My future partner is going to give me a kidney transplant for another woman!
As I was munching on an apple, Chen Siqi stood in front of me, looking all mysterious, and told me this.
I took a bite of the apple, the crunch echoing in the air, and asked her, "Are you sure?"
She replied earnestly, "I'm sure."
I shook my head. "I don't believe it."
She grew anxious. "Why don't you believe me? I'm telling you this for your own good, so you can prepare yourself. You..."
I interrupted her, "Then I'll prepare by avoiding him for two years. By the time he falls in love with me, he won't be giving his kidney to another woman."
Chen Siqi looked at me as if I were an idiot. "You're hopeless."
With that, she turned and walked away.
I continued to eat my apple.
In fact, Chen Siqi had told me this over a year ago, and during this time, I often thought about it. Each time I did, a chill ran down my spine, and I felt terrified.
Yet, I still chose not to believe it.
Because Qian Fan was too good to me. So good that I believed even if the whole world wanted to harm me, he wouldn't.
We had made plans to go out for dinner, but after Chen Siqi's outburst, I felt uneasy.
When it came time to order, I ended up choosing a table full of vegetarian dishes.
Qian Fan looked up at me and asked, "Are you on a monk's diet?"
I shook my head. "I'm trying to lose weight."
He laughed. "You're too thin as it is; you don't need to lose weight. Eat more meat."
As he pushed the beef in front of me, I suddenly recalled Chen Siqi's words and lost my appetite.
After hesitating for a while, I finally spoke up: "Qian Fan, do you know anyone with kidney issues?"
Qian Fan was taken aback for a moment, then burst into laughter. "Li Zixuan, you're really funny. Why did you suddenly think to ask this?"
He laughed so heartily that it made me feel like he didn't take my words seriously at all.
I asked again, "Do you know anyone with kidney problems?"
He continued to laugh, shaking his head. "Li Zixuan, don't tell me you're planning to donate one to me. I don't want just one; I want two."
He thought he was being humorous, but I couldn't find anything funny about it.
I stared at him for a long time before finally making up my mind.
"Qian Fan, let's break up."
His smile froze on his face, and after a while, he asked me, "Why?"
"It's nothing; I just feel like we're not suited for each other."
"Oh."
He responded with a single word and lowered his head to start eating.
I thought he would try to keep me from leaving, but he didn't.
I looked at him, and he looked back at me. He spoke up, "Shall we break up after dinner?"
I nodded.
"Okay."
During the meal, I found it tasteless while he ate heartily.
Before leaving, he turned back to glance at me several times.
Seeing the reluctance in his eyes made me think that he still loved me, which filled my heart with comfort.
However, when I went to pay the bill, I discovered he had already left.
He just walked away?
What a scumbag!
Fuming, I exited the restaurant when my phone rang.
It was my future mother-in-law, Aunt Qian, Qian Fan's mom.
"Zixuan, I heard you broke up with Qian Fan. Why?" Aunt Qian asked, the sound of mahjong clattering in the background.
I twitched my lips. I had planned to visit her and discuss this matter properly, but I didn't expect her to be so well-informed.
Looking at the streetlights, I thought for a moment and replied, "Aunt Qian, it's my fault for not being good enough. Please don't blame Qian Fan."
I couldn't tell Aunt Qian the truth; she has high blood pressure, and I feared she wouldn't handle it well if she knew.
As soon as Aunt Qian heard this, she exploded, "I knew it was Qian Fan's problem! Zixuan, just wait. I'll make him kneel before you and apologize!"
