Without a moment's thought, Rao Jie began to pack her things. As she watched Wu Rong turn and leave without hesitation, her hands fumbled in a flurry. It wasn't until she pulled out the chair to leave that she remembered the person beside her.
"Um, senior, I'm really sorry, but I have something urgent to attend to. I'll get back to you later. I truly appreciate your help today," she said hurriedly.
Long Yong snapped back to reality from his surprise at seeing Wu Rong. Noticing Rao Jie’s urgency, he quickly responded with an acknowledgment.
Once Rao Jie finished speaking, she rushed out without a second glance at the two people she passed by, let alone stopping to explain anything. With the female lead gone, there was no longer any scene to perform.
Long Yong gave a cold smirk at the two people left by the door before picking up his books and turning to leave as well, leaving behind two individuals with complicated feelings.
“Bao Ming, why did you just…” Jiang Chuchu asked, her voice tinged with grievance. Bao Ming had no answer to offer and could only leave in frustration.
The incident that occurred in the study room quickly spread throughout the campus. After all, the main characters involved were prominent figures like Long Yong and the mysterious returning professor Wu Rong, even if Wu Rong had merely played a supporting role in this particular scene.
However, no one was gossiping about Wu Rong and Rao Jie; instead, they were buzzing about how Rao Jie had managed to shake off a cheating boyfriend and attract a campus heartthrob. It was truly a case of old love gone and new love arrived.
Yet for someone like Rao Jie, who was deeply engrossed in her studies and kept away from campus life, there was little chance to indulge in such gossip.
Now, sitting perplexed in Wu Rong's car, Rao Jie pondered what might have upset Professor Wu. It felt as if there was an unspoken tension simmering within the vehicle.
Having become increasingly alert around Wu Rong's temper, Rao Jie spoke up cautiously. “Professor Wu, I’m sorry; I didn’t notice my phone earlier.” No matter what, it was best to apologize proactively.
Wu Rong responded with a casual "mm."
Previously at school, Wu Rong finished discussing matters with Ye Ming and went to the library to look for information. He happened to see Rao Jie in the study room, deep in thought as she leaned over her Error Collection. Wu Rong couldn't help but smile slightly, though it felt a bit unnatural.
He thought to himself that he would finish his tasks quickly and then tutor her properly later. With that in mind, Wu Rong decided to find the materials first and then come back to leave with Rao Jie.
However, when he returned, he was taken aback by a close scene: a male student was sitting beside Rao Jie, smiling as he explained math problems to her. Rao Jie seemed to be listening intently, nodding seriously.
Wu Rong couldn't help but stop in his tracks, slowly furrowing his brows. After watching for a while, he felt increasingly uncomfortable and a sense of impatience rose within him.
Not wanting to dwell on this strange feeling, Wu Rong took out his phone and sent a message to Rao Jie. To his surprise, she was so focused that she didn't even notice her phone!
Why wasn't she this attentive when he was explaining problems to her? Was that guy better at teaching than he was?
Wu Rong felt a lump in his throat and was about to leave in anger when he noticed Rao Jie's ex-boyfriend making an appearance. Seeing Rao Jie looking trapped in the situation… he couldn't hold back and decided to step in.
"Was that guy just explaining problems to you?" Wu Rong's voice was light, as if he were just making casual conversation.
Rao Jie, not understanding his intent, replied earnestly, "Yes, he saw that I didn't understand, so he came over to explain."
