"Well... have you really understood it? It's not easy to grasp the deeper meaning rather than just knowing how to do it," Wu Rong's words were clearly laced with sarcasm.
Rao Jie, feeling inexplicably mocked, replied, "Senior is really impressive; I understood everything he said... ah!"
It was no wonder Rao Jie exclaimed, as Wu Rong had taken such a sharp turn in conversation that it nearly threw her off balance. She quickly grabbed onto the handrail beside her.
"Is that so? Very impressive?" Wu Rong said casually.
Still unaware of the underlying tension, Rao Jie responded, "Yes... yes, you must have taken his class before. I remember he is a graduate student from the Mathematics Department, and he seems to be quite accomplished academically in his cohort; he's well-known at school."
Wu Rong paused for a moment, "Who?"
"His name is Long Yong; do you remember him?" Rao Jie asked.
Only then did Wu Rong realize why the person looked familiar; he was indeed the class representative of that special lecture class, and he... was quite good.
"Are you close? Then why didn't you ask him for tutoring back then?" Wu Rong couldn't help but inquire.
Rao Jie blinked, wondering if Wu Rong thought it would be troublesome to tutor her, which made her instinctively ask this question upon seeing someone who could teach her.
Rao Jie's tone unexpectedly turned somber, "We weren't familiar at all before; today was just a coincidence."
"Oh? Is that so?" Wu Rong replied ambiguously and fell silent.
Rao Jie felt unsettled; she was a bit sensitive—what did Wu Rong really mean by that?

In the evening, Rao Jie continued to assist Wu Rong, though her mind was somewhat chaotic.
When there were no tasks assigned, she casually checked the time on her phone and noticed a WeChat notification in the status bar.
Upon opening it, she saw two friend request notifications.
One was from Long Yong and the other from Bao Ming.
With both requests pending acceptance, Rao Jie directly deleted Bao Ming's request and clicked 'accept' on Long Yong's.
Senior Long Yong: [This is Long Yong]
Senior Long Yong: "You said we would get in touch later, but you don't even have my contact information. How can we connect? Do you think my Tiramisu is trying to avoid payment?"
Rao Jie quickly sent an apologetic emoji: "Hello, Senior. I was in such a hurry that I forgot."
Senior Long Yong: "Fortunately, your Old President is my roommate. By the way, the person who called you to leave just now... seems to be our department's Professor Wu. Do you know him?"
Rao Jie: "He is my friend's brother."
Rao Jie didn't provide any further explanation, fearing it might lead to misunderstandings.
Long Yong didn't press further: "Don't take today's incident to heart. Have you reviewed what I taught you after going back?"
Rao Jie: "Yes, thank you so much for your help today. I'm really sorry that you had to face such an awkward situation and be misunderstood."
Senior Long Yong: "It's okay; it's my honor to help you. Just don't blame me for making that person uncomfortable in public by bringing up your past. So, is our deal of exchanging teaching for desserts still on?"
At this, Rao Jie paused for quite a while, unsure how to respond because she felt something was off; Long Yong seemed overly attentive towards her, and they weren't that familiar...
"Hey!"
Suddenly a voice interrupted her thoughts. Rao Jie jumped and turned around to see Wu Rong sitting in a chair, looking at her with a dark expression.
Rao Jie quickly stood up, "Professor Wu... what do you want?"
