Cheng Cheng followed closely behind me until we reached my car.
"Banxia, don't go," he blocked my way. "I finally found you."
I frowned and said impatiently, "Cheng Cheng, what do you want?"
"Banxia, I love you." He grabbed my hand. "Please give me another chance."
I shook his hand off forcefully. "Cheng Cheng, are you annoying? I told you I don't like you anymore. Can't you understand?"
Cheng Cheng still wanted to cling to me, and in my anger, I thought about smashing my phone against him. But when I turned around, I saw Shen Linxi.
He stood not far away, dressed in a black tailored suit paired with a black coat, looking both noble and handsome.
It was as if he radiated light; everyone present was captivated by his presence.
"Oh my gosh, he's so handsome!"
"Who is this guy? I've never seen him before."
"Is he a celebrity? Is he filming something..."
My friends excitedly pinched my arm, repeatedly asking if I knew who he was.
I stared at Shen Linxi, feeling a bit dizzy.
I smiled gently and told them, "Oh, he's my boyfriend."
My friends all showed expressions of envy.
Shen Linxi walked through the crowd towards me.
He reached out his hand to me. "Jiang Banxia, come here."
I looked at his long, jade-like hand; it felt warm against my skin, making my face flush as if I had a fever.
I walked over, and he took my hand and pulled me into his embrace.
The familiar scent of fresh wood enveloped me, and I couldn't help but hug him back and look up at him.
"You came."
"Yeah."
"Am I still not able to see you often?"
"Yeah."
"Do you still look at my photos often?"
"Every day."
"Why didn't you come earlier?"
"I didn't want you to suffer any grievances."
I blinked and was about to ask him what he meant when he leaned down and kissed me.
It turned out that during this past year, Shen Linxi had been fighting against the Shen Family and the Gu family.
He knew that his only chance lay in the love of his family for him, and they finally couldn't resist his persistence and chose to compromise.
On the day he came to find me, Mrs. Shen asked him, "Do you really have to have her?"
Shen Linxi hugged her, just like a mischievous son would hug his mother. He said, "Mom, do you really have to have Dad?"
Mrs. Shen was taken aback and then tears began to flow. She had loved Mr. Gu all her life; out of love for him, she married him, and for love, she gave birth to Shen Linxi. She tolerated everything about him because of that love. This was a question she often asked Mr. Gu, and she never expected Shen Linxi would use it to ask her.
Mrs. Shen cried harder, while Shen Linxi smiled and held her close. "Mom, just consider it as fulfilling my wish; I only like her for my entire life."
Mrs. Shen cried even more fiercely. After a long while, she patted Shen Linxi's shoulder and said, "Alright, alright, who told me to give birth to you?"
Thus, Shen Linxi reached a compromise with the Shen family, and he could finally be with me.
Shen Linxi had a house in London, and when he took me back that day, the house had been newly renovated. Outside the master bedroom window was a small garden filled with blooming flowers and lush greenery. The night breeze was gentle, and the moonlight poured in, creating a warm and romantic atmosphere.
After taking a shower, Shen Linxi came out wearing casual clothes and went to the terrace. I walked up behind him and sat on his lap.
Today I wore that shortened skirt again, my long legs exposed and glistening honey-colored in the night. I thought again of the Mirage; in the vast desert, it stood atop a cliff—high and unreachable yet captivating, making one unable to resist wanting to get closer.
Shen Linxi was only wrapped in a towel, the view beneath it teasingly visible, stirring my imagination.
I recalled a line of poetry:
"Enter my door of longing and know my heart's pain.
Longing for you brings endless memories; brief longing has no end.
Had I known such entanglements would pierce the heart,
It would have been better not to have met at all."
But it was already too late.
His hand rested on my lower back; with a gentle pressure, I fell into his embrace.
"Now that you're in my arms, there's no need to look at photos anymore."
"Mm," I replied softly.
I knew what would happen next, but I still felt a bit scared.
Shen Linxi's lips descended upon mine this time with an assertive force.
"It hurts..." I couldn't help but cry out.
Shen Linxi ignored me; I hit him playfully, but he still didn't respond.
It wasn't until the third night that I seemed to start enjoying it.
Shen Linxi asked me, "Do you like it?"
I nodded randomly beneath him.
"Will it be like this every day from now on?"
"Yeah."
Shen Linxi let me straddle his waist.
This time, I was only wearing that school uniform skirt.
He really is a madman.
His behavior can only be described as insane.
I don't know how long it passed, but outside the window, the sky changed from pitch black to deep blue, from deep blue to ink blue, and from ink blue to light blue.
The light blue was dotted with a few stars, like tiny diamonds scattered across a deep blue curtain.
Shen Linxi finally released me.
He held me and kissed me, saying, "You seem to really like it."
"Yeah."
"Why do you like it?"
"It's like drinking; the wine is sweet, and it makes you drunk."
Shen Linxi laughed, "So you're a drunkard."
"You are too."
"Yeah, I am."
"When did you start liking me?"
"On the first day of transferring schools."
"Why do you like me?"
"I don't know; it feels familiar, like I've known you in a past life."
"I don't want a next life," I said as I hugged Shen Linxi. "I only want this life."
"Okay." Shen Linxi kissed my forehead. "We only need this life."
I smiled and then closed my eyes in his embrace.
I finally waited for this day, at the best age, meeting the best you.
