Rao Jie opened her mouth, feeling inexplicably scared of Wu Rong at that moment, even though she didn't think she had done anything wrong. Why had Wu Rong suddenly become so fierce?
"Um... I've already mastered all the questions I got wrong; a senior helped me explain them before," Rao Jie replied honestly. She meant that there was no need for Wu Rong to waste any more time.
Wu Rong was unaware of how heavy his dark circles were; they had become so pronounced that they diminished his handsomeness. He had just recovered from a high fever and was getting less than four hours of sleep each day. If he had time to explain questions to her, he would rather sleep.
However, the originally kind-hearted Rao Jie did not expect that as soon as her words fell, Wu Rong stood up as if he had been provoked.
"Are you planning to change tutors?" Wu Rong's tone was sharp, as if he were questioning a criminal with a knife.
Rao Jie was confused and felt the tension in the air, making it hard for her to read Wu Rong's mood. Yet, she indeed needed to tell him about this matter.
Rao Jie timidly nodded and stammered, "I... I was planning to find a time to tell you that the senior wants to help me..."
Before Rao Jie could finish her sentence, Wu Rong angrily strode over to her.
Startled, Rao Jie instinctively took a step back and leaned against the edge of the table, reaching out to steady herself to avoid falling. When she regained her composure, Wu Rong was already right in front of her.
"Do you think I'm less capable of teaching math than someone who hasn't even graduated?"
"Ah?" Rao Jie looked completely bewildered.
"Or do you think I'm too fierce? Am I scaring you?" Wu Rong's expression was grim; he was genuinely angry.
Rao Jie felt overwhelmed and had no idea what was happening. "You... you... aren't you supposed to be working? I’m afraid of wasting your time."
"The report is basically finished; it's just a matter of these two days. How could that waste my time?"
Rao Jie was so flustered that she began to stutter. "No... that's not what I meant. It's just that you have work and research; even if it's not as hectic as before, you're still busy. But the senior is mostly free except for occasional classes, so I thought it would be less trouble for you."
Wu Rong stiffened his neck and huffed, "Who told you graduate students are free?"
"What?" Rao Jie was confused.
Wu Rong didn't want to mention Long Yong; he lifted his gaze and stared directly at Rao Jie. "Do you realize that your behavior implies you look down on me? You think I can't teach you? If you think so little of my abilities, why did you ask me in the first place?"
Rao Jie felt wronged! How did things turn out like this? Could it be that because she chose the senior as her tutor, Professor Wu felt his abilities were being undermined?
God! Was he an adult? Was he really quarreling with his student over this?
This was too... sensitive and immature!
"I... I really didn't mean it like that! I just didn't want to waste your time. Ah... um... you're the teacher who guides seniors; your level must be much higher than his. If... if under the same conditions, I would definitely choose you over him!"
Rao Jie had lost her ability to reason with people; facing this terrifying yet childish big boss, she unhesitatingly chose to flatter him quickly to extinguish the volcano.
Upon hearing this, Wu Rong gradually reined in the anger on his face, his brows relaxing and the corners of his mouth slightly lifting, but he immediately suppressed it again.
