Du Ming suddenly turned his head, his gaze fixed intensely on the leader of the Nightingales, his tone chilling: "I don't care about your rules or any dangers! I just want her to live!"
The leader of the Nightingales was clearly intimidated by Du Ming's presence. He opened his mouth as if to say something, but in the end, he said nothing, only wearily waved his hand, signaling his subordinates to take me away.
I was brought to a secret room. In the dim light, I could feel several probing gazes on me. The room was filled with a faint medicinal scent, yet it couldn't mask the tense atmosphere in the air.
Du Ming quickly walked to my side, gripping my hand tightly; the warmth of his palm brought me a sense of reassurance. He turned to the leader of the Nightingales and asked urgently, "Have you found the Dragon's Spittle Grass?"
The leader of the Nightingales shook his head. Before he could speak further, Du Ming suddenly stood up, grabbing him by the collar and gritting his teeth as he said, "I don't care what methods you use; even if you have to turn the entire Cultivation World upside down, you must find the Dragon's Spittle Grass for me!"
The leader of the Nightingales was startled by Du Ming's ferocity. He took a deep breath to suppress his dissatisfaction and said in a deep voice, "The Dragon's Spittle Grass is a rare find that occurs once in a millennium. Even if we exert all our efforts, it may not be..."
Before he could finish, Du Ming interrupted him harshly: "I only want results, not excuses!"
I looked at Du Ming with mixed emotions. I knew he was willing to do anything to save me.
After the leader of the Nightingales left, it was just Du Ming and me in the secret room. He sat on the edge of the bed, silently holding my hand, his eyes filled with worry and guilt.
"I'm fine," I said softly as I held his hand back. "You don't need to worry too much."
Du Ming shook his head, his voice low: "It's all my fault. If it weren't for me, you wouldn't..."
I interrupted him: "This isn't your fault; no one expected this to happen."
I knew he was blaming himself for not protecting me. But no one wanted this situation to occur.
We were silent for a moment when Du Ming suddenly lifted his head and said firmly: "Lingxi, don't worry. I will definitely heal your wounds and make those who harmed you pay!"
Seeing the anger in his eyes warmed my heart, and I nodded.
Just then, the leader of the Nightingales returned unexpectedly, a hint of joy on his face: "Young Master, we have found Miss Bai's whereabouts!"
Du Ming jumped up eagerly and asked, "Where is she?"
The leader of the Nightingales handed over a note with an address written on it: "Miss Bai is being held in a secret warehouse; we have already sent people to confirm it."
Du Ming took the note and glanced at the address before grabbing my hand and saying, "Let's go save her!"
I nodded and followed him out of the secret room. I knew a great battle was about to begin.
To ensure everything went smoothly, Du Ming and I carefully studied the warehouse's layout and devised a thorough plan. Du Ming would attract the enemy's attention while I infiltrated the warehouse to locate Bai Wei.
Once everything was ready, we set off for the secret warehouse. Upon arrival, Du Ming created chaos according to plan to draw the guards' attention. Seizing this opportunity, I slipped into the warehouse and quickly found Bai Wei's holding room based on information provided by the Nightingales.
I cautiously opened the door; Bai Wei was curled up helplessly in a corner. Upon seeing me, hope ignited in her eyes. I quickly untied her ropes and whispered, "Don't be afraid; I'm here."
Bai Wei hugged me excitedly with tears in her voice: "Lingxi, I knew you would come to save me!" I gently patted her back and reassured her: "It's okay now; it's okay."
We safely evacuated with Bai Wei from the warehouse and met up with Du Ming before hastily returning to the Du Family Old Residence. Du Ming decided that at the family gathering three days later, he would expose his uncle's true nature in front of everyone from the Du Family.
Three days later, the Du Family Old Residence was brightly lit, and family members gathered together. Du Ming's Uncle sat at the head of the table, wearing a hypocritical smile, as if everything was under his control. Du Ming and I walked into the hall side by side, and all eyes were focused on us.
“Everyone,” Du Ming's voice echoed in the spacious hall, “today, I want to reveal a truth, a truth about a conspiracy within our family!”
As soon as Du Ming finished speaking, the hall erupted in an uproar. His uncle's expression changed dramatically; he suddenly stood up and pointed at Du Ming, angrily shouting, “Du Ming, are you crazy? What nonsense are you talking about?”
Du Ming let out a cold laugh and calmly took out a voice recorder from his pocket, pressing the play button. The recorder played back the conversation between his uncle and representatives of a mysterious organization, every word clear and undeniable.
As the recording played, the atmosphere in the hall grew increasingly tense. Sweat beads formed on Du Ming's Uncle's forehead; he tried to stop the playback but was blocked by a bodyguard standing next to Du Ming.
When the recording finished, there was silence in the hall. Du Ming's Father turned pale and trembled as he asked, “Is this true?”
Du Ming's Uncle slumped helplessly in his chair; he knew it was all over. Du Ming's Father took a deep breath, slowly stood up, walked over to Du Ming, and said solemnly, “Du Ming, I apologize for my previous actions. From today onward, I will fully support you and stand with you against the dark forces within our family.”
Watching this scene unfold before me filled my heart with emotion. Justice had finally triumphed over evil; light had dispelled darkness. Du Ming and I would stand together to embrace our future.
