"We need to find a way to take it down!"
"How do we do that?"
"Chop off its head!"
"Alright!"
A Meng stopped in his tracks, suddenly turned around, and swung the Black Gold Blade at the giant turtle's head.
The giant turtle reacted slowly and couldn't dodge in time.
With a muffled "thud," the Black Gold Blade embedded deeply into the turtle's neck.
The giant turtle struggled in pain for a moment before crashing to the ground.
A Meng pulled back his blade and delivered a few more strikes, severing the turtle's head from its body.
"That's what you get for chasing me!" A Meng cursed, "Damn it, you scared the life out of me!"
Xiao Xiao walked over, crouched down, and carefully examined the turtle's corpse.
He noticed a bulge beneath the turtle, as if something was stuck inside.
He reached out and poked it; the object felt soft and seemed to be moving.
"What is this?" Xiao Xiao wondered.
He took out his small knife and cut open the bulging skin.
Then he was stunned.
"Oh my, it's a big snake!"
Inside that bulging sac lay a large snake as thick as a bowl!
The snake was pure white, its scales shimmering coldly, and its tongue flickered like flames.
It was staring at Xiao Xiao with cold eyes, as if it intended to swallow him whole.
"Be careful!" I shouted.
Xiao Xiao quickly stepped back, and at the same time, A Meng swung the Black Gold Blade at the snake.
The snake was sliced in two but continued to thrash on the ground, trying to attack us.
"Kill it!" A Meng shouted.
We charged forward, using slingshots to shoot at the giant snake's head and the Black Gold Blade to slash at its body. After an intense battle, the snake finally lay still.
Exhausted, we sat by the campfire, staring at the snake's corpse, still feeling a sense of dread.
"I never expected there would be such dangerous creatures in these mountains," A Meng said, wiping the sweat from his forehead.
"Yeah, it almost ate us just now," Xiao Xiao lamented.
I looked around and asked, "Do you think there are other monsters in these mountains?"
A Meng and Xiao Xiao exchanged glances, their expressions turning serious.
"I don't know, but we need to be careful," A Meng replied.
"Let's call it a day; we're too tired. We should head back and rest, then look for a way tomorrow," Xiao Xiao suggested.
"Okay," I nodded.
After a simple dinner, we crawled into the treehouse to sleep. To prevent wild animal attacks, we used the giant turtle shell to block the entrance as a door.
The night passed without incident.
Once we finished packing up, we pushed aside the turtle shell and stepped out of the tree hollow, finally able to examine the giant turtle shell closely.
The shell was about the length of a person, with a raised center and slightly curved edges. It was covered in diamond-shaped patterns that gave it an ancient and weathered appearance.
We speculated that this turtle might have lived for hundreds of years and could even have ascended to a higher realm.
"We need to take this turtle shell with us," A Meng said.
"Why should we?" Xiao Xiao complained. "Carrying it would be a burden."
"I'll carry it; you don't have to," A Meng said as he lifted the shell onto his back.
"You..." Xiao Xiao rolled her eyes in frustration.
"From now on, you're our new member," I said, patting the turtle shell. "Welcome aboard."
"What should we name it?" A Meng asked.
"Let's call it Divine Turtle Ameng," I said.
"Divine Turtle Ameng..." A Meng murmured it a few times, nodding in satisfaction. "Good, I like this name."
Thus, the team of four gained another member, Divine Turtle Ameng.
