"Please sit down!" Inside the Entertainment Restaurant, Xia Xiaoyu turned to call for another cup of coffee from the waiter before finally focusing her gaze on him.
"By the way, I heard you are studying at Cherry Blossom University. You should be at school right now. What brings you here?" Xu Qian smiled slightly, his eyes sparkling like diamonds.
"Come on, I just enrolled last Friday. It's only the registration phase, and I have two days off. Classes don't officially start until tomorrow."
Xia Xiaoyu rolled her eyes at the handsome Xu Qian and said slowly.
"Uh!" Xu Qian chuckled awkwardly and then said, "Alright, let's not talk about that. You wouldn't come to see me without a reason, right?"
At Xu Qian's question, Xia Xiaoyu's hand trembled slightly, and she said, "I do need your help with something."
"You need my help?" Xu Qian was taken aback; he remembered that this young lady came from a well-off family. Did she really have something she needed his assistance with?
"Why don't you tell me what it is?" Sensing that Xia Xiaoyu wasn't joking, Xu Qian paused for a moment before speaking slowly.
"I've been having dreams lately," Xia Xiaoyu said softly.
"Dreams?" Xu Qian burst out laughing. "I thought it was something serious. What's so strange about that? Dreaming is just a physical reaction; everyone dreams. There's no need to make a big deal out of it! From a psychological perspective, it's just the nervous system operating normally while the body relaxes during sleep. Places you've frequently visited or unforgettable ones will reflect in your mind when you're relaxed. How should I put it? 'As you think by day, so you will dream by night'—that's how it works!"
"But I haven't been to that place!"
Xia Xiaoyu paused for a moment and then said, "Moreover, I've been having the same dream for an entire week!"
Upon hearing Xia Xiaoyu's words, Xu Qian's expression changed slightly. She looked at her and asked, "You haven't been to this place before, and you say you've been dreaming about it for a week?"
Xia Xiaoyu hesitated as she looked at Xu Qian and nodded.
"It's a long road lined with cherry blossoms, and in the distance, there's a hazy ancient building. I remember there being a red cherry blossom tree. Every time I walk past it, I hear a strange voice calling my name. That voice is terrifying, and then a pair of withered hands reaches out from behind me. Every time I get to that part, I wake up in fright."
...
After listening to Xia Xiaoyu's description, Xu Qian fell silent for a moment before asking, "Have you been to any unfamiliar places or experienced anything frightening?"
"What places could I go to? I stay at home every day and only enrolled in school. I told you that I'm asking you, as a psychologist, to help me with this problem. Can you see if it's a psychological reaction or if there's some symptom?" Xia Xiaoyu asked impatiently.
"Strange," Xu Qian said, slightly furrowing her brows. She continued to ask, "Tell me, have you encountered any unusual events?"
"Unusual events?" Xia Xiaoyu was even more puzzled and shook her head. "No, how could I possibly encounter anything unusual?"
"You don't mean to tell me that I've been possessed by some evil spirit, do you?" Xia Xiaoyu asked in confusion.
...
Xu Qian sat in silence, not speaking, lost in thought.
"You are a psychologist, what do you think? Is there any way to help?" Xia Xiaoyu asked after noticing Xu Qian's silence, pausing for a moment before inquiring again.
"Xiaoyu, can I ask you a question?" Xu Qian lifted her head, looked seriously at Xia Xiaoyu, and said softly.
"What question? Why so mysterious?" The seriousness on Xu Qian's face did not escape Xia Xiaoyu's keen observation, and she responded with a question.
Xu Qian did not answer immediately. Instead, she leaned in closer and glanced around to see if anyone was watching them. Finally, she focused her gaze on Xia Xiaoyu and whispered very seriously, "Do you believe there are ghosts in this world?"
