The people of the Stone Oven Kingdom have grown increasingly fond of me, treating me as an honored guest and showing great respect towards me. However, I was puzzled by one thing.
One day, while holding a piece of roasted meat, I asked Xiao Xiao and A Meng, "Can't you smell this aroma?" Xiao Xiao and A Meng shook their heads and replied, "You can only tell if something is delicious after tasting it." I frowned and asked others, but everyone gave the same answer. I thought to myself, could it be that the people here have no sense of smell?
To verify my suspicion, I conducted another experiment. I found a very fragrant flower and held it under everyone's noses, yet they still showed no reaction. I finally confirmed that these people truly lacked a sense of smell. I was astonished; I never imagined such a people could exist.
I approached the king to inquire about this matter. The king sighed and said, "Ah, this is a long story."
"In our history of the Stone Oven Kingdom, there was once a very powerful sorcerer who possessed formidable magic. It is said that he could control the five senses of humans, causing them to lose one of their senses: taste, sight, hearing, smell, or touch."
"At that time, the people of the Stone Oven Kingdom lived in great suffering, fearing that one day they would lose one of their senses."
"Then a brave hero stepped forward, vowing to defeat the sorcerer and save the people of the Stone Oven Kingdom."
"The hero engaged in a fierce battle with the sorcerer and ultimately sealed away the sorcerer's magic at the cost of his own life, saving the people."
"Although the sorcerer was sealed away, his magic remained on this land, causing the people of the Stone Oven Kingdom to lose their sense of smell."
"For so many years, we have lived in a world devoid of scent and flavor. We have tried many ways to restore our sense of smell but have ultimately failed."
"That is why we, the people of the Stone Oven Kingdom, have no reaction to smells."
After hearing the king's account, I was deeply shocked; I never expected such events had occurred in the history of the Stone Oven Kingdom. The king assigned me a task: to prepare a grand feast. I accepted the mission and began organizing everything with great urgency.
I thought to myself that since the citizens of the Stone Oven Kingdom are short in stature, it would be difficult to catch suitable ingredients. It seemed necessary to prepare thoroughly for this task.
They first gathered weapons and bows from the Stone Oven Kingdom, then went to collect fine vines to weave baskets for fishing. Once everything was ready, they set off into the mountains for hunting.
After walking for about half an hour, they entered the heart of a valley. Inside the valley, the grass was tall and the trees were large. Various wildflowers bloomed among the tall grass—red, yellow, blue, purple, and pink—all in vibrant colors, creating a dazzling display like a rainbow in the sky, captivating and delightful to behold.
The valley breeze carried the fragrance of flowers to every corner, refreshing and pleasant, as if they were in a paradise. Everyone's mood instantly brightened; they chatted happily about what prey they might catch.
Suddenly, Da Huang let out a frantic cry, and everyone immediately stopped talking, alertly looking around. Da Huang's cries were urgent as it ran ahead, seemingly having discovered something.
