After finishing my grooming, I changed into a splendid palace outfit and adorned myself with jewelry. Looking at my reflection in the mirror, I felt refreshed and invigorated.
"Are you ready?" Fu Bo walked in.
"Yes," I nodded.
Fu Bo approached me and looked me up and down.
"My Mu He is truly beautiful," he said with a smile.
I felt my cheeks flush slightly. "Thank you."
"Let's go, we will enter the palace together," Fu Bo said.
"Okay," I nodded.
Fu Bo is my husband, and he is the heir of the Fu family, so he also needs to attend the court banquet.
We both got into the carriage, which slowly started moving towards the imperial palace.
Throughout the journey, I pondered what would happen today. The court banquet is a very grand event, attended by all the nobles. I would also see many familiar faces.
Thinking of this made me feel excited.
"Are you nervous?" Fu Bo asked softly as he held my hand.
"A little," I nodded.
"Don't worry, I'm here with you," Fu Bo reassured me.
"Mm," I smiled.
The carriage continued on its way until we finally arrived at the imperial palace.
We got out of the carriage and walked towards the palace gate.
At the entrance stood many guards who checked our invitation before allowing us to enter.
Passing through a long corridor, we arrived at a magnificent palace.
At the entrance of the palace stood many palace maids and eunuchs, who respectfully welcomed us.
As Fu Bo and I entered the palace, we immediately attracted everyone's attention.
After all, the Fu family is an established noble family in the capital with a very high status.
People began to whisper among themselves, many casting curious glances our way.
I calmly accepted their scrutiny and followed Fu Bo to our seats.
I sat up straight, focusing intently on the front.
First to appear were several princesses, dressed in luxurious garments and adorned with precious jewels, exuding an air of nobility. They danced and sang, showcasing their talents. I observed them closely, noting their strengths and weaknesses.
Once they finished their performance, it was time for the noble young ladies to take the stage. These young ladies had been carefully selected; not only were they stunningly beautiful, but they also possessed extraordinary skills. Some were charming, others pure; some were elegant, while others were cute, leaving the audience dazzled.
Among them, I spotted a familiar face. That was the Third Miss of the Li Family, skilled in playing the piano. Next was the Fifth Miss of the Zhang Family, talented in painting. Then there was the Seventh Miss of the Zhao Family, known for her dancing. They had all once been renowned in noble circles and were pursued by countless young gentlemen.
I quietly appreciated their performances, my heart calm and undisturbed. To me, they were merely familiar strangers. After their performances concluded, it was my turn.
I stood up and walked toward the stage. The stage was covered in flowers, their fragrance filling the air. Standing in the center of the stage, I looked out at the crowd below. Everyone was watching me, their expressions a mix of curiosity, surprise, admiration, and disdain.
I ignored their gazes, took a deep breath, and began to dance. My movements were light and beautiful, like that of a fairy. Applause and cheers erupted from the audience as I heard their praises.
"She dances so beautifully!"
"Who is she?"
"She is Young Lady Lin Muhe of the Fu Family."
"So she is Lin Muhe."
"She is even more beautiful than the legends say."
After I finished dancing, I bowed to the audience and then stepped back. Next, some noble young ladies took the stage to perform. After the banquet ended, I took a carriage home with Fu Bo.
In the carriage, Fu Bo kept looking at me with a smile on his face. I felt shy under his gaze and asked, "Why are you looking at me like that?"
"Because you're beautiful," Fu Bo replied with a smile.
My cheeks flushed slightly, "You're just flattering me."
"I'm speaking the truth," Fu Bo laughed. "You were absolutely stunning while dancing just now."
"Really?" I blinked. "Did I charm you?"
"Of course," Fu Bo nodded. "I've been enchanted by you; others are even more so."
"Are you trying to comfort me?" I looked at Fu Bo. "I actually don't need to care about what others think."
"No, I'm serious," Fu Bo shook his head. "You really are beautiful, and your dance was wonderful."
"Is that true?"
"Absolutely," Fu Bo nodded again.
I smiled, feeling reassured. "Then I'm relieved."
That evening, we returned to our room.
"You've worked hard lately," Fu Bo said.
"My mother has been getting along better with my father recently; she's very happy."
"Thank you!" he said with deep affection in his eyes.
"It's no trouble; you don't need to thank me," I shook my head. "I feel very happy."
"So do I," Fu Bo replied with a smile.
I nestled in his arms and softly said, "Fu Bo, I feel so happy."
"Me too," Fu Bo held me tightly.
