Rao Jie could only listen quietly. Once Ye Ming finished, she said, "I'm sorry to trouble you, Director Ye. I couldn't think of any other way at this hour."
Ye Ming looked at Rao Jie and immediately switched to a bright smile. "It's no trouble at all. This kid's matters are my matters too. His family isn't around, so it's up to me! Rao Jie, you need to keep an eye on him from now on and make sure he gets enough rest. He can't let work wear him down; otherwise, his family will think I'm enslaving Wu Rong."
Rao Jie nodded. "I'll be careful from now on."
Ye Ming smiled even more warmly. "Rao Jie is such a good girl for taking care of someone so troublesome. I feel bad asking you for this because I know he can be a bit fierce; you might be a little scared of him. But don't worry—if he really doesn't listen to your reminders, just report directly to me, and I'll handle him."
Rao Jie quickly shook her head. "It's fine... Professor Wu is really a good person."
Ye Ming looked at Rao Jie in surprise. Seeing her expression was sincere rather than just polite made him want to laugh. It was quite brave of her to praise Wu Rong after spending so long with him.
"As long as you don't dislike him, that's good. By the way, when I arrived at your house just now, I noticed your face was a bit red. Are you feeling unwell? If you're not feeling well, we should check it out together now!" Ye Ming said with concern.
Caught off guard by the sudden question, Rao Jie froze for a moment and then remembered why she had been blushing for so long. She unconsciously turned even redder and nervously stammered, "I'm fine; I was just scared by Professor Wu's situation."
Ye Ming hadn't thought much of it initially, but Rao Jie's straightforward and innocent reaction made him ponder further.
However, Ye Ming only glanced at Rao Jie before smiling again and saying, "I've got an eye on him here; you should go back and rest!"
Rao Jie expressed some concern. "But..."
Ye Ming smiled and said, "It's not good for a girl to stay up late. If you're free tomorrow morning, you can come over to switch with me."
After thinking for a moment, Rao Jie nodded in agreement.
As she got up to leave, she heard Ye Ming continue to complain by Wu Rong's bedside, seemingly trying to wake him up.
"Sigh, I've already stopped all your work; that should be enough time! You're doing academic research again—how did you end up like this? Don't you realize that this actually wastes more time? No matter how invested you are, could you please keep some awareness in the real world? Don't immerse yourself completely! I'm really afraid that one day you'll become a math fanatic..."
Hearing these words made Rao Jie's steps feel heavy. Although it wasn't the main reason, she couldn't shake the feeling that Wu Rong falling ill was somehow related to her as well.
From Director Ye's words, it was clear he had no idea that Wu Rong was still tutoring her and wasting his time.
