The blood-red warning letter hung over my heart like a sharp blade, refusing to fade away. Du Ming held my hand tightly, his gaze resolute. "Lingxi, we can't just sit back and wait; we need to confront this head-on!" 0

I took a deep breath and nodded. We decided to publicly investigate the matter and hired a professional security team to strengthen the protection measures around the villa. Du Ming even mobilized his family's resources to secretly investigate the "Red Spider Lily" and the origin of that letter. 0

For a time, the Du Family was in turmoil, and anxiety spread among the people. Under immense pressure, I called a press conference. The flashbulbs popped incessantly, countless eyes were fixed on me, and my palms were sweaty, but I told myself not to back down. 0

"Hello, media friends and everyone concerned about this matter! Recently, my husband Du Ming and I have received threats from unknown individuals, and some have even attempted to harm us..." I took a deep breath and continued, "We do not know who is behind all this, but we will not succumb to such intimidation! We have decided to make this public in hopes of leveraging societal power to uncover the truth and bring the mastermind to justice!" 0

My speech was like a stone thrown into a calm lake, instantly stirring up waves. 0

After the press conference, developments unfolded even more dramatically than we had anticipated. Various speculations and rumors fermented online, with some even pointing fingers at the Du Family, claiming it was a feud among wealthy families or internal strife. Du Ming had never been so anxious; he kept making phone calls, arranging personnel, his brow furrowed like an enraged lion—dangerous yet with nowhere to vent. 0

"Calm down, Du Ming. The more we panic, the more we fall into their trap," I pressed his hand down, trying to give him strength. 0

He took a deep breath, the redness in his eyes slightly fading. "You're right, Lingxi; I was too impulsive." 0

Just then, the study door was flung open violently, and Mr. Du walked in with a grim expression. "Who gave you the guts to hold a press conference without permission?" 0

Du Ming stood up with fierce eyes. "Father, this matter originated because of me; I cannot let Lingxi and myself fall into danger." 0

"Danger? I think you just want to make things worse!" Mr. Du slammed a newspaper on the table; the headline prominently displayed internal conflict within the Du Family. "Now the entire Jianghan City is laughing at our family, and you still have time for this nonsense!" 0

I was about to explain when Mr. Du suddenly turned to me with disgust in his eyes. "It's all your fault! Ever since you entered the Du Family, there hasn't been a single peaceful day! And now look—my son has to suffer because of you!" 0

I took a deep breath, suppressing my grievances that rose in my throat. Just as I was about to retort, a cold voice came from the doorway: "Master of the Du Family, long time no see; hope you're doing well." 0

We all turned our heads simultaneously to see a man dressed in a black robe standing at the door. He looked gaunt with sinister eyes and held a striking Red Spider Lily in his hand. 0

"Who are you?" Du Ming stepped forward protectively behind me and asked warily. 0

The man sneered coldly as he slowly removed his hat, revealing an aged face filled with deep-seated hatred. "What? You don't even recognize your own uncle?" 0

My heart jolted—could it be... 0

"Du Hai?" Mr. Du gasped in disbelief. "You’re not…" 0

"Dead?" Du Hai interjected coldly. "Are you disappointed to see that I'm still alive? Back then, you two conspired together to drive me out and take everything from me—did you ever think it would come to this?" 0

"What do you want?" Du Ming asked icily. Although he didn't know what had happened back then, his instincts told him that this man was extremely dangerous. 0

"Very simple," Du Hai's chilling gaze swept over us. "Have Du Ming relinquish his inheritance rights and leave the Du Family forever; he must never set foot in Jianghan City again—or else..." He paused for effect as malice flickered in his eyes. "You can expect my wrath!" 0

The atmosphere in the study dropped to freezing point; it was suffocatingly tense. I gripped Du Ming's hand tightly; my fingertips were cold while my palms were sweaty. Du Hai's words poured boiling oil onto our already precarious situation. 0

"Impossible!" Without hesitation, Du Ming rejected Du Hai's demands outright. "I will never give up my inheritance rights nor leave Lingxi or the Du Family!" He shielded me behind him with determination in his voice. "If you want revenge, come at me; do not harm Lingxi!" 0

"Ming'er!" Mr. Du shouted sharply, anguish written all over his face. "Do you know what you're saying? You..." 0

"I know!" Du Ming interrupted him, "I know better than anyone what I'm doing! I won't let anyone threaten me and Lingxi, nor will I allow the Du Family to be shamed!" 0

Du Hai laughed sinisterly, his weathered face filled with resentment and madness. "Good, good, good! No wonder you're my good nephew, Du Ming; you have guts!" He suddenly threw the Red Spider Lily in his hand to the ground and crushed it fiercely. "Since you refuse my kindness, don't blame me for being ruthless!" 0

As soon as he finished speaking, several shadows flashed in through the window, surrounding us completely. These men in black were calm and composed, their eyes sharp; they were clearly trained assassins. 0

"Ming'er, Lingxi, you two run!" Mr. Du suddenly pushed us aside and stood in front of us. Trembling, he took out a jade pendant from his pocket. "Take this and go..." 0

Before he could finish his sentence, a black-clad man struck him in the chest with a palm, causing him to spit out blood and collapse to the ground. 0

"Father!" 0

"Uncle Du!" 0

I watched helplessly as Mr. Du fell into a pool of blood, everything around me turning red. Anger, fear, and sorrow intertwined within me, nearly overwhelming me. 0

"Want to leave? It's too late!" Du Hai sneered and waved his hand. "Kill them!" 0

At that critical moment, a figure rushed in like lightning. He moved swiftly and struck fiercely, taking down the surrounding assassins in just a few moves. 0

"Stop!" The newcomer shouted angrily, commanding everyone's attention. He turned around, and I finally saw his face—a man around forty years old, with a stern expression and sharp eyes that exuded an air of authority from someone who had long held power. 0

"Cousin?!" Du Ming exclaimed in surprise. "What are you doing here?" 0
