"What's the point of talking about going back when we've already come halfway?"
Wenbo dared not speak again.
Ji Yan's statement was already quite generous; any further persuasion might provoke his anger.
When Mo Li woke up from the bumpy ride, the vehicle had already ascended a mountain road.
"We're almost there," Ji Yan said, glancing at the charming blush on Mo Li's face.
Mo Li sat up, folded the blanket around her, and handed it to Ji Yan.
"Thank you."
"How should I be thanked?" Ji Yan asked.
He wasn't interested in polite empty words; he wanted something tangible in return.
Mo Li inwardly complained, knowing that Ji Yan wouldn't help her without expecting something in return.
With a faint smile, he said, "I'll treat you all to lunch."
Ji Yan complained unhappily, "That's really boring."
A kiss would be much better.
Mo Li understood his meaning and pretended to be clueless on purpose.
"Isn't that enough? How about I cover today's gas expenses?"
Ji Yan sighed dramatically.
Wenbo let out a laugh, but in a moment of distraction, the car swerved to the side, almost sliding down the slope.
Ji Yan quickly sat up and pulled Mo Li into his arms to protect her.
Wenbo broke out in a cold sweat, rapidly steering the wheel.
What was wrong with him today? How could he make such a mistake?
It was fine if it was just him, but if anything happened to his precious Mo Li, given the current situation, the boss would definitely eat him alive.
The car resumed its steady course on the road, and Wenbo quietly wiped the cold sweat from his forehead.
Focusing intently on the road ahead, he apologized to Ji Yan behind him.
"Boss, I'm sorry. It won't happen again."
To his surprise, Ji Yan was smiling broadly.
"It's fine. Driving on this kind of road is really tough for you. I'll give you an extra bonus this month."
Wenbo was taken aback.
Then he realized that the boss, having failed to receive a kiss, was taking advantage of this mistake to hold the beauty in his arms, feeling quite pleased with himself.
Mo Li blushed as she emerged from Ji Yan's embrace and returned to her original seat.
Ji Yan rested his hand on the back of her seat and said with a smile, "The road conditions are bad; I can let you lean on my shoulder."
Mo Li politely declined.
