They walked down the stone platform, and after a short distance, they suddenly heard a strange sound. They stopped and listened carefully.
"Do you hear that? What is that sound?" A-Dai asked quietly.
"It sounds like it's coming from some animal," A Meng replied.
"Could it be a wolf?" Xiao Xiao said fearfully.
"It shouldn't be," I shook my head and said, "That sound doesn't seem like a wolf."
"Then what could it be?" A-Dai asked.
"I don't know," I shook my head again, "Let's go check it out."
They cautiously moved forward, and gradually, the sound became clearer. Finally, they realized it was the barking of a dog.
"It's Da Huang!" A-Dai exclaimed excitedly.
"How did it end up here?" A Meng said in surprise.
"I don't know," I shook my head, "Let's hurry over and see."
They quickly ran in the direction of the sound. They arrived at a dense patch of grass and found Da Huang bouncing around, seemingly in a struggle with something.
" Da Huang!" A-Dai shouted and rushed over.
Upon hearing the voice, Da Huang stopped bouncing, turned around, and ran excitedly towards its owner.
A-Dai crouched down and hugged Da Huang's neck, asking, "How did you get here?"
Da Huang licked A-Dai's hand and let out a joyful howl.
"Look over there! What is that?" A Meng exclaimed, pointing at the grass.
The three of them followed A Meng's finger and saw a huge bird's nest lying in the grass, containing more than a dozen eggs.
These eggs were slightly smaller than chicken eggs, with milky white shells that were translucent and emitted an enticing fragrance.
"They're bird eggs," A-Dai said excitedly.
"Really, it's a bird egg," Xiao Xiao said excitedly.
"We're in for a treat today," A Meng said happily.
"But this bird's nest is so high, how are we going to get it?" A-Dai asked.
"That's simple," I replied, "just watch."
After saying that, I jumped onto the stone platform, hugged the tree trunk, and began to climb.
Although the Ancient Pine was tall, its bark was thick and had many folds, making it easy to climb.
I was agile and quickly reached the side of the bird's nest.
I reached out, grabbed a bird egg, blew on it lightly, and then tossed it down.
"Catch!" I shouted.
A-Dai and the others immediately reached out to catch it, but the egg was too slippery for them to hold onto, and it fell to the ground and shattered.
"Ah, what a pity," A-Dai said regretfully.
"It's okay, there are plenty more here," I said. "Keep going."
I picked up another bird egg and threw it down again.
This time, A-Dai and the others were smarter; instead of trying to catch it directly with their hands, they extended their arms and used their clothes to catch it.
The egg hit their clothes and bounced to the ground; although the shell cracked a bit, it didn't break completely.
"Success!" A-Dai exclaimed excitedly.
They caught several more bird eggs and, once they confirmed they could safely catch them, began frantically emptying the nest.
They took all the bird eggs from the nest and placed them into their bags.
"Big brother, there's a piece of sheepskin here," A Meng suddenly called out.
"What sheepskin?" I asked.
"I don't know, but there's a stone underneath the sheepskin that's green and quite beautiful," A Meng replied.
"Show it to me," I said.
