Rao Jie felt a bit moved. "Professor Wu, I'm really sorry. I didn't realize your schedule was so tight, and I asked you to tutor me. I truly apologize. I've thought it over, and once you're done with this busy period, I'll trouble you again. After all, I still have time, and you've already taught me a lot. I'll first digest and consolidate what I've learned, collecting the questions I got wrong. When you're free again, I'll ask you all at once. How does that sound?"
Wu Rong was taken aback and murmured, "Actually, it didn't take up much of my time."
Rao Jie smiled and replied, "Any amount of time is still time spent. My exam is still a ways off, so I'll work hard on my own and won't cause you any trouble later on."
Her smile was beautiful, filled with sincerity.
Since she was considering others so much, Wu Rong decided not to insist otherwise and nodded in agreement. If necessary, he could always give her a bit more time for tutoring later.
After Wu Rong was discharged from the hospital, he paused the tutoring sessions while Rao Jie continued with her usual routine. However, there was one thing that made Rao Jie uncomfortable.
As soon as Wu Rong was out of the hospital, he asked her for the cake from that night. She could only comply, initially thinking she could brush him off since the taste she had that evening was indeed from that cake.
But Wu Rong kept insisting that it felt different and urged her to try making it again.
Rao Jie could only say that her skills weren't up to par and that the results were inconsistent since she wasn't a professional pastry chef. In the end, Wu Rong had no choice but to give up on finding that taste from his memory.
On the other hand, without Wu Rong's guidance, Rao Jie found herself sinking deeper into the abyss of mathematics. The problems she couldn't understand seemed endless; no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't solve them or even comprehend the answers.
Rao Jie had to carry her Error Collection with her at all times. She couldn't disturb Wu Rong but could seek help from classmates or teachers during class. Unfortunately, there were only a few students in class who were strong in math.
Aside from Jiang Chuchu, others were unable to assist for various reasons. When she tried to ask teachers for help, they vanished as soon as class ended.
Feeling helpless, Rao Jie had no choice but to tackle the challenges on her own.
Today, Wu Rong came to school as well, so Rao Jie decided not to rush home and arranged to ride back with him later.
Since the hospital incident, Wu Rong has been treating Rao Jie better and better, though this 'better' does not refer to a gentle demeanor. It means that he thinks of her in everything and takes care of her, something Rao Jie had never dared to imagine before.
Rao Jie sighed, realizing that people really need to interact with each other.
Since she had some free time after class, Rao Jie went to the study room to tackle some difficult problems. While she was struggling with a challenging question, a clear and warm voice suddenly came from beside her, "You've fallen into a misunderstanding with this problem; X is not calculated that way."
Rao Jie looked at the hand that had suddenly appeared next to her. The hand was long and the nails were neatly trimmed and clean.
Following the hand up, Rao Jie slowly widened her eyes as she looked at the person sitting next to her. The person who had just been sitting next door seemed... not to be this one?
The newcomer smiled, a refreshing and natural smile that conveyed a sense of familiarity. "Junior Sister, it's been a while since we last met. Do you remember me?"
"Senior Long Yong?" Rao Jie looked at the newcomer in surprise.
How could she not recognize him? He was the handsome school idol! A legendary figure who had been the talk of the campus for several consecutive years!
Although she called him senior, they were not in the same department. Rao Jie remembered that Long Yong was studying mathematics and was currently pursuing his graduate studies at their university.
