qingyan's frail figure, feeling a mix of emotions in his heart. He reached out his hand, wanting to touch her pale cheek, but froze in mid-air, ultimately letting it drop helplessly.
Lu Wanting witnessed this scene and felt a surge of jealousy. Her tone became increasingly sharp and sarcastic: "Xieli, why waste your time on her? She doesn't appreciate it at all."
Fu Xieli ignored Lu Wanting's provocation. He stood up and walked to the window, gazing out at the bustling city, lost in thought. He was not heartless; he was well aware of Shen Qingyan's endurance and grievances. However, family interests and personal ambitions bound him like shackles.
After a long silence, Fu Xieli turned around and approached the hospital bed, trying to bridge the distance with Shen Qingyan: "Qingyan, you haven't fully recovered yet. Rest well; you don't need to worry about the company. I will handle it."
Shen Qingyan did not open her eyes, seemingly asleep, ignoring his words.
Fu Xieli's hand hung awkwardly in the air before he retracted it. He took a deep look at Shen Qingyan before turning and leaving the hospital room.
Outside the room, Father Fu had been waiting for a long time. Dressed in a black suit with a serious expression, he exuded an intimidating presence.
"Your mother has prepared a family dinner at the old residence. Come back with Qingyan the night after tomorrow," Father Fu said in an authoritative tone, clearly issuing a command.
Fu Xieli frowned slightly; he understood his father's intentions. The Shen family was also a prominent family in City A, and the marriage with the Fu Family was meant to create a strong alliance. Now that the Shen Group was in trouble, his father naturally wanted to use this family gathering to demonstrate the Fu Family's support for the Shen family, thereby solidifying their collaborative projects.
"I understand. I will take her back," Fu Xieli said calmly, showing no signs of resistance.
After hanging up the phone, Fu Xieli rubbed his temples, feeling increasingly restless. When he returned to the hospital room, he found that Shen Qingyan was no longer in bed.
